Hello Folks!
I am trying to learn puppet. Installed the puppet 3.0.2 and configured one
node as the master and the other as the client. Generated the certs and all
that. But, I seem to be doing something wrong wrt to the init.pp file.
Attached is exact error and my current server configuration. Any help in
helping me fix this issue is appreciated:

duplicate definition when inheriting classes
I thought the purpose of classes was that you could redefine types in
the subclasses. However I get "Duplicate definition" errors whenever I
attempt this. On a whim I tried the code from the documentation:

client won't use remote file bucket
Hi all,
I''m having a stupid moment getting a remote file bucket working. My
client only file buckets locally, not remotely.
I have this site.pp:

File { backup => "main" }
node ''default'' {
include test
}

and this test module:

$name causes weird behavior
I tried using $name in this manner:
remotefile { "/etc/auto_direct.local":
mode => 644,
source => "solall/$name"
}
(The remotefile function is handy, BTW)
When I use $name here, instead of specifying the actual path to the
file (solall/etc/auto_direct.local), puppetd ends up making
/etc/auto_direct.local an empty directory.
Shouldn''t $name

To explain where I''m at I have done the following (all based on the Puppet

mixing templates and other methods for a file''s content
Hello there,
I have come to a situation where I would like to mix 2 approaches to
create the contents of a file. Here is what I have:
a module ''sudo'' which manages a hosts /etc/sudoers file:
init.pp:
class sudo {
case $operatingsystem {
Debian: {
package { "sudo": }
}
}

Hi there,
Just started using Puppet since yesterday, so a totally newbie
question. I tried to search the answer by myself but none of the
suggestions actually worked. This is how my "modules" is laid:

Ruby script to download files without 'puppet agent'
We have often the Problem that some files need to be checked for updates
faster than the cycle of the puppet agent. I try to solve this with a
script which tries to download the files directly from the fileserver of
the puppetmaster. So far i couldn''t get it to work.
I don''t know if i got the URL right, i did not find any examples on the

sssd_sudo search results different from command line ldapsearch
Hi all! I'm attempting to configure sudo rights from Samba ldap. Alas,
libsssd_samba receives 0 rules and config doesn't work. I think I have
the problem identified here but I don't understand why. The way
sssd_sudo searches for sudoers leave all important attributes out and
of course filtering then fails. Can you help me to understand why
following search results are so different (and

How to manipulate ldap access rights on Samba 4?
Hi,
I'm having hard time getting sssd_sudo to work: when sssd_sudo
accesses Samba ldap with host principal 'dc1$@teemu.local' it can't
read necessary attributes like objectclass: sudoRole. When accessing
as Administrator all attributes are shown. How can I enable other
users then Administrator to access sudoers' attributes? Below is an
example.

Solaris package woes
I am trying to get Puppet to push out a Solaris sudo package

but when I attempt to push it out via Puppet it fails.

Best Practice: how to organize puppetmaster directories?
Hi,
While puppet creates its own directories for internal stuff (puppetca,
state, etc.), there''s a fair bit of latitude given to where things like
manifests and uploaded files live. I didn''t get much guidance from the
docs when I first set things up so I mostly poked at things until the
worked. Take a look at the following and let me know if this looks
reasonable; if so, it

if /else in expect script
I took your suggestion and turned my (ill advised) sudoers bash script
into an expect script! It works a lot better this way and is more secure.
Because I'm not trying to store a password in a script (which I recognize
as a bad idea anyway, I I think I've learned my lesson here).
It really works well. But the only thing I'm still trying to figure out is
how to put a if statement in
