Additions: Boot problem on a P4P800-based computer
Hi again, Anyone has an idea how to debug this problem? I tried nearly everything possible, including disabling devices in the BIOS and in CLI mode. I even replaced the CD-ROM drive with another one, just in case it is faulty. The problem persists... The thing that is hanging the probing session comes after PLIP. That's where the boot process always stops... Next thing is to remove the hard

motherboard to use with CentOS 3
I'm about to build a server. I want to use a P4, and have lotsa RAM, I don't need audio, I do want to do RAID, but I'll do software RAID if hw isn't available for IDE. the RH hardware list seems rather woefully out of date, does anyone have any recommendations for a good motherboard guaranteed to work? I'm looking at ASUS P4P800-E-deluxe which has a driver on the ASUS site

:: BIOS Motherboard Settings ::
I am using an ASUS P4P800 Deluxe which is a motherboard that has been tested with Asterisk. I am unsure about the PCI slot and IRQ settings in the BIOS and am having problems with a WCFXO card sharing with other devices. Any suggestions on the settings required for Asterisk to avoid IRQ conflicts? Thanks :) -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

The semaphore timeout period has expired
Hello Hamish. I found your message just googling for Suse and sk98lin. Did you solve your problem? I had the same case and only way to restore was to change NIS driver speed settings from AUTO to 10Mb. And it was not related to OS as the same problem is in WXP ( I have dual boot, ASUS P4P800, integrated GB NIS ). Oleg.

Sudden and unexplained reboots
Hello, I'm having a problem in one of the FreeBSD boxes that I manage. All of a sudden, and for no particular reason, the machine just reboots abruptly. When it loads up again, I cannot see an indication that there's anything wrong in the configuration. By the way, the machine is running like this for few months, and no changes were made lately. Machine has 2GB RAM, RAID-5 disk array and

Is my card bad?
Hi, I have a 1 port T1 card in an asus p4p800-vm board with a 2.0g Celeron, and 512m of 266mhz ram (256 on each channel). This board has video, Ethernet, and serial ata all on-board, I got it because of that, there wouldn't be anything else on the pci bus that would mess with the zaptel card(s). So, here's my problem. I'm running redhat 9 with kernel 2.4.20-20.9. I can load the

Via 4610 RAID chipset on ASUS P4P800 under CentOS 4.1
Has anyone had any success getting this chipset's ATA RAID controller to appear under CentOS 4.1? If so, can they break it down for me in easy to understand steps? -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... FreeBSD and serial ata
Dear List, This is my second post since I did not receive any answers the first time. I have P4P800-VM motherboard with serial ata controlers (ICH5) and serial ata discs. I managed to install FreeBSD 4.9-STABLE on this box when setting the IDE controller in legacy mode. Everything works normal except when booting, the drives are set into UDMA33 mode: atapci0: <Intel ICH5 SATA150

Samba on STABLE
Hi, I installed Samba 3.0 from ports (latest 4.8-STABLE) but I couldn't find few files after installation, like make_smbcodepage (http://us1.samba.org/samba/docs/man/make_smbcodepage.1.html) and others, like the code page example files. Where are the files? A side note: how can I change installation directory when making 'make' in ports? Noor

[Bridge] [PATCH v2] net: add ETH_P_802_3_MIN
Add a new constant ETH_P_802_3_MIN, the minimum ethernet type for an 802.3 frame. Frames with a lower value in the ethernet type field are Ethernet II. Also update all the users of this value that David Miller and I could find to use the new constant. Also correct a bug in util.c. The comparison with ETH_P_802_3_MIN should be >= not >. As suggested by Jesse Gross. Compile tested only.

conflict between Realtek 8139 (client) and 3c2000T (server) NIC's with Samba?
Hi, Last friday I changed the NIC in two of our Samba servers from a 3com 905b (100mb) to a 3com 2000T (1000mb) to take advantage of our new switch which supports gigabit. One of the workstations (XP SP1, with all subsequent patches and hotfixes and with an onboard Realtek 8139) then started to have problems with the two Samba servers with the new NIC's. It could see the network

Ubuntu packages for 0.9.18 and .19 broken?
Hi :) I'm having enormous probs with the Budgetdedicated APT repo on Ubuntu dapper... 0.9.17 works a treat, but 0.9.18 and 0.9.19 immediately call the debugger on /any/ app, even winecfg + /usr/bin/notepad.. I've tried deleting my .wine dir, and always ensure there is no wineserver hanging around, but always to the same end effect: gdh@plip:~$ rm -r .wine gdh@plip:~$ notepad wine:

Problem with pxelinux "localboot 0" option.
Hi all, hopefully someone in the list will be able to advise me on what to do with a problem that's bugging me. I have a number of machines that simply have problems understanding "localboot 0". My configuration is such that after the machines happily remotely install via PXE+kickstart the "default" file on the PXE server will resort to telling the client to boot from
