EXTLINUX 4.02 can't boot Windows partition
Hello, I use the extlinux bootloader, and I've recently discovered that the current version can no longer boot Windows. The message it flashes is "Requested partition not found!" After downgrading to the version 3.86, it was able boot correctly. Unfortunately, I do not know in which was the last version which was able to boot Windows (I rarely boot it), but I am pretty sure that

How can I create raid 1 - Centos 5.7 64 minimal installation
Hello, I have a server working on centos 5.7-64 minimal installation. I have 3 separate physical drives: 120 gb ssd, 2x 3tb disks for storage. My linux installation is on ssd disk, and I want to make raid 1 for these two 3tb disks and store data, like under /mnt/data. Can you please tell me the path how this is possible? Thanks for your help! Best regards, Here are some output of commands I

Strange problem with LVM, device-mapper, and software RAID...

Hiding partitions at boot time
Hi, My problem is I have a particular system which has Linux (LFS) and Windows XP on one drive and Windows 10 on a second drive. I use extlinux to boot my systems and all three systems boot as expected, however in use I have found unsatisfactory interactions between the Windows XP and the Windows 10 systems. My question is: Is it possible on booting one of the Windows systems to hide

CentOS 7 install on one RAID 1 [not-so-SOLVED]
First let me say I am not a true expert, but I am experienced. If this machine you purchased was some name brand, you must be speaking about hardware raid, true? If this is true, it normally presents you with what looks like a standard drive (/dev/sda) for every 2 drives configured as raid-1. Also, most name brand servers give you a bootable machine day one. If you are using software raid,

Slow performance to samba server with OSX client
Dear List, I'm hoping there is someone that might give me some pointers to solving the following problem. I run Mac OSX Tiger and perform a filecopy using Finder to a samba share on a Gentoo Linux machine running samba version 3.0.14a. Copying a 1GB file to the fileserver takes roughly 2 hours (33,9 MB in 4 min). This means 142 kb/s over a Gigabit network. Now here is the strange thing: When

Rescan for new geometry without reboot?
Hello, We just had our servers fitted with more disks. Most of the disks are growing existing RAID 1+0 channels, some are in new channels. Controllers and disks support live installation. I'd like to avoid a reboot just to let the system find that the disks are larger. All I can find so far suggests that its possible to rescan the disks, and even find the new geometry (e.g.

Multiple geometry, selections and georss
Hello- I have not used Mapstraction yet, and am new to geographic display software. I just sank sank several frustating Firebug-hours into another open source toolkit and am casting about for alternatives. Please tell me how to use Mapstraction for a particular use case.. The use case is a map of places with lines to the nearest surrounding places. I would like to just show all of the places.

OT hard disk geometry
My only excuse for asking this question here is that I am running CentOS-6.5 on my HP MicroServer. I recently purchased a 2TB WD hard drive (WD20ESRX), and was surprised to find that the power-connector on this drive did not seem to be in the correct place for the drive-bay. (The drive bay closes, but the disk does not spin.) The power connector on the drive is further from the SATA connectors

Interface between fractal geometry and statistics
Are there any packages that help with statistical analysis in situations where fractal geometry is relevant? Perhaps something that supports computation of fractal related statistics, such as the Hurst exponent or fractal dimension? Or perhaps which support obvious tasks such as taking samples from a dataset at different levels of granularity (such as sampling spatial data at cm, m, km

convhulln {geometry} output from .call
Hi All, convhulln {geometry} computes the convex hull of a set of points in n- dimensions via .call, returning the hull itself, and also "unavoidably generates a diagnostic report on an Rterm console." See the example below. I need to access the results of the diagnostic report (specifically the computed hull volume) from within R, but I cannot see how. I've looked at

convert opengis wkt to geometry?
After writing some code (stupidly without checking to see if there was code to do this already) to generate PostGIS SQL insert statements for simple geometry (wkt), I didn't check see if there is already something available to convert WKT strings into some R package geometry (sp?). Does anyone have any advice, hints, code (?) for converting the following OpenGIS strings into something

Changing USB-key geometry from syslinux.exe?
I'm playing with syslinux 3.0x to get PC to boot from USB key... In particular, I'm giving a look at the "ZIP geometry hack" to get some more BIOS boot working with USB... Some question: - if we have a usbkey with a single partition, can we change the geometry without requiring to reformat the partition? Or is a reformat unavoidable? - at the moment we can use the "ZIP

AHCI and correct drive geometry?
Hey folks, So what's the word on AHCI and bios drive geometry? I'm having a real pain of a time trying to get some 750gb sata drives running on my FreeBSD7 box in AHCI mode. It doesn't seem to matter what disk geometry I suggest to sysinstall, something complains of an invalid disk upon booting it. Actually, in AHCI mode the bios screen doesn't report any information on

[PATCH] nvc0: fix geometry program revalidation of clipping params
Signed-off-by: Ilia Mirkin <imirkin at alum.mit.edu> Cc: mesa-stable at lists.freedesktop.org --- Even though in practice a geometry program will never be using UCP's, we still were revalidating (aka recompiling) the program when more clip planes became enabled (which also are used for regular clip distances). This seems like it should have led to massive fail, but I guess you

extlinux geometry issue
Hi, I've created a rPath appliance which boots from a USB memory stick. Today I upgraded extlinux on my rPath appliance and the memory stick froze the system during POST. After a lot of trial and errors I found out this could be fixed by wiping the USB memory stick and reproduced it by writing extlinux (3.72) to the stick. I finally found out how to fix this issue, by entering the correct
