Monitoring puppet
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi *! How do you monitor when the last puppet transaction was successful on a node? I''m searching for something easy like a timestamp, so I can put a nagios watch on this. Custom type
Hi. I have a small problem with the custom type I am working on. I define method ''evaluate'' which is called after all data is been collected. Here it is: module Puppet newtype(:test) do newparam(:name) do end newparam(:listen) do defaultto "silent" end def evaluate puts "evaluating..." return super.evaluate end

Up to date packages for puppet
I was wondering if there would be any benefit to the general community if I made available a debian and ubuntu repository of up to date puppet packages. I have the infrastructure in place anyway for my work (pbuilder + falcon), and can quite easily run up a vhost on a VM somewhere. Debian Etch (4.0) for example has puppet 0.20.1, and will never get a newer version. Ubuntu Feisty has a newer

make check for R-1.6.2 on IBM AIX
Dear all, The 'make check' step fails for the pacakge mva on IBM AIX. The tail of the Rout log file looks like: > for(factors in 2:4) print(update(Harman23.FA, factors = factors)) Call: factanal(factors = factors, covmat = Harman23.cor) Uniquenesses: height arm.span forearm lower.leg weight 0.170 0.107 0.166

plotting picture data
Hi R users I have a dataset which represents points that are market by patients as the source of pain. Basically the patients indicates by a cross on a chest pictures where he/she thinks is the source of pain. The data was then digitalized by divinding the chest into small squares and each square was give value 1 if it was the center 2 if it was touched by the markings and 3 if it was not

Frequency table to histogram
I have read a frequency table in to R called "temp." I now want to create a histogram table from it, but I obviously first have to expand the data - to the sample size of 100. I want to use the command rep(), but I'm not sure how to go about it..I tried using the code: temp1<-rep(temp$Chest,100) hist(temp1) But this creates a v. odd histogram so I know it must be wrong!

reshaping a dataset
Hi, I'm trying to move to R the last few data handling routines I was performing in SAS. I'm working on stomach content data. In the simplified example I provide below, there are variables describing the origin of each prey item (nbpc is a ship number, each ship may have been used on different trips, each trip has stations, and individual fish (tagno) can be caught at each

serialized attribute converting to string on reload
Hello, Anybody help me out? I done googled it good and didn''t find anything (which should mean that I''ve done something wrong). Not much code to talk about here, quite simply I have an attribute that is serialzied and when I update it, irb shows the object and my methods run on it as it were indeed so. Though when I reload it changes the data to a string. Not yaml, just one

Good email client to use with Dovecot?
FWIW, I use claws, which is about the only one not mentioned.? I don't like Thunderbird. For one thing, it is in caretaker status. Mozilla believes Web based mail is the "future." I rather not run roundcube, given I got hacked via an unpatched roundcube ?back when I was using a hosting company. ? Webmail just increases your attack surface.?

GAM for non-integer proportions
Dear list, I´m using the mgcv package to model the proportion by weight of certain prey on the stomach content of a predator. This proportion is the ratio of two weights (prey weight over stomach weight), and ranges between 0 and 1. The variance is low when proportion is close to 0 and 1, and higher at intermediate values. It seems that the best way to go is to model this using the

POP3 STAT command broken (race condition?)
Hi, 4x POP3 over SSL. I login manually using SSL client and issue STAT command - all work. Claws-mail works for one account persistently, the other three always fail. There are no differences between the accounts other than username/pass so I have been unable to determine why this occurs. Also, Evolution works as it uses LIST not STAT. Claws reports: [12:30:40] POP< +OK [12:30:40] POP>

Panel Slider (like on maps.google.com)
Hi, I want to create a panel slider like shown on maps.google.com (click the little triangle on the left side of the map (in the vertical- middle)). I tried several scriptaculous treasure chest thingies .. but they didn''t work. Does anyone know of a way to do this? Always on the spot. It is "liberal in what it receives and conservative in how it sends". Since it is command line program, I can run it almost everywhere. It supports local mailboxes,

Sylpheed-Claws aka Claws-Mail
Question! I took the spec from Claws-Mail (formerly called Sylpheed-Claws) of FC6 and updated it from 2.9.0 to 2.9.1 (correctly I believe). I created the rpms from the build and I suppose I will sign them and put them up on kuei-jin.org. My question is, should I give them to someone to see if what I did is correct? QA?? I didn't edit any source or anything. I know that it works because I

[LLVMdev] local lambdas: request for coding standard clarification/judgement call
Do local lambdas get named like variables or like functions? E.g. void foo() { auto helper = [](...){...}; // or auto Helper = [](...){...}; } My gut is that it should be lowercase (named like a function) since I got a weird feeling in my stomach seeing an upper-case name being called like a function in new code. -- Sean Silva -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment
