Upgrading from older version - how?
Hi there,
We''ve been using previous version of bdrb (drb based one) for a while
and it was running relatively OK. We recently attempted to upgrade to
the new version to keep up / use supported version but we ended up
reverting to the older version.
Here are the things that moved us to revert :

help ith burncd (Input/output error, 6.1-RC, plextor PX-740a)
I have a new system which includes a Plextor PX-740a DVD+-R/RW CD-R/RW
drive attached to an Asus A8V-MX motherboard.
When I try to use burncd to burn a cd, it writes all of the data, says
"fixating CD, please wait.." and then reports
burncd: ioctl(CDRIOCFIXATE): Input/output error
Oddly enough, the CD seems to be usable.
I can successfully burn the same file if I use cdrecord.

I'm trying to use dovecot to set up a 'closed server' (actually, mixed) sort of environment, for a box to be deployed co-located. I wanted to talk about some of that, and see if some of my experience qualifies as 'bug'.

Ext3 needs updated "mount" also + SILO note
Just wanted to note that you also need "mount" => 2.11 to use "auto" in
fstab. On the homepage http://www.uow.edu.au/~andrewm/linux/ext3/ it only
tells you to use "util-linux" => 2.11
Also, a note about SILO not working with unclean Ext3 would be nice (i.e.
make a dedicated ext2 /boot partition if you want to run ext3 on Sparc).

primary bonus of mongrel 1.0.1?
Hello,
I''ve completed the update of all my servers to the new mongrel. No
problems whatsoever to report, well done.
But, I have some colleagues who are wondering what the primary
improvements are to mongrel with this new release.
I read the Change log but it was a bit cryptic for me.
Can anyone provide an executive summary of why 1.0.1 is better than 0.3.xx?

CD Burning with Wine?
Hello,
I just got WINE running under FreeBSD and I was wondering if anyone has
had success getting CD burning programs to work. Specifically, I would
like to use CloneCD. I can use cdrecord / burncd to make data cd's and
backups and the like, but a disk-at-once program is best (IMO) for
copying audio cd's. And, unfortunately, there aren't any dao programs
that support EIDE drives

FreeBSD doesn't find my CD-RW and sometimes my DVD

I've recently installed FreeBSD 4.8 ,and all at the first look was ok ,
this was only a try in a small partition , and now I have decided to

Sharing files/directories with colons in name
Hail SAMBA folks,
I'm having a little difficulty trying to share files and directories that
contain a colon in the filename. With a fairly simple configuration,
everything works as expected sans the colon problem.
On the client end (in my case, Windows 2000 SP2) I get somewhat
unpredictable behaviour. In every case the file (or directory) name gets
mangled in an unfriendly way. For

Burning DVD with files>4GB from console
My backup script split filesystem dumps to files with size of 4,37 GB (4
588 544 kB). It's just an optimal size to fill out DVDs. At this moment
I have to burn them from windows via smb-link becuase I didn't manage to
do this task from FreeBSD console due to 2GB/4GB filesize restrictions
(growisofs). I'm using freeware CDBurnerXP to burn my backups
(ISO9660/UDF/Joliet), and they

dvd+rw+r for FreeBSD -- Progress but no success
That's where I first went for information. I've
successfully burned a CD-R using cdrecord, as opposed
to burncd, which I would normally use for ide burners.
I will check on the firmware.

Hello,
You cannot use Active Directory Administrativ Center because samba has no ADWS implented.
There where efforts and but ADWS did no reach production status. I think Catalyst, Andrew Bartlett tried someting, did not finish it.
Yes you need to use the old RSAT.
