n00b, how to uninstall wine completely and reinstall, Ubuntu.
I installed wine on my desktop running ubuntu 10.04. All was working fine until I installed battlefield 1942. I had an issue so decided to uninstall wine and try again. When I reinstalled wine, I get no Programs item in the menu. I can browse to the folder when browsing the c drive. I started to uninstall BF1942 to try again and had a power cut during the process. Is there any way to completely

Uninstall old wine version and install new version
I did a forum search and found 16 pages for uninstalling wine. Only one was semi-helpful. What I got was: > > [Bakshara at Bakshara ~]$ rmdir ~/.wine > rmdir: failed to remove `/home/Bakshara/.wine': Directory not empty > What do I need to do? I want to uninstall wine 1.1.24 and install 1.1.26. I currently only have three apps installed. So any thing I will loose will be easy

cannot update or uninstall evernote 4 under wine
Hi, I installed evernote under wine on ubuntu 10.10, but now that I want to update to the latest version of evernote, I get a message that evernote is already installed for one user and I can only install the new version after uninstalling the previous one. The trouble is that when I do that from the wine menu it seems to uninstall but then reinstalls the same older version. I'm stuck in a

Wine auto update under Suse 10.3
The above has been working perfectly since I first installed Wine last year, successfully installing the updates which appear sometimes on a daily basis. It uses the main Suse 10.3 repositories, plus software.opensuse.org/download/Emulators:/Wine/openSUSE_10.3/ However in the last couple of weeks the updates have all failed, giving a "missing dependencies" message showing many

Wine Install and Uninstall Problems
Greetings all. I have been running Wine under Kubuntu Feisty for about the last four months, keeping it updated with the latest wine releases on a weekly basis, I use it to run WordPerfect. Whilst WordPerfect didn't run flawlessly, I got it to work well enough to edit and save documents I work on at home. In four months none of the updates to Wine changed anything in how WordPerfect

After uninstalling and reinstalling, no Wine folders
Originally installed Wine [9.33] from the Ubuntu repository. After adding the WineHQ repository, I was upgraded to 9.49. Since it was an upgrade, the folders installed by 9.33 were retained in place of those 9.49 would have installed if it were the first installation. I decided to make my installation more "up-to-date" by uninstalling and reinstalling. I've uninstalled and

Adjusting size of the window that a program opens into
I was messing around with the dimensions of the window that a program opens in and now it is a mess. Everything is huge in the window and I cannot resize it or scroll around in it. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and the same settings keep coming back. How do I completely uninstall Wine and reinstall it so it is all back to the default settings from the original install?

recently moved to 1.1.25, no wine-pthread command
I have done some reading and gather than wine-pthread was dropped somewhere around 1.1.19. Problem I have is that I have an application (newsleecher) which effectively never starts up (gave it 10 minutes at one point, used 100% cpu the whole time) with strait wine command on the older wine version, I think 1.0.something, came with ubuntu 8.04 in one of the unsupported repositories. It starts up

Localhost imap server fails after upgrade from 2.2.33.2-1 to 1:2.3.2.1
I use a localhost dovecot imap server in order to access maildir folders from Alpine (see 2009 instructions for my set up here https://cpbl.wordpress.com/2009/11/07/alpine-offlineimap-and-gmail-under-ubuntu/ ) My configuration has worked nicely since 2009, but failed after a recent upgrade of dovecot (during basic upgrade from Ubuntu 18.04 to 18.10). The version of Alpine did not change.

Cannot uninstall wine; failed dependencies
I recently installed SuSE 10.1 for the first time (I'm completely new to Linux). Wine was installed with it, but i'm not sure what version, or what directory it was installed to. To be safe I thought it'd be best for me to uninstall wine completely, and reinstall the latest version. I went to what I think is the correct directory (/usr/lib/) and did 'make uninstall wine' and

EMERGENCY: Server Crash
Hi; I went to install some s/w and it looked like there was a problem with openssl. So I decided to uninstall it (yum remove) and reinstall it. When I went to reinstall, I discovered I couldn't use yum. Then I discovered: [root at 13gems qmail-1.03]# yum install openssl -bash: /usr/bin/yum: No such file or directory [root at 13gems qmail-1.03]# man yum Floating point exception [root at 13gems

Updating Wine
I have just noticed that my version of wine is 1.3.28 which is apparently a bit outdated. Strange cos I installed it via Synaptic. Anyway how do I get hold of the latest version? Must I uninstall the old one first? Can I update from one to the other? Do I have to reinstall all my programs? Thanks
