Modules, namespaces and variables
Hi there,
After quite a long time out of puppet business I''m back, and the first thing
I''m doing is rephrasing my puppet manifests using modules. I started with
the NTP module (a classic, I guess). I have (more or less) the following:
In modules/ntp/manifests/init.pp:
$ntp_localtime = "/usr/share/zoneinfo/Europe/Madrid"
class ntp {

Reusable definitions
Hi there,
I would like to use puppet to configure two networks and one of the first
things I''ve tried to do is to describe ntp configuration. Each network has a
ntp server that acts as a proxy for internal nodes, so those internal nodes
share the same configuration except for the server they use to get the time.
Attempting to describe this I''ve thought of several approaches,

Variable scope: Class inheritance vs Include statement.
Hello.
I''m a long time cfengine user, some might say sufferer, and I have
finally managed to get around to experimenting with Puppet. So far I''m
very impressed.
I am trying to get puppet to configure the openntpd config file, from
an ERB template, based on the node definition in the site config.
What I''m trying to understand is why when I define a variable in a

../libtool: line 1231: cygpath: command not found
You need to put cygpath in your PATH. This might also be why configure
is failing.
Best,
Tristan

[LLVMdev] Cygwin llvm-gcc-4.2 regression
Hi,
I don't seem to be able to solve this regression with llvm-gcc-4.2 on
Cygwin.
It is weird as I thought I had checked SVN TOT and had a good build just
before the branch was corrected, so am confused.
If someone more experienced with debugging could have a look at this, its
like a syntax error. I have tried whittling the error down but it just
moves.
Trying to bisect between r98185 and

ntp policy example question
I would like to configure a linux ntp server on my lan as the ntp server for
my windows xp clients
I'm not able to come to an understandable solution (due probably to my lack
in windows knowledge)
I found this in samba archives:
CLASS MACHINE
CATEGORY !!Time
POLICY !!NTPServer
KEYNAME SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W32Time\Parameters
PART !!NTP_SERVER EDITTEXT

defining client/server configs
Still very new to puppet, so go easy :-) Bit of a braindump I''m
afraid, but I''d really appreciate any "Yep", "interesting", "No!!!"
comments.
I''ll start with an example - adding NTP support. This primarily
consists of two configs:
a) NTP clients
- this is quite easy, it''s a templated file requiring the names of

an external program, which at this stage, is not customizable ...
I don't know if alternatives (LiMO, Android, ...) would be more open to this
customization but for Symbian, not only Nokia SIP client wouldn't let you
autoanswer to SIP calls, but any other SIP client complying to Symbian
design wouldn't support autoanswer.
PS: Please, note that I'm far from being an expert in GSM

nobody can sniff your sessions without a large effort (...)

That's the main reason I opened this thread as it surprised me a bit ...

Even in handset audio circuit ?
I was thinking that any handset is a potential echo source due to this audio
circuit ...
Do you agree ?

[PATCH server] last patch to implement remote freeipa
This completes the last few requirements for remote ipa, one thing to note is that when using remote ipa we do not allow the choice of creating a local dns server on the ovirt node.

dev IFB, few questions
I''ve made some tests...
eth2 is my internal interface, LAN is connected here.
Before I had IMQ device in AB mode...
PREROUTING [A]fter NAT, POSTROUTING [B]efore NAT.
I want the same situation on ifb.
I do this in this way:
---
# incoming traffic here from LAN is before NAT
tc qdisc add dev eth2 handle ffff: ingress
# outcoming traffic here from WAN is after NAT
tc qdisc add dev eth2

Maybe, it's me while following README instructions, maybe README
instructions could be improved or maybe it's wrongly labeled messages ?
That's why I told myself : I'm waiting too much from doc ? is a pure-IP
platform too specific ? what is the official policy ?

connecting legacy PBX to Asterisk (for the very same reason, those PBX use
TE-PTMP).
If others could join this thread and say if they agree or not with NT-PTMP
being the 2nd most needed mode, would be great.
Please, do not hesitate to comment.

Are you certain that removing either 612 or 610 mailbox would keep Asterisk
from complaining ?

Re: Minimum CPU required for >60 calls
Adam,
I thought Andrew Kohlsmith gave the individual good
advice without intentionally malaciously spitting in
the guys face.
For the question, " 'Whats the ' Minimum CPU required
for 60 calls? "
I think a Pentium 3, high end, which is cheap right
now, should do fine, but you will need either 3 T-1s
or
arrange for the calls to come in via SIP, but you will
still need more

puppet dashboard gui looks odd from apache2
I downloaded the puppet-dashboard.git from
http://github.com/puppetlabs/puppet-dashboard and did the installation
in my
ubuntu lucid puppet server following the steps in "Installation".
Now I can run it fine using the WEBrick like this
root@sys-ubuntu { ~/git/puppet-dashboard }$ ./script/server -e production
=> Booting WEBrick
=> Rails 2.3.5 application starting on
