Hi , I'm disperated I've recently installed FreeBSD 4.8 ,and all at the first look was ok , this was only a try in a small partition , and now I have decided to install it in a bigger partition , so I've downloaded the 5.1 ISO (to give it a try too) and I've tried to BURN it with "burncd" . I thought maybe I had commented something necessary (like CD9660), but even if I change ident and filename from GENERIC to something other after mount /cdrom I get this error: "cd9660: /dev/acd0c: Device not configured " (ofcourse I had put cd into the cdrom ) while using GENERIC kernel

Audio CD problem on laptop VGN-SZ61MN
Is there anyone out there who has installed FreeBSD on the above Sony laptop ? Both ''cat filename > /dev/dsp0.0'' or ''vlc cdda:///dev/acd0@1 are OK. If I run ''cdcontrol -f /dev/acd0 play'', there is no sound. But the output of ''cdcontrol -f /dev/acd0 status audio'' is alright. (same behaviour for cd0 instead of acd0) And the output

Mount DVD-RAM - device entry missing
Hi, whenever I want to mount a DVD-RAM, I have a little problem because the corresponding device entry (eg cd0a, acd0a) does not exist. This will be created after trying to mount /dev/cd0 instead of /dev/cd0a, but I am not sure if this is the correct behaviour ;-) # ls /dev/acd* /dev/acd0 /dev/acd1 # mount /dev/acd0 /home/hk/mnt/ mount: /dev/acd0 on /usr/home/hk/mnt: incorrect super

Failure of gvinum after panic
Hi all, I have some problems with my gvinum setup after the system panic'ed. Afterwards the system fails finding the plexes to the subdisks (or at least that is what I can understand after having searched the gvinum source code for the error string in the DMESG log..) The machine is an IBM Netfinity 5000 and the internal HW self tests does not find any errors in the hw. Luckily my root is

[Fwd: Re: [Fwd: Re: Still ATAPICAM Lockup/Slowdown]]
Thomas, Have spoken to Soren, from my bootlog he believes that the problem is in atapicam causing the system to lock up. He is happy to answer some questions but doesnt have time to delve into atapicam himself. Did you author atapicam, I have seen your name on the sourcecode, can you help me further? Whats next? Thanks Adam. -------------- next part -------------- An embedded message was

I just compiled and installed the application; but I can't burn to a DVD+RW on a Sony DRU-500A. command: growisofs -Z /dev/acd0c -rl ./testfile result: ":-( unable to CAMGETPASSTHRU for /dev/acd0c: Inappropriate ioctl for device" The DVD+RW website:

DTMF in the middle of a call
I found this old post using a Google search for DTMF tones heard during an Asterisk call. The calling party does not hear them, only the called party. We are experiencing this sporadic DTMF "beep" followed by a momentary silence on a random number of our calls. This happens on trunk to SIP and SIP to SIP calls, so it's not PRI related. Since this thread is dated 2003, and the

Creating a scrolling effect with slider
I''m currently working on a method to implement a scroller for a div using a slider. I need to do this as an alternative to making a stylish flash scroller with content. The main advantage of this method is to allow the ability to style the sliding elements cross browser (and maybe as a future add on... the ability to have a scroll.to for a scrolling div). This is my first attempt at

bwi: no DS tssi no OFDM tssi
Hello, I am attempting to get by broadcom wifi card up and running, am sick of trying to get ndis working, and am attempting to use the bwi driver (originating in dragonflyBSD). I'm hoping others here have tried to do the same and have some pointers. I'm using 7.1-RELEASE (system/source are in-sync) and my card is a BCM94306MP. My dmesg is posted below. Bwi(4) is installed and it

[FreeBSD] Fix for ServerWorks HT1000 in upcoming 7.1?
Hi, I have a server (Dell PowerEdge SC1435, ServerWorks HT1000) on which I'd like to try installing FreeBSD. I've already failed to make 7.0 work on this box and was wondering if you have information about the behavior of the upcoming 7.1 on this hardware. I've been following the "HT1000 chipset errata saga" thread, and the commits by sos@ to CVS (around Jan 2008), but have

Hardware recommendations for XEN
Hi, I am new to this list. I am planning for hardware upgrade for a new Linux installation, and I am planning to have it Xen-based. I am planning to use stable Xen 2.x. This is not going to be a hyper-performance computer, just a home computer. So here are few questions I have: What configurations of CPU/Motherboard/Chipset etc. are already known not to work, or have problems with Xen? Are
