Service Availability
I''m still tinkering, moving over code from CFE to Puppet in a test environment. One item I did with CfE was manage services. If something wasn''t running, it was restarted. Puppet''s service integration makes this easy. The flip side, is how do you guarantee Puppet''s running? I pulled some tricks with CfE to ensure it was always running. I made CfE a direct

Absolute Beginner''s Guide
I''ve got about 40 linux/aix machines that I''d like assimilate into config management with puppet. I''ve been reading lots of docs, recipes and best practices. I''m wondering if there''s a guide somewhere that lays out the most efficient way to spread the use of puppet across a quantity of installed machines. I''d like to do first things first,

The wiki - directions and ideas
Hi all Luke and I have been discussing the wiki and how its future development might pan out. As a result I thought I''d canvas people for feedback. Currently the wiki''s layout and structure is fairly ad hoc and it''s a mix of wiki mark-up and REStructured Text (RST). We''d like to make it more "manual" like or at least move a significant portion of

RJava question(class not found with rJava's vm, though found with alternate vm)
Not sure if this the right place, but I can't seem to subscribe to the rJava mailing list. Sorry for the noise. I have a jar file in the CLASSPATH variable. On running .jinit and checking .jclassPath, i can see the jar file containing the class. Yet when trying to instantaite the class, i get a class not found error. Now If if, create my own vm (see below), and then run .jinit (which will

debug vs regular mode
Dear all, I had a R segmentation fault, and then invoked debug mode and ran step by step. When I reached "terms(Y~X1*X2*...*X16)", I would then have "segmentation" fault. However, if I just ran this under regular "R interactive" mode, it would be fine though taking long time. My questions are: 1. Is there a known limit of terms for a formula? 2. Why does the

RFC: This patch is not being submitted for ACK...
...just looking for some feedback on the direction I'm going. The code won't get all the way to the define stage since I'm in the middle of retrofitting it to use virtinst instead of a home spun node definition.

Switching to user mode from domU kernel
I''m having trouble switching into user mode with my domU kernel -- everytime I call __HYPERVISOR_iret, the hypervisor calls into my kernel via the registered callback handler. None of the bits in the event channel pending arrays are set. If I return via the iret call, the hypervisor immediately calls back into the handler. The user RIP never changes, so it is clearly not making forward

Winbind traffic not encrypted
A problem here getting winbind traffic to be encrypted using Kerberos. I have set up a test environment with a pair of servers (actually lxc containers): - samba server (ubuntu 16.04, stock samba 4.3.11) - client machine (ubuntu 16.04) joined with "net ads join" and winbind The client machine has the following in /etc/samba/smb.conf: ------- [global] #netbios name = client-ad

Cannot Sync Browser Lists
I run an IPsec/Freeswan VPN to connect 4 disparet windows LANS. I managed to RTFM until cross-subnet browsing worked (samba 2.0). Having upgraded to 2.2.3 It would seem that this feature is not working. BACKGROUND: originally all sources of information led me to understand that I would need a box running samba behind the firewall/IPsec box as I could not even ping a remote internal IP from the
