CentOS6.2: installation at specific kernel level
Hi, all
I have a number of machines that are out of sync with one another by
virtue of having done a yum update after a base 6.2 install at different
times (all were previous CentOS 5.3) Consequently, systems are a mix of
2.6.32-220.7.1, 2.6.32-220.13.1 or 2.6.32-220.17.1.
So 2 questions:
- Is it possible to perform a yum update (or another other kind of
update), specifying installation

Strange su behavior after installing latest CentOS updates
I did a "yum update" on my CentOS 6 systems yesterday for the first time in about a month and now have some automated processes failing because the PATH is not set up correctly when using "su". The problem is very easy to see by comparing the output of the following two commands:
# su - <user> -c "env | grep PATH"
# su <user> -c "env | grep

Two CentOS installations failed dual boot
Hello everybody,
I installed Centos 6.2 on a computer with an older version of it in
order to dual boot both of them. I managed to install the new OS on a
physically seperated hard drive, and configured grub to make the newly
installed OS the default one. Now the older OS won't boot and this
error message shows: *"error 13: invalid or unsupported executable format"*.

centos modprobe ipv6 fatal ipv6.ko Invalid module format
Hi. My provider rebooted the server today or the server rebooted itself
because of some problem, still don't know. Anyway: In /var/log/messages now
I get zillions of
modprobe: FATAL: Could not read
'/lib/modules/2.6.32-220.17.1.el6.x86_64/kernel/net/ipv6/ipv6.ko': Invalid
module format
I am not able to find any solution to this. ???
Thanks for your time,

samba problem with kernel 2.6.32-279.*
Hello,
We use Norton Ghost, running in a PXE booted DOS, to
handle Windows XP images.
The images are stored on a samba share on our CentOS 6
server.
This has worked without any problems for years.
After kernel 2.6.32-279* it has stopped working.
The symptom is that if I boot in DOS, and do:
net use x: \\myserver\ghostimages
dir x:
I get an infinite loop where the first file name is

100% load on core after physically removing USB storage from host
I encountered a problem after removing a USB flash drive using virtual
machine manager, I
notice that the core assigned to the VM guest goes up to 100% load.
Within the guest itself, there is no significant activity.
This also prompted me to look at the other physical machine from which
I used the USB flash drive to transfer files. And it was also
exhibiting the same problem.

Mysterious versioning reported by file command
I just noticed this, which doesn't actually seem to affect anything but does
create a mystery:

printf("Hello world\n");
return 0;

Dovecot sends BYE while fetching X-GM-MSGID
Hello everyone,
While using the following set of commands, I am having the error as below:
FETCH 7 (X-GM-MSGID)
A15 FETCH 7 (X-GM-MSGID)
A15 BAD Error in IMAP command FETCH: Unknown parameter X-GM-MSGID
Can I somehow disable such errors so that Dovecot won't send BYE on X-GM-MSGID but just proceed with following emails?

[OT] Cannot boot into GUI after Video Driver is Installed
Good Day,
I am not 100% certain if here is the right place to bring this up, however
if this is the wrong place for this please redirect me to right place.
A few weeks ago I was trying to install KVM on my laptop, I bought a new
laptop and immediately after I install the nVidia drivers I receive the
following error "libfcoe_device_notification: NETDEV_UNREGISTER lo"

disappeared VM in virsh
Hi guys,
one of my VM has disappeared in libvirtd. I still can see the process
with ps and the configuration file is as well there. But it is not
displayed or found with virt-manger/virsh.
virsh list shows only 4 of 5, but there is no real error message.
I restarted the daemon without solving the problem. Any idea what to do?
Here some info:

Director problems
Hi,
I've just setup a testing enviroment for director, and it's not working
as expected. I have just 1 director (called director) and 2 dovecot
servers (dovecot1 and dovecot2); these are exact copies.
First problem: when both dovecot servers are up, every imap connection
is redirected to the same server as you can see here:
$ sudo doveadm director map

Maildir + quota + listescape = wrong dir location
I've just stumbled across a strange thing which seems to be a bug.
It happens in 2.0.9 as well as 2.0.11 in which I tested it.
