IBM BladeCenter HS20 blades
Greetings, We have purchased an IBM BladeCenter and I am in the process of testing Linux installation on these things (boot off SAN i.e. qla2300 driver, not using internal drives). My distro of choice is Debian, however, since I'm really not interested in trying to hand compile all the drivers, I decided to try CentOS (which I'm so far very impressed with). On boot, as with the

localboot in pxelinux recurses back into pxelinux then eventually crashes
Hello, A couple of months back there was this message on the list. http://syslinux.zytor.com/archives/2010-October/015459.html I have exactly the same result on just a few types of machines. Syslinux 3.85 chain.c32 problem solved
Thanks to debugging information from Thomas Mieslinger, I have root-caused the failure of chain.c32 in Syslinux 3.85. I have put out Syslinux 3.86-pre1 and Syslinux 4.00-pre33 which fix the problem. I expect to release a Syslinux 3.86 relatively shortly (ideally in the next two weeks), with bug fixes only. I would like to figure out if there are other bug fixes we can get in in reasonable time,

pxelinux: unable to boot from local disk
Hello, on a somewhat recent machine (Dell T1600) I'm unable to use my usual setup (pxelinux as a boatloader also for local OS - typically windows). The BIOS is capable of using UEFI, but this is turned off. Unfortunately all I get is a message telling me that pxelinux is unable to boot from local disk. The config entry looks like this: LABEL local MENU LABEL OS installed on local disk

CentOS on IBM Bladecenter HS21
Hello, I have CentOS 5.2 installed on two of the afore-mentioned blades. I've noticed that the OS started to crash lately (kernel panic) and I've been assigned the task to troubleshoot this issue. I would like to know what is the best way of recovering the kernel dump after the OS crashes. I know there are two software implementations that would enable me to do this, kexec and

can pxe localboot report failure to bios
<Docs> LOCALBOOT type [ISOLINUX, PXELINUX] On PXELINUX, specifying "LOCALBOOT 0" instead of a "KERNEL" option means invoking this particular label will cause a local disk boot instead of booting a kernel. The argument 0 means perform a normal boot. The argument 4 will perform a local boot with the Universal Network Driver Interface (UNDI) driver still

Re: How libvirt interacts with dhcpd?
Thanks for the reply Laine. My problem is that dnsmasq is masking dhcpd, xCAT uses dhcpd for PXE stuff. If dnsmasq answer DHCP requests the PXE boot won' t work. I want to see the logs for ensuring the dnsmasq is not masking dhcpd. Regards, 2018-06-18 11:39 GMT-03:00 Laine Stump <laine@redhat.com>: > On 06/18/2018 09:16 AM, Daniel. wrote: >> Cool, thanks!! How libvirt interacts with dhcpd?
Hi everybody, I'm using libvirt together with xCAT, on the same host, for testing purposes. xCAT install and manages dhcpd. How libvirt interacts with dhcpd? And if doens't how does the dhcp server of libvirt works, plus where I can find information on how to troubleshot it? Regards, -- “If you're going to try, go all the way. PXELINUX LocalBoot 0 fail; hunting for bug
Recently, I decided to pull out a new model laptop for testing related to my job at work. Dell Latitiude E6400, BIOS A14. Normally I have it set to boot CD, USB, Net, then HDD and noticed that with PXELINUX-4.02 and 'LOCALBOOT 0', it hung on me before leaving the PXE stack. I then tried 3.86 and it worked. 4.00 and 4.01 both hung when I tested them as well. Changing to 'LOCALBOOT

Newbie RIS Replacement
Doing a lot of RTFM lately about PXE. I have done xCAT builds but want to take the voodo out of the process so I can control and understand the whole system. I am new to PXE technology and so consider me ignorant. The current server is a MS RIS server and I am attempting to migrate our facility to use Linux / PXE instead. First stage: take existing DOS bootnet floppy and convert to boot from

localboot in pxelinux recurses back into pxelinux then eventually crashes
Hi all, My server is IBM x3850 X5 and use Broadcom UNDI PXE-2.1 v5.2.4 stack. When I choose localboot to boot from the harddisk, the system willnot boot up then still trying to boot from PXE. Several times later the PXE boot procedure is crashed with words as I attached. Does anyone have any good idea? Thanks very much. localboot not working in PXELINUX 2.02
Hello, We're using the PXELINUX to boot remote kickstart and Linux rescue images. Recently we got some new hardware (Compaq DL360) which required me to upgrade from PXELINNUX 1.75 to 2.02. Everything works fine on the new hardware, but the "localboot 0" option now just hangs on some of our older boxes. Specifically, our "Tyan Thunder 2510" motherboards with integrated

pxelinux v2.00 & localboot hanging
Is there a solution to pxelinux v2.00 hanging with 'localboot 0' ? I haven't had a good time with v1.76 due to the UNDI corruption bug. I just subscribed and I've searched the archives up to 12/5.

Still fighting localboot on EFI - looping
I'm still trying fruitlessly to get some sort of local disk boot from syslinux EFI to work... using the 6.03 modules. Tried various combinations of configurations on Gene's test binaries. For reference this is on different models of HP Proliant Gen-9 systems with UEFI. Firmware as up to date as it comes. The UEFI boot order has the hard drives and OS ESPs before the PXE interfaces

syslinux 5.01 serial regression...
Hi HPA et al, When moving from syslinux 4.06 to 5.01, I found serial output isn't working. The issue reproduces simply [1] and I get back serial output when I move back to syslinux 4.06. I also see a regression in booting locally with 'localboot 0' which give a generic 'failed' error message; likely reproducible there also. Let me know if you need more information and
