Johnny's site hacked?
Or is it some sort of inside joke? http://www.hughesjr.com/ If it's a bona fide hack, I'd be curious to know how the culprit got in. The the distro's maintainer has gotten burgled one would think that a lot of other systems are at risk. Cheers,

keylib32.dll problem
Hi all, I'm new to wine (and pretty new to Linux), and have just built and fiddled a bit with a Xandros distribution. This is based on Debian woody, and comes with Crossover Office 1.3.0-2. I installed Visio 2000 which went right "out of the box" including a VB runtime update and 2 virtual reboots - awesome. Next I tried to install an antenna simulation programme called EZNEC3

extended Kalman filter for survival data
If you mean this paper by Fahrmeir: http://biomet.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/content/abstract/81/2/317 I would recommend BayesX: http://www.stat.uni-muenchen.de/~bayesx/. BayesX interfaces with R and estimates discrete (and continuous) time survival data with penalized regression methods. If you are looking for a bona fide Bayesian survival analysis method and do not wish to spend a lot of time

Boot failed on latest CentOS 7 update

Am I wrong? > Secure booting using UEFI requires that the code is signed - that is the "secure" bit. Microsoft are the CA for that signing. There's nothing sinister about it, they aren't signing the RPM

Hello, I'm running into problems while trying to build libvorbis. My build platform is Solaris 10 (sparc) (11/06) with GCC 3.4.6. The build fails with the following error : Making all in examples gmake[2]: Entering directory `/afs/cad.njit.edu/u/a/n/andym/ftp/freeware/multimedia/ogg/libvorbis-1.2.0/examples' gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I.. -I../include

Discussion: Spam on R-help
[re-sending this one since it apparently didn't get through yesterday] Hi Folks, I just had a look at the r-help archive for the still-young month of August, and happened to notice that out of 49 postings there, 20 were assorted spam of all-too-familiar types. I'm wondering (discussion point) whether this might suggest that the list should adopt a more restrictive policy. Apparently, as

OggPCM2: channel map

Channel map type tells us what the primary interpretation of the stored signals is. Channel definitions are there to tell which stored channel corresponds to which abstract channel in the type. Channel conversions define downmixes to secondary formats, as they do in MLP,

Error code 1 during 'make install'(FreeBSD 4.6.2)
Hello, When doing "make install" under any port, I get *** Error code 1 after the "Checking if *** already installed" (see below for help2man as an example). This error seems to occur with any port, such as apg (/usr/ports/security/apg). The tarball are fetched from Internet. I think this is due to the difference of version : CVS has RELENG_4_6_2 and 'make

Reasons not to answer very basic questions in a straightforwa rd way; was: Re: creating a sequence of object names
I'd like to make just a couple of points: R-help is considered by quite a few people to be "high-traffic". As such, many have low appetite for very basic questions. (I wouldn't call them "silly".) In many cases such questions are answered by pointing to a particular function help page or manual section. In this particular case, it's probably not at the very

Ashlee Vance's article on R in the New York Times
Ashlee Vance's article on R in the New York Times. This is typical of the New York Times. Because they get to coast on the prestige and reputation of their brand , they have a history of just this sort of journalistic sloppiness. Whether it's the author or the editor at fault doesn't really matter, they do this screw-up all the time. Look, if you write an article on the first page of

Make errors in /usr/src/release/sysinstall
I'm cvsupping 4.8-STABLE to 4.8-STABLE. The cvsup run finished about 23:32 on 7/13. After make buildworld, make buildkernel, mergemaster -p, make installworld, and mergemaster -v, I do (per mostgraveconcern, RIP): cd /usr/src/release/sysinstall make clean make all install The 'make all install' gives errors: In file included from keymap.c:40: keymap.h:4436: `keymap_be_iso'
