PXE boot into rescue mode
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
I followed the instructions here:
http://nixcraft.com/file-servers/14803-how-centos-5-pxe-linux-installation-server.html,
along with a few other sources that were less successful, and I finally
got a pxe boot going. I'm using CentOS 5.3 x86_64 media as the source.
The server boots, but keeps hanging.

Xen 3.3.1 Windows HVM Disk I/O -> domU and dom0 hangs
Hi,
we are currently working on getting windows working on your xen servers.
but we are facing a severe problem where dom0 and all domus hang for
1-5 seconds from time to time.
we think it is probably because of disk i/o, because top sometimes
says 100% wa (waiting on io) during the hang.
dom0 has cpu 0 for exclusive use and the windows vms use cpu 1 to 7.
should we give dom0 more than once

help--dom0 network goes unpingable when xend starts
I installed 64-bit xen 3.1.0 (from xensource.com tarballs) on
three new machines today, using a configuration setup that I''ve
used successfully many times before. However, I encountered a
new problem.
These are Dell Poweredge 1950 servers, by the way.

Understanding the contents of virsh dump --memory-only
Hello,
I was trying to understand the ELF file generated by the virsh dump
(--memory-only) command. I have successfully generated a dump of the VM
memory using this command.
I specifically am trying to understand the loadable segments of this ELF
file.
I ran readelf -a <filename> to get the information that I need. Below shows
the details of the loadable segments in a much better format

MMCFG Problem
Hi Allen, Hi All,
I''m looking into SR-IOV on Xen and in particular getting
the VFs of the Intel 82756 initialised in dom0.
One problem that I am coming up against is that
the SRIOV extended PCIe capability does not show up
for the PF (physical PCI function). Actually,
the extended PCIe capability space doesn''t show up
at all for any device.
This seems to be related to a

How to check for proper MSI support?
Hello,
A user (cc'd) reported that nouveau's enabling of MSI causes the card
to not work on his setup [1]. I think the situation is that MSI is
just not supported by the underlying motherboard, even though the
card, and probably bridge, support it just fine. It's a very old
board. The nouveau code does:
pmc->use_msi = pci_enable_msi(device->pdev) == 0;
Does it need to do more

It seems the "machine check exception handling" breaks HVM guest
Hi Jan Beulich,

With the c/s, when creating HVM guest, I can only see a white Qemu
window. :(
Can you have a look? Thanks.

received packet with own address as source address
Hi,
we''re running 4 xen servers on our network with multiple network cards.
During HighLoad we experince degeneration of inbound network traffic
through our loadbalancer. I might found a reason for it, in Dom0 dmesg
output looks as follows:
[1157421.975910] eth0: received packet with own address as source address

Disabling cirrus-vga
Hi xen developers,
Does any of you know how to disable the cirrus-vga emulation for hvm in xen?
I have been trying to disable that from the source codes, but even with
that, I still see a VGA controller when I boot up my guest domain. In
particular, I would like to do this because I am passing through a graphics
card to my guest domain using direct pass through.
Thanks,

iSCSI offload with Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5709.
Hello all.
We recently purchased HP Proliant DL380 G7 server and also a HP Lefthand
P4500 G2 24TB iSCSI box.
The server itself has Quad Ethernet based on the BCM5709 Chipset from
Broadcom (NetXtreme II).
My main question is about iSCSI offload mechanism, as iSCSI itself is
pretty new to me
but I have gotten a good hold on it tho.
I have managed to setup and configured our Lefthand box into

AHCI and VT-d related problem
Hello,
I have an issue with my XEN system. I suspect that it might be a bug,
but I''m no linux expert, so I don''t know. Here is my problem: I have an
ASUS P7P55D-E Premium motherboard, and a Western Digital Caviar Black
SATA-III 1TB hdd. I am trying to use AHCI. The dom0 is an Arch Linux.
The dom0 boots fine until Intel VT-d is enabled in the BIOS. When I
enable it Arch

broadcom 802.3ad
Does anyone have some tips for setting up Broadcom's 802.3AD support
or just getting their driver compiled / installed?
First off, I noticed redhat claims the broadcom bcm5708 driver has
been added to the rhel4 kernel. But I don't see /proc/net/nicinfo
which broadcom claims the driver creates when it's successfully
initialized.
So, I'm trying to build the driver based on the

How to check for proper MSI support?
Yijing,
cat /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000\:00\:0e.0/msi_bus returns 1, suggesting
that it supports MSI. However, this "00:0e.0 PCI bridge: PLX
Technology, Inc. PEX8112 x1 Lane PCI Express-to-PCI Bridge (rev aa)"
is a component of the addin card. Wouldn't the lack of support for MSI

PROBLEM: log abort over RAID5
Several people already reported this at linux-kernel and
elsewhere with no answers, I thought perhaps this would be a more
adequate forum...

After I/O, journal is aborted and filesystems made read-only.
[2.] Full description of the problem/report:
One can't anymore write to the affected file systems. Upon
investigation, ext3fs journal was aborted
