Kerberos5 / Heimdal
I have FreeBSD-6.1 and it appears the default installation has a full
complement of Kerberos5. But, /usr/src/kerberos5/README states:
This subtree is world-exportable, as it does not contain any
cryptographic code.
At the time of writing, it did not even contain source code, only
Makefiles and headers.
Please maintain this "exportable" status quo.
Thanks!

make buildworld ignoring NO_MAILWRAPPER=true
For the last few system builds, I've noticed that the variable in
/etc/make.conf NO_MAILWRAPPER=true is being ignored, resulting in my
sendmail (different than stock version) being overwritten.
This applies to 4.8-STABLE; is this a known issue.

Weird error when using VI on FreeBSD-4.x
I'm getting this error from time-to-time when using VI under
FreeBSD_4.9-prerelease:
Error: input: Resource temporarily unavailable
Basically, VI just exits/crashes (no core dump).
The load average is pretty low:
4:18PM up 10 days, 23:42, 4 users, load averages: 0.13, 0.21, 0.21
And I don't seem to have any other problems with the system.
Wondering what this might be, or if

That must be someone?s backport. As someone who migrated a mod_perl based app off of mod_perl several years ago, I recommend that you do not use it, unless you have old

Yes, that's how SCL works. A lot of system software uses perl (and
python and gcc) so replacing the installed version without testing the
effect it might have on the system is not advisable. i.e. things will
break. The whole point

recompiled mod_perl insists on old perl dependency
Hello,
In order to overcome a known performance bug in perl-5.8.8-10 in
centos 5 (see https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=196836) I
downloaded the perl package from fedora 8
(http://mirror.internode.on.net/pub/fedora/linux/releases/8/Fedora/source/SRPMS/perl-5.8.8-30.fc8.src.rpm)
and mod_perl

Using Amazon S3 storage for Maildir ?
I wonder if anyone has tried using an IMAP server with Amazon S3 as a
backend. There would be many factors to consider (speed, etc).
However, moreso, I don't know that Maildir(++) would support multiple
folders that might be linked into the cloud. For example, higher-I/O
local incoming mail is on disk, some folders archived on S3. Could be
easily done by simply creating another

Rsync resource consumption, whilst building a large file list
I need to rsync a large collection of files (images) that number in the
1000's. We have 2 repositories, one was mass-copied recently, the other
has since had updates performed. The initial copy took over 5 hours to
complete ;-) What we want is only to update the destination (old) copy
with newer files, delete anything that shouldn't be there.
What I'm trying to determine is

Leaflet maps. Nudging co-incident markers
I have a dataset showing points, with a category for each point and its location.
I simply want to display my points, in a way that users can toggle the points on and off by category.
Where I have two objects in the same category I'd like to display them nudged to appear as two distinct, but very close points.
I have made reproduceable example (the places are not real), which is loosely

IPv6, HE tunnel and ip6tables problems
CentOS 5.5, fully patched.
I have a HE tunnel (tunnelbroker.net) IPv6 tunnel. This works pretty
well and is simple to setup. Everything works fine.
Until I try to set up an ip6tables firewall.
eg if I try to view https://dnssec.surfnet.nl/?p=464 then the page never
displays and the firewall shows

annotation problems (conditional text())
Hello,
I'm trying to annotate my plots nicely and am running into trouble.
This example contains two problems:
a) the 'text()' arguments do not show the conditional behavior I'm
trying to give them. I try to test for the intercept of my regression
and reformat the output accordingly ('+ intercept' in the >= 0 case and
'- sqrt(intercept^2)' in the other case),

Upgrading Perl (modules) / RequestTracker
I'm attempting to install RequestTracker on CentOS 6.5. Running "make
testdeps" as recommended by RT's installation guide, I'm presented with
lists of missing Perl modules.
One of these lines reads:
Encode >= 2.39 ...MISSING
Now, "yum whatprovides '*/Encode.pm' " informs me that that module is
part of the core Perl distribution, and is

Efficient way to substract all entries in two vectors from each other
Hi all,
I'm to inexperienced to come up with the matrix solution elusively appearing
on the horizon for the following problem and would appreciate if you could
give me a nudge ...
I have two vectors a, and b and need to find the closest match for each
value of a in b.
How to do that efficiently?
Thanks, Joh

create an smb.conf and run testparm on that file I get the exact

Hi,
I am trying to install a package that requires the perl XML::Parser module.
