Friend's post in moderation queue for a week... why so long, please? And getting "permission denied" trying to mount an SMB share
Hi. A friend of mine (Jim Fancher) is having trouble with his Samba install on CentOS Linux. I suggested he ask on the Samba users mailing list. He joined the list and posted, and got an autoreply saying his message is being held for moderation. That was a week ago (Mon, Nov 22nd). Nothing since. I see other posts coming through since then, so wondering why his message got delayed. It was

replicating aov results with lmer
I am trying to replicate the results of an aov command with lmer, to understand the syntax, but I can't quite figure it out. I have a dataset from Montgomery p. 520 with a nested and factorial layout. There are 3 fixtures, 2 layouts (the treatments) in a factorial design, but the operators who perform the runs are nest in layouts (4 operators per layout=8 different operators). Thus, each

regular exprs
Dear All, I would appreciate any help with the following: given the vector 'x' x <- c("Ass1", "Ass.s1", "Ass2", "Ass.s2") I would like to pick up the positions where the character string contains "Ass" but does not contain "Ass.s", so for 'x' that would be positions 1 and 3. I guess this could be programmed around

Benchmarking
I wasted too much time today doing this, but they do show a few interesting things: 1) mmap_disable=yes is faster than mmap_disable=no. I didn't expect this. I'm not yet sure why this is, but possibly because then it updates the mail index by reading the changes from dovecot.index.log, instead of reopening and re-mmaping dovecot.index. At least that's the biggest difference between

I have been using Icecast to host live police scanner audio, along with Darkice. Besides hosting my own streams I also provide my stream to Radio Reference/Broadcastify to make my stream available to smartphone users. Anyway I have found that if the Broadcastify server goes down it also causes by locally hosted feed to be unavailable. Now this is probably more of a Darkice issue because it is

ActionMailer Automatically sends an email everyday at a specific time.
Hi, I would like to have a notification system where an email is sent to specific addresses every morning with different contents everyday. The contents are stored in the data, but the number of recipients is a few. So, it''s not a gigantic task. I will be using ActionMailer on Rails 2.0.2, but I can''t come up with a way to trigger the method to send the emails at a given time

Office to Office via IAX2 problems
I'm going to try and lay out all the relevant information I have here in this one post. I can provide more info if necessary. ISSUE 1: Office A routinely looses connection to Office B. When typing IAX2 Show Peers, it will show as Unreachable. I issue IAX2 Reload and it will work again for 1-3 days (haven't narrowed the time down yet). My theory is that the DSL at Office2 is changing
