Please help: Test documentation in Trac
Hi all,
Peter Abrahamsen has been working assiduously to get all of the
Puppet documentation into Trac''s wiki. He''s now complete, and I
would appreciate it if people could click around the wiki a bit and
see if everything looks okay. The docs start here:

I''m also working on switching to using

trac problems: tracd is dead
Well, tracd suddenly decided to stop serving requests today. As a
result, we''ve re-enabled trac under mod_python, which unfortunately
means you can expect more stack traces. We''ll continue working on
resurrecting tracd, but please bear with us until we get it fixed.

Trac accounts
I''ve added an account manager plugin to Trac, so people should now be
able to create and pseudo-manage their own Trac accounts.
This should make it easier to submit bugs as yourself, and anyone
should be able to log in and modify info on the wiki.
However, trac seems to deal weirdly with credential caching, so I
don''t seem to be able to log in as a test user. Please let

problem with wiki - Trac internal error
I seem to be getting the following error from the wiki, in both
Safari and Firefox. Is something changing something, or is it offline
every day for a time or something?
Jesse
Oops…
Trac detected an internal error:
If you think this really should work and you can reproduce it, you
should consider reporting this problem to the Trac team.

ANNOUNCE: 0.23.0 release
Hi all,
I''ve finally released 0.23.0 (only two days late!). You can get it
from the usual locations (although the packagers will take a little
while to package it up, I assume):
https://reductivelabs.com/trac/puppet/wiki/InstallationGuide
You can read the full changelog[1], which is pretty long, but here''s
a summary of the things you either want or should look out for:

ANNOUNCE: Puppet 0.22.2 (grover)
Hi all,
I''m proud to announce that I seem to have pushed a new release of
Puppet out in record time. This is a minor upgrade, mostly bugfixes
and small features, but there are lots of each. See the changelog[1]
for an idea of what this release provides, but keep in mind that this
changelog is my first real attempt at keeping an up-to-date changelog.
Enjoy!

BayLISA Puppet presentation video
Hi all,
Jennifer Davis from BayLISA has done us the service of already
posting the presentation from this past Wednesday night:

Passing XMLRPC errors on to clients
Hi,
I''m experimenting with using Mongrel to serve XMLRPC, and I''m having
trouble passing the XMLRPC errors on to the client.
In my webrick implementation, I just raise the XMLRPC error and the
client receives it and can handle it like a normal exception. With
Mongrel, when I raise the error, Mongrel catches it and just closes
the client connection, which means the

trac@reductivelabs.com broken?
I''ve tried replying twice in the past few days to a request for more
information on a bug I filed. When I do, I get:

(reason: 550 5.1.1 <trac@reductivelabs.com>: Recipient address rejected: User unknown in local recipient table)

New Introduction
Hi all,
I''ve just rewritten the Puppet introduction from scratch:
https://reductivelabs.com/trac/puppet/wiki/PuppetIntroduction
I think it''s better, but I''m not convinced it''s a whole heckuva lot
better.
Comments are very much appreciated, especially if you can recommend a
better approach to the document. I tried to organize it how I have

Provider suitability reports
As promised, I''m trying to extra more data out of Puppet''s internals,
and this is one I''ve been wanting to do ever since I developed the
idea of provider suitability.
I''ve created new type of ''reference'' (although it''s more of a report
than a reference) that can tell you which providers are functional on
the current platform,

Switching to Google Groups tomorrow night
Hi all,
Is everyone switched over to the Google lists?
I''m basically ready for the switch, I think, and doing so would be one
more closed loop for me.
I notice we''ve only got a bit over 300 subscribers to the Puppet Users
list, while my madstop list has nearly 600. This is a bit depressing,
but it probably represents a better idea of who''s actually using the

Japanese Puppet users
Hi all,
I''ve been trying to monitor the traffic on the web site recently, and
it seems like we''ve got a couple of Japanese Puppet users I didn''t
know about. I''ve seen articles about Puppet on both madoro.org[1]
and mizzy.org[2] recently.
I haven''t looked into translations of Puppet''s documentation much,
but this might be a good place

ANNOUNCE: 0.24.0 is out
At long last, 0.24.0 has been released. Look for your friendly
packagers to package it up in the near future, but in the meantime
you can download it:
http://reductivelabs.com/downloads/puppet/puppet-0.24.0.tgz
I''ll be walking the different release sites (RubyForge et al) and
posting it there, too.

Last call for fixes: Releasing tomorrow
I think I''ve got every fix except one in that''s going to make it into
grover, which I''ll hopefully be releasing tomorrow. I plan on adding
Tim Stoop''s patches for home directory management (#432), but
everything else is getting pushed to the next release at this point.
I''ve fixed all of the major bugs, or at least I think I have. If

Multiple Environment Support
I''ve got a first version of a doc explaining how multiple environment
support will work in the next release:

As always, comments are appreciated. Even if you just don''t
understand what the doc says, please let me know. It''s clear that
the community is generally unhappy with the documentation I
