fxp multicast forwarding problems
Hi, Whilst doing some QA work on XORP on my desktop, which has fxp0 and msk0, fxp0 got totally hosed. I was running PIM-SM and IGMPv2 router-mode on the box at the time. I wonder if this is related to the problems with fxp multicast transmission I saw back in April. I'm a bit concerned about this as fxp is still a very widespread and useful network chip. I am running

Health check
Hi I have a quad processor Compaq Proliant 5500. The output from dmesg seems strange (I have also sent a copy to freebsd-smp to ask about smp issues) and there are also some performance issues which I suspect are smp related. Could anyone who fels so inclined please take a look at the output and let me have any comments. Thanks _______________________________ Copyright (c) 1992-2002 The

recent stability problems with fxp driver
I've spent the past four days or so updating machines here to 4.8/9-stable via cvsup, and have done a complete make buildworld/kernel on each machine (some SMP, some single processor). It seems something is broken with the latest fxp driver, on each machine (different mobos and hardware configs) heavy network traffic with fxp NICs causes timeouts and random kernel panics. First machine to

snort, postgres, bridge
I've been prowling through the FreeBSD and Snort list archives in search of information on setting up snort on a FreeBSD bridge(4) that logs to a remote postgres box via a third interface (hme0) Snort is being started with the following command: /usr/local/bin/snort -A full -D -e -d -s -i fxp0 -c /usr /local/etc/snort.conf Where fxp0 and fxp1 are in the bridge output from sysctl:

"Element not found" when connecting to sysvol
I have two samba DCs (4.0.9) and no Windows DCs, and group policy is failing. I've narrowed it down to an error accessing the sysvol folder. Some clients (not all clients) get the error "Element not found" when connecting to our sysvol folder which is "\\ahc.pdc\sysvol\". The problem seems to be intermittent, a client may suddenly start working again, or suddenly stop.

Fatal Trap 12: page fault while in kernel mode on IBM x340 after Aug25CVS
Hi, We did an upgrade of one of our machines from an Aug 25 CVS and ever since then one of the machines likes to reboot about once a day. The machine is the following: IBM x340 2x1GHZ Processors 1GB RAM 3x36GB Drives (RAID 5) Mylex ExtreRAID 352 In the panic it mentions httpd, but I don't *think* it's apache (1.3.27) that's causing the problem, or am I wrong? I also believe it is

[PATCH 23/28] lib82596: convert from dma_cache_sync to dma_sync_single_for_device
Use the proper modern API to transfer cache ownership for incoherent DMA. Note that this moves the DMA helpers to the main lib82596.c file, so that they can use virt_to_dma. [PATCH 11/18] lib82596: convert to dma_alloc_noncoherent
Use the new non-coherent DMA API including proper ownership transfers. This includes moving the DMA helpers to lib82596 based of an ifdef to avoid include order problems. [PATCH 11/17] sgiseeq: convert to dma_alloc_noncoherent
Use the new non-coherent DMA API including proper ownership transfers. This includes adding additional calls to dma_sync_desc_dev as the old syncing was rather ad-hoc. Thanks to Thomas Bogendoerfer for debugging the ownership transfer issues.
