Possible to run iscsi-target and initiator on same server?
I am trying to install Oracle RAC in a two node cluster for testing
purposes, so performance is not something that concerns me. I just want
to go through the process all the way to creating a database. I have all
the prerequisites except the shared storage and thought I'd give this a
try.
I'm running:
- CentOS 5.3 kernel 2.6.18-164.el5
- iscsitarget-1.4.18-1

kernel-devel largesmp or ELlarge?
I'm having trouble updating my iscsitarget modules, and it seems to be
related to a naming convention mixup?
here's the output of the build command:

Ok, Jumbo's enabled on the switch and media server. For the sake of our sanity jumping back and forth, I am trying to enable jumbo's on the bonded pair in the target, # ifconfig bond0 mtu 9014 and it errors

For iSCSI, have a look at iscsi-init at sourceforge.
http://iscsi-init.sourceforge.net. Load it as a module in an initrd and
it uses some kernel parameters and automatically configures the network

What iSCSI is used in Centos 5 and RHEL6?
I was looking up on iSCSI in preparation and became aware that there
are different iSCSI software/drivers/whatever-is-the-correct-term
available. e.g.
IET http://iscsitarget.sourceforge.net/
SCST http://scst.sourceforge.net/
STGT http://stgt.berlios.de/
LIO http://linux-iscsi.org/
Based on what I can see, it seems to be STGT because the site provides
a link to Redhat advisory which seems to

Centos 3.6 - iscsi target issues
Hello,
I'm running a server that needs to have a kernel 2.4.xxx.
So now I'm running a CentOS 3.6 with kernel 2.4.21-37.0.1.ELsmp.
Now, I want to make this server usable for ISCSI, so I started to install
the ISCSI target, and the problems begin.
If I try to install ISCSI version 0.4.13 from source code I got the
following error :
The present kernel configuration has modules disabled.

OT: iscsi target bind to two addresses?
Does anyone know off hand how to bind iscsi enterprise target to two
distinct addresses. Lets say I have a machine that has a bunch of
interfaces on it, with different subnets. Rather than have ietd
broadcast itself on all interfaces (the default), I would like to
limit it to only two interfaces. I have edited the init.d startup
script with --address x.x.x.x which works, but I tried using the

Configuring Xen + DRBD + Corosync + Pacemaker
Hi everyone,
I need some help to setup my configuration failover system.
My goal is to have a redundance system using Xen + DRBD + Corosync +
Pacemaker
On Xen I will have one virtual machine. When this computer has network
down, I will do a Live migration to the second computer.
The first configuration I will need is a crossover cable, won''t I? It is
really necessary? Ok, I did it. eth0

BUG: soft lockup detected on CPU#?
Hello All.
I've just started looking into Xen and have a test environment in place. I'm seeing an
annoying problem that I thought worthy of a post.
Config:
I have 2 x HP DL585 servers each with 4 Dual core Opterons (non-vmx) and 16GB RAM
configured as Xen servers. These run CentOS 5.1 with the latest updates applied. These
system both attach to an iSCSI target which is an HP DL385

Migration Problem
Hi all!
I've been experimenting with Xen on CentOS 5 and RHAS 5 for a while now with mixed success
I thought I'd describe my latest challenge. I'll describe this from memory since all
the equipment is at work and not contactable from here.
I think I've described this config to the list before but here it is again:

Issues with iSCSI, Hosts Crashing
Two questions (and then a bonus one), kind of interrelated, but, first, some basic info. I'm using OCFS2 on OpenSUSE 10.2, kernel 2.6.18.8(-0.7). There are three nodes in the OCFS2 cluster, backed by Openfiler iSCSI storage.
First, I'm using Openfiler and iSCSI volumes to back my OCFS2 file system. The nodes that are part of the OCFS2 cluster use the file system as a shared storage

iscsi target for C5.x
Does anyone have any recommendations for the best way to bring up a
iSCSI Target on a C5.3+ server ? Various blogs suggest compiling IET
from source, but thats not real appealing to me (not that I can't do it,
I just don't want to have to support it long term). I looked in
rpmforge but didn't see anything.

iSCSI target in CentOS 4?
Hi List,
I've started looking into iSCSI, and I'm wondering if there is an iSCSI
target (I've found the initiator in iscsi-initiator-utils) that ships
with CentOS, or if not, what the recommended target would be. I'd like
to export either a partition or (preferably) a file-as-a-partition.
Yours,

3Ware 9650SE tuning advice
Hello fellow sysadmins!
I've assembled a whitebox system with a SuperMicro motherboard, case,
8GB of memory and a single quad core Xeon processor.
I have two 9650SE-8LPML cards (8 ports each) in each server with 12 1TB
SATA drives total. Three drives per "lane" on each card.
CentOS 5.2 x86_64.
I'm looking for advice on tuning this thing for performance.

HELP! SNV_97,98,99 zfs with iscsitadm and VMWare!
I''m not sure if this is a problem with the iscsitarget or zfs. I''d greatly appreciate it if it gets moved to the proper list.
Well I''m just about out of ideas on what might be wrong..
Quick history:
I installed OS 2008.05 when it was SNV_86 to try out ZFS with VMWare. Found out that multilun''s were being treated as multipaths so waited till SNV_94 came out to

Xen domU''s and iscsi initaitor problems.
Hello, I have been using Xen now for several months and have been
quite successful until attempting to utilize iscsi within my domU''s.
My research has turned up many posts of people using iscsi with no
problems, and I have found no others with the problem I seem to be
experiencing. If this has been covered on this list in the past,
please accept my humble apologies.

Upgrade frim 6.0 to 6.1 crashes on x3850
Hi,
After yum update on a Cent OS 6.0 IBM x3850 server to Cent OS 6.1, the
kernel crashes on boot.
I have googlet a little, and find that others have the same problem and
there seems not to be a solution yet.
The kernel that crashes is 2.6.32-131.21.1.el6.x86_64.
If i boot the prior kernel 2.6.32-71.29.1.el6.x86_64 instead it works!
Is it advisable to run the server with kernel
