Rsyncing UPdate repo yoyoing
It has been crazy this past week how a rsync on the update repo keeps downloading a number of openoffice.org rpms then deleting them. And the repodata directory seems to be messed up so that I have problems on some systems doing updates with it. My rsync script is: #!/bin/sh rsync -auv rsync://mirrors.kernel.org/centos/5.2/updates/i386/ \ --delete --exclude=debug/

Major update and again no new repodata
Yesterday I pulled down a major update to OpenOffice. But no updates to repodata. I waited a day to see if there was some reason for the lag (like more rpms needed to complete the set), but still today, no repodata to pull down (my rsync looks for more recent file dates). Help?

CESA-2013:0898 & CEBA-2013:0902, centos 5.9 repodata not pushed?
Johnny (& other CentOS folks), Am I being fooled by some proxies between me and centos (and all the centos mirrors, which what I normally use), or has the repodata for CentOS 5.9 updates not been updated since 03-Jun-2013 12:08? I was under the impression that the repodata on the main centos servers was updated about the same time as any CentOS-announce message going out, unless I also see a

The repodata directory is currently broken on several, if not all, mirrors for the 6.5 iso files
The repodata directory on all 6.5 isos that I have sampled have an issue where the file names don't have extensions resulting in a yum repo error on installation just after disk partitioning. This error prompts you with the choice between either allowing you choose another repo or to exit the installer. I remedied this issue with the following: [root at testserv /root/test/centos]$ find

TinyCA2 on rpmforge EL4 but not EL5
I want to install TinyCA2 on my Centos5 setup. I had a real learning experience the last time around (last year, July) and in the end, I got the repo down from Dag's site and was cool. Now I am on Centos 5 and no TinyCA2. Can I just download the EL4 rpm from: http://apt.sw.be/redhat/el4/en/i386/dag/repodata/repoview/tinyca2-0-0.7.5-2.el4.rf.html and do a yum localinstall ? Or do I have

Repodata filename problem in CentOS-6.5-x86_64-bin-DVD1.iso ?
Originally posted as "Problem installing Centos 6.4/6.5 from USB stick seen as HDD by BIOS" Further testing seems to indicate there is some odd issue with the file names in the repodata directory. During installation, after the partitioning stage, anaconda logs an error trying to access the file

Missing repodata/ for CentOS 8 on
Hi folks, I've noted that the CentOS 8 debuginfo repo lacks the repodata/ directory: http://debuginfo.centos.org/8/x86_64/ Did the maintainers forget to upload it? It does have all the .rpm files under the Packages/ sub-directory though: http://debuginfo.centos.org/8/x86_64/Packages/ And no repodata/ there either. Also, I've noted the 8-stream/ directory which is empty. Is it

Problem with local base repo
Last night my rsync got some 'new' files for the base repo and new repodata. This morning, I set a server to upgrade from 5 to 5.1 by setting it to access my local base and updates repos. I got the following error: Resolving Dependencies --> Populating transaction set with selected packages. Please wait. ---> Downloading header for openssh-clients to pack into transaction set.

Repodata for 5.4 updates?
I'm seeing the updates for 5.4 roll out (per Karanbir's tweet on October 26), but there haven't been any updates to the repodata, thus, yum isn't seeing the updates. Is this on purpose? Maybe I've just not noticed this before, if this is standard update roll-out procedure. Thanks, Kevin

Is there a FC8 update repo out there?
So I need python 2.5.1, and all of its dependecies. And 2.5.1 is at least in FC8. So this leads to wanting to try to do the update right via yum, thus needing a repo. Does such a thing exist? I find a directory out there, but no repodata directory with it: http://rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/fedora/updates/testing/8/

Script to sync with repo
under 5.6 I have a script that runs every night to rsync the repodata for local installations. I added the 6.0 to do the same. Something seems wrong now for 6.0. I do the same thing and I get errors from my local repo at install time. Seems like the cyrus-sasl package is never happy and aborts the installation. Is something wrong with the script below? It seems like it successfully copies

update repo problem?
I'm trying to install the build dependencies for an SRPM using yum-builddep, and it's telling me that it can't get the repo sqlite file for updates-source from vault. Any ideas? Something wrong with my repo configuration? The only thing I've done that should have touched the repo configuration is installing epel-release-7-1.noarch. Thanks! Eric [root at localhost SRPMS]#

Lots of Centos 5.2 updates already
I just completed my first 5.2 install. For 'completeness' I 'tested out' yum update. Guess what? For this minimum install, there were 43Mb of updates to download. So I went over to my local repo server and setup a /centos/5.2/updates directory and started the rsync to get all the updates: 155 files taking up 943Mb. Already. Wow! Perhaps something to do with the initial
