strange puppetd error
Greetings, I''m trying to set up a minimal CentOS 4 kickstart that installs puppet during the %post and then use puppet to build up the rest of the configuration. I''ve gotten things so that puppet 0.20.1-2 will install using yum during the %post in the kickstart, but now I''m seeing this error when it tries to run during %post and after I reboot the newly installed

problem with remotefile definition
Hi, I''m exploring Puppet and have hit a rather weird problem. The puppetmaster server is running CentOS4, fully updated, with puppet installed from the dlutter RPM repo, version 0.20.0-1.el4. I tried adding the remotefile function definition from http://reductivelabs.com/projects/puppet/documentation/installation.html in /etc/puppet/manifests/utils/remotefile.pp but when I start

Brett''s snippet implementation
I''ve been playing with Brett''s file snippet implementation from September 12th today and found a bug. With the following dirsnippet definition define dirsnippet { file { $name : ensure => directory } } if you change the order value of one of your file snippets, Puppet will not remove the snippet with the old order value on it from the snippet directory. Changing the

Bug status for next release
Hi all, I''ve now finished all of the functionality I plan to add in the next release, so all that remains is closing as many open bugs as possible. I''ve gone through and marked all of the bugs I specifically plan on fixing with the ''minor'' milestone. If you have a bug in the db[1] that you think needs to be fixed in the next release but is not

Problem with managesieve proxy
Hi folks, I'm setting up a new dovecot email service and have a proxy server running in front of it to facilitate migrating users from my very old UW-IMAP-based mail server to the new one. I have a mysql proxy table that directs inbound IMAP and LMTP connections to the correct server, works great. Managesieve connections are not working through the proxy using either with the sieverules

Package management
Anyone care to share how they handle yum updates? We have a script that runs yum update nightly and then emails us the results when there are packages to be updated. Ideally I''d like a way to keep a class in site.pp that can be uncommented to run yum update -y after the update list is reviewed by a human. Tim

The user type: restrict login
Hi there, If I create a user, there seems to be no way to restrict it from being able to log in. Is there a simple way in which I can extend it to do that, or will I have to build my own define? It would also be useful to specify the user''s ssh keys and authorized keys, for example. I am also wondering how much effort it would be to add another provider for user (such as

puppetd can set more than one server address
hi,all I want set up a puppet HA structure. but if the puppetd can set more than one server address ,the work will be simple :D if one puppetmaster have error, the client can auto try the next. Draytek Vigor 2900 & Asterisk
I'm in conversation with Draytek's pre-sales dept.............. Here's the most recent reply: <Hello, We really don't know of anyone who has run an Asterisk server on a Vigor2900. There are doubtless people around, but it's relatively rare. Most people don't run SIP servers. Regards,> All I want to know is, if I buy one of these routers, will it break my setup or

Creating variable names
My apologies for asking what is doubtless a dumb question, but I have scant experience in R. It would be very convenient in doing lots of plots to be able to do them in a loop that stepped through a vector of variable names. For example one could say x<-("mydates") y<-c("foo1","foo2","foo3") #where "foon" were vectors

VNC access console of paravirtualised DomU
Hi, I''ve seen this asked a few times, but I just can''t work out whether I am misinterpreting how this is supposed to work, or if it is just broken in my setup. What I want is to be able to see the character cell console of DomU''s via VNC. As far as I understand, when I create/startup the DomU, then a vnc server should start listening on my Dom0. I have tried every

What route do diverted SIP calls travel?
If I have inbound SIP calls arriving from a provider's gateway to an asterisk server on my LAN, which then routes the call back out via the provider's gateway to a PSTN number, once the call is answered do all the voice packets pass through my asterisk PBX, or is SIP intelligent enough to patch the two PSTN ends of the call direct to each other going only via two ports on the

"no pool_props" for OpenSolaris 2009.06 with old SPARC hardware
Hi, yesterday evening I tried to upgrade my Ultra 60 to 2009.06 from SXCE snv_98. I can''t use AI Installer because OpenPROM is version 3.27. So I built IPS from source, then created a zpool on a spare drive and installed OS 2006.06 on it To make the disk bootable I used: installboot -F zfs /usr/platform/`uname -i`/lib/fs/zfs/bootblk /dev/rdsk/c0t1d0s0 using the executable from my new

[LLVMdev] gfortran link failure in current llvm svn
Duncan, I am confused. Shouldn't the gcc 4.2 front-end build behave just like the FSF gcc build. The first stage builds the compilers and the second stage rebuilds them using those from the first stage? list proposal
With the increased traffic as of late, I'm wondering if it is time to split the list again. Specifically I am wondering if it should be split along the various VoIP protocols and zap hardware, then leave a general list that does configuration other than VoIP related? The hope is that those asking SIP or H323 questions could get help from the various supporters while the main list can deal

Hierarchical data sets: which software to use?
Dear R-helpers, I’m writing for advice on whether I should use R or a different package or language. I’ve looked through the R-help archives, some manuals, and some other sites as well, and I haven’t done too well finding relevant info, hence my question here. I’m working with hierarchical data (in SPSS lingo). That is, for each case (person) I read in three types of (medical) record: 1.

ACLs as Standard Component in ext3?
To all: I was wondering if there was any talk regarding the possible inclusion into either kernel 2.4.x or 2.5.x of a general and standard ACL interface for file system security. I've used the ACL patch from acl.bestbits.at on ext3 & love it dearly except for the quota issues. Despite those issues I absolutely could not live without ACL's on large file servers with a few hundred or

very beginner's question
Begging the list's indulgence, an extremely dumb beginner's question. I've got 24 months' worth of numbers - ranging from 2 events per month, to 66 events per month. I want to take a stab at making a reasonable guess as to what the next year's data would be, approximately, i.e., based on the 24 months I've got, I want to be able to tell someone: "the 12 months after

Apostrophes in R Commander in recode
Dear colleagues, I'm using R64 (2.13) on Mac OS 10.6.8 and I've encountered a problem with the recode function in Rcommander. The application cannot deal with apostrpohes ( ' ) do not. I've got a factor from the 2008 Canada Election study (highest level of schooling) and some of the values include "Bachelor's Degree" , "Master's Degree". I've
