top failure
Hello gentlemen,
I've discovered an interesting failure on some machine running
4.7. It's so weird so I'd very unlikely notice it at all, but
thanks to top(1): when launched, instead of displaying some
useful figures it exits with an error: "top: nlist failed".
>From quick look it appears that kvm_nlist() returns NULL for
nlst[0].n_type. Strange, ignoring; next exit point

Please help, updated to 4.8 serious issues
Greetings,
After I updated my FreeBSD box from 4.7 to 4.8 I "lost" my users, but
heck with users, what I mean by lost is that I can't login, when I try
to login as the root or a regular user it says:
pam_authanticate: permission denied
so, I went ahead and re-updated my box from the very beginning,
including unnecessary at this point cvsup. I used this command: make

PCI device assignment to guests (userspace)
Userspace patches for the pci-passthrough functionality.
The major updates since the last post are:
- Loop to add passthrough devices in pc_init1
- Handle errors in read/write calls
- Allow invocation without irq number for in-kernel irqchip
Other than this, several small things were fixed according to review comments received last time.

What do you think of mergemaster -i option ?
Yeah, I don't have luck with mergemaster, may be after another 100 times
I run it I will educate myself to properly use it.
So, would '-i' option help me to automate the process?
Best Regards, Anton

buildworld tries to write to DESTDIR?
Hi!
I'm trying to cross-compile 4.8-STABLE world to install
it over NFS later.
I have ./make.conf:
# start of file
CPUTYPE=i486
KERNCONF?=CONS
MODULES_WITH_WORLD=true
DESTDIR=/mnt/cons
# end of file
I run:
dir=`pwd`
make __MAKE_CONF=$dir/make.conf buildworld 2>&1 | tee $dir/bw.log
It fails:

/usr/src/sys/conf/newvers.sh, SYSDIR set to wrong directory.
Hello,
My 9-STABLE buildworld broke in a very inexplicable way, I was
getting an error on /usr/src/include/osreldate.h that I couldn't
figure out until I started looking at the sys/conf/newvers.sh and what
it does. It turned out that the thing that broke my buildworld was
having .git directory at the root directory of the system because I
recently started using GIT to track the configuration

Panic asus a7m266 with 2 512Mb PC2400 DDR333 memory
Hi,
Last thursday, I installed (20/Mar/2003) 2 kingston valueram
512Mb PC2400 DDR333 (KVR333X64C25/512) sticks on my A7M266 running
up to date -STABLE. The system became unstable right after installation,
any form of system load triggered a kernel panic: "Page Fault While
In Kernel Mode". My main test was the usual 'make buildworld'.
I became worried about the quality of the
