March-September 2003 Status Report
Introduction:
The FreeBSD Bi-monthly status reports are back! In this edition, we
catch up on seven highly productive months and look forward to the end
of 2003.
As always, the FreeBSD development crew has been hard at work. Support
for the AMD64 platform quickly sprang up and is nearly complete.

UDF filesystem on 4-STABLE?
Hi all,
I'm trying to find out if UDF support can be added to 4-STABLE.
The web page http://people.freebsd.org/~scottl/udf/ says that such a
thing can be found at http://www.softweyr.com/asmodai/projects/udf,
but the latter URL is broken.
Any pointers will be greatly appreciated.

UDF code for 4-STABLE?
Hi all,
Can anybody point me at the UDF code for FreeBSD 4-STABLE?
There's a link at http://people.freebsd.org/~scottl/udf/ to some code,
but the website (http://www.softweyr.com/asmodai/projects/udf) doesn't
have the code any more.
Many thanks in advance!

RELENG_6_1
Hi,
According to the webpage [1], 6.1 has been branched on April 5. However,
I noticed that there is a tag called RELENG_6_1, not a branch called
RELENG_6_1. For example, sys/conf/newvers.sh [2], rev 1.69.2.11,
is on RELENG_6 branch with tag RELENG_6_1_BP and RELENG_6_1.
It is a bit strange for me. At least, we have RELENG_X_Y branch before
and RELENG_X_Y_BP tag. Is there any special reason that

CFT: FreeBSD Package Base
FreeBSD Community,
I'm pleased to announce a CFT for builds of FreeBSD 12-stable and 13-current
using "TrueOS-inspired" packaged base. These are stock FreeBSD images which
will allow users to perform all updating via the 'pkg' command directly.
Rather than trying to answer all questions in this announcement, we've
created a FAQ page with more details. Please refer to

boot problem in HP Proliant ML370 G4
Hi,
I have strange problem when booting FreeBSD-6.x in HP Proliant ML370 G4.
The problem is "-" appears on the screen and it never boots unless
somebody hits the
"Enter" key. Sometimes even PS2 keyboard doesn't respond during that
time. Tried with
USB keyboard, same problem.
The machine has dual Xeon 3.2 GHz, 1GB of RAM and LSI Logic

link_elf: symbol cam_simq_alloc undefined
Hello,
I'm trying to upgrade from 5-stable to 6-stable; after rebooting to the
new kernel, the amr(4) module (amr.ko) refuses to load with this message:
link_elf: symbol cam_simq_alloc undefined
However, a quick nm(1) on /boot/kernel/cam.ko does show:
...
0000f0ac T cam_sim_set_path
0000efc4 T cam_simq_alloc
0000efd4 T cam_simq_free
...
and cam.ko is already loaded before amr.ko.

Dell Perc 6 disk geometry problem with RAID5 (both 6.3 final and 7.0 RC1)
Hi,
We bought a new Dell PowerEdge 2950III with Perc 6/i and have the disk
geometry problem using 6.3 final or 7.0 RC1. Seems that we are not alone at
least one guy has similar problem reported earlier:

I was reading the mailing list and found that some of the people are happily

I've seen OrcJit is under overhaul, and also the MCJIT, so what's the plan?
I didn't seen any roadmap and plan about OrcJit & MCJIT.
And would OrcJIT be stablize in version 7.0? Or latter version?
Would MCJIT be removed in source tree, when?
