Does any one know how to build a virtual network interface with vlan ID in dom0?
Dear all:     I met a problem recently.     I am using Xen to build my virtual network, and vlan ID is used to seprate different virtual networks. At first I built the network bridge with a physical network device with vlan as its port directly. Then my virtual host could send and recieve normal packets while these packets are encapsulated in vlan ethernet frames once they come into physical

The goal is 1)make freebsd to lock users after 3 unsuccessful login attempts, 2)force users to change their passwords every 90 days I've done such changes in Linux distros, with various PAM modules. But in Freebsd it seems that i need to use login.conf file. Here I made necessary changes in that

How Does the Interaction Between Facter, Clients, and the Server work
Group - I''m putting a presentation together for $work (a large .gov) and I want to make sure I get my facts (pun intended) straight ... Are the following steps for Facter-Client-Server interaction correct (I have a feeling not): 1. Client puppet run is initiated (via regular schedule, puppetrun, or puppetd) 2. The client contacts the server and downloads any custom facts it does not

graphically accessing pv guest
Hi all, I''m trying to expand the screen resolution of my guest when using vnc. It appears I need to use the extra variable in my guest config file and xenfb. I pass it in like this: extra = ''xenfb.video=8,1024,768'' I can see this being passed to the kernel when it boots but it doesn''t change the vnc screen resolution. I also see this when I type ps -ef |

New list ?
Hi, Taking this to a new thread. Thoughts on getting a new list started up ? Should it be centos-sysadmin or centos-infra ? Are we going to then restrict it to admin/infra related chatter ? in which case, does the eyeball density on this list reduce for that sort of content ? How about the politics and news stuff that gets posted to this list. And how would those things be addressed with

ANNOUNCE: Puppet workshop at LISA
Hi all, I will be running a workshop on Puppet at LISA[1] this year. It will hopefully be focused more on development than usage, but anyone interested in Puppet''s ongoing future is welcome. The workshop will be Sunday, the first day of the conference, and the workshop cost is $150 and includes lunch. I expect to spend most of the day working on development ideas for Puppet, but

bce and "Warning: bootcode thinks driver is absent."
Recently under amd64 and 9.1-STABLE I am seeing issues with the bce driver. Message is "Warning: bootcode thinks driver is absent". After this message, the box appears to be wedged. After rebooting, it got the same message during fsck. So we installed 9.2 pre-release using a snapshot iso from 7/13/13. Shortly after boot we got the same message. We are now in the process of

Brainstorming - how to manage Shorewall rules
Shorewall (IP Tables frontend - www.shorewall.net) has been kind of a headache in trying to move forward with puppet - we just haven''t found a clean way to manage the "rules" file. With that in mind - would it be possible to create a "shorewall_rule" type? The rules file is a simple file with space/tab delimited fields: (I can provide a detailed explanation of each
