Ports and WITH_LIBCPLUSPLUS
Hello, I wanted to try the new c++ stuff, ie clang-3.2, libc++ and libcxxrt, so I used poudriere to build a jail setup for that ( WITH_LIBCPLUSPLUS=yes in src.conf, CXXFLAGS+=-stdlib=libc++ and libsupc++.so.1 libcxxrt.so.1 in libmap.conf ), and started to build my normal set of packages ( see desktop.list ). Please note that I also have WITH_NEW_XORG=yes and WITH_KMS=yes, as well as using the

Reconstruct disklabel for UFS and GELI volumes
Hi, Somehow[TM] an installation of 4.11 to ad0s3 managed to wipe out my existing disklabel for 7.0 on ad0s4. I now need to recover the disklabel to get my system to boot! There were three labels - ad0s4a: UFS, exact size unknown. Is it possible to infer this from the UFS partition size? I can mount this already, as I simply wrote an 'a' label of maximum size to the disklabel - ad0s4b:

Mounting a previously Windows (ntfs) file system
Hello, I'm planning a conversion of a Windows server (SBS2011) to Samba. All the user data files are already on a separate disc in the Windows server and my idea is to unplug the Windows boot drive and plug in a FreeBSD installation with Samba 3.6.25 running and tested on another machine. Fortunately it's a small installation and everybody is using the same share on the Windows

GlusterFS on a FreeBSD-Server
Hello I want to use GlusterFS as a nfs substitute for a FreeBSD Server and Linux clients. The FreeBSD-server should export several directories. One of these directories contains the home-directory for the client-mashines. The problem is that my GlusterFS setup isn't very stable and crashes quite often. It is less stable, when more than one volume is mounted, but even when only one volume is

wxRuby and XRC via wxGlade
Hello, I need to finish a small GUI program till friday and I am somewhat stuck. First of all, wxRuby seems to ignore the size request of the frame as defined via XRC (or I''m completly doing the wrong thing!) Second, it complains about the statusbar and doesn''t display it. What am I doing wrong? The files are attached Thank you Ulrich Spoerlein -- PGP Key ID: F0DB9F44

[LLVMdev] SysUtils.c compile problem on Mac OSX 10.3 with llvm-1.4
I am currently running on a Mac OSX 10.3.8 and trying to compile llvm-1.4 on my local machine for Prof. Adve's class. I am using Apple's provided gcc 3.3 as my compiler. I ran into this compile error: SysUtils.c: In function `executeProgram': SysUtils.c:119: error: `RTLD_NEXT' undeclared (first use in this function) SysUtils.c:119: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported

Samba 3.0, fuse-hdfs and write problems
Hi folks, I research at the moment a connection over fuse and samba for hadoop-cluster. Its my private playground, but I have some issues I can't figure out why they happen. I use RHEL5.7, packetlist: rpm -qa|grep samba samba-3.0.33-3.29.el5_7.4.x86_64 samba-common-3.0.33-3.29.el5_7.4.x86_64 2 servers, one provides samba-shares and one I use as client. [panic] ipw and kismet
Hello, I almost always get a panic when running kismet on my ipw-Interface under 6.1-PRERELEASE. This has been the case ever since ipw hit the tree. Sometimes kismet works, sometimes it doesn't. A sure way to trigger the panic is to switch between bss/ibss/monitor mode prior to running kismet. Perhaps there is a bug in the re-initialization when loading a different firmware? Is this panic

Issues with mount(8) and FUSE in 7.1-PRERELEASE
Hi all, I noticed when porting ext2fuse to run on 7.1-PRERELEASE, that the port sysutils/fusefs-ntfs needs some additional steps in order to mount user-space FUSE filesystems on startup. These steps weren't necessary in 6.x. It seems mount(8) can't deal with new mount binaries unless it has been explicitly built with support for them; please see

Samba access of FAT32 mounted file system on FreeBSD
Hi, Firstly background - FreeNAS 0.7.2 (FreeBSD 7.3-RELEASE-p1) Samba 3.5.3 1TB disk, 500GB FAT32 (/dev/da1s1) + 500GB NTFS (/dev/da1s4) Just to clear it up, I'm using FAT32 and NTFS because this is actually a media center box that functions as an external HDD when plugged into USB. I'm using it as a storage device because its quite large a disk, but may from time to time use it as a

Can't boot with a new install
Hi everyone, I just finished installing FreeBSD 6 RELEASE on my Toshiba Tecra A4 laptop and the installation was fine, however, when I rebooted the machine, I don't get the boot loader screen as if the machine can not see my drive! I tried the reinstalling and ensured that I set the slice to be bootable but that didn't change anything. Not sure if this is a common issue with FreeBSD 6 on

Upcoming ABI Breakage in RELENG_7
Normally the FreeBSD Project tries very hard to avoid ABI breakage in "Stable Branches". However occasionally the fix for a bug can not be implemented without ABI breakage, and it is decided that the fix warrants the impact of the ABI breakage. We have one of those situations coming along for RELENG_7 (what will become FreeBSD 7.1). The ABI breakage should only impact kernel modules

Upgrade 10.4 -> 11.1 making problems
Good morning, heal still not running. Pending heals now sum up to 60K per brick. Heal was starting instantly e.g. after server reboot with version 10.4, but doesn't with version 11. What could be wrong? I only see these errors on one of the "good" servers in glustershd.log: [2024-01-18 06:08:57.328480 +0000] W [MSGID: 114031] [client-rpc-fops_v2.c:2561:client4_0_lookup_cbk]

GELI partition mount on boot fails after 7.0 -> 7.1-PRERELEASE upgrade
I was using a GELI partition for /usr/home on 7.0, so it attaches and mounts on boot. The problem is it stopped working after the system was upgraded to RELENG_7/7.1-PRERELEASE. Here's how it goes: I have the following /etc/fstab: /dev/ad0s1b none swap sw 0 0 /dev/ad0s1a / ufs rw 1 1 /dev/ad0s1d
