Reinstalling gecko after failed install
Hi, after I updated to wine 1.5 and launched winecfg, it tried to download and install new version of gecko. I use wine built as wine-wow so it tried to install both 32 and 64 versions. But it failed in one of them, control.exe crashed. I then tried to install gecko from msi packages using msiexec, but the problem is msiexec is not aware of wow configuration. It installs both versions to the same

Let Wine program pop up URL links in default browser, NOT IE
A few versions back, when one of my wine'd program needed to show an URL page, it (through Wine of course) sent that link to my default browser (Firefox) in Linux. It worked like this until version 1.1.35. Starting with 1.1.36, it pops up an IE window instead, which doesn't work on the URL and I don't want. Is there a way to reset its behavior so that the link is sent to my Firefox?

winetricks ie6/ie7 on 64bit system
Hi everybody, i'm running wine 1.2 on opensuse 11.3 64bit. Trying winetricks ie6 or winetricks ie7 result in an installer error dialog: "This installation does not support your system architecture (32/64bits)" and obviously closes. Other 32bit programs run perfectly (i.e. UltraVNCviewer) Is there any way to make wine act only as a 32bit windows on a 64bit machine? These are the

I am trying to install wine on an Asus EEEPC 901. Every thing goes as expected until I receive the following FATAL error. What is the problem and what can I do about it? If I then try winecfg I receive the error messages further down. winefile appears to behave correctly but iexplorer remains blank even after Gecko is installed. Notepad appears to work ok. Pre-downloaded Wine Gecko Installer?
Hi, I've been doing a lot of testing in isolated WINEPREFIX environments. So, I'm constantly creating new .wine folders and having to run winecfg to set them up. Well, each time I do this, I have to watch the Wine Gecko Installer progress bar, and sometimes it can be slow (like if my internet connection is bogged up). I wish I could keep a local copy that WINE would pull instead of

HTML rendering is currently disabled
I am using Ubuntu 8.04 and Wine 1.10. Before installing Wine I had installed Firefox 3.0 final release for Linux as instructed on the Ubuntu site. It said not to uninstalled the version of Firefox that came with Ubuntu because it may break Gecko and other things, so I didn't uninstall it. I've now installed Wine 1.10 and have installed one application, however, it gave me a prompt to

Wine Gecko 0.9.0
The announcement of Wine 1.1.12 mentions a new version of Wine Gecko, version 0.9.0. I have two questions: 1. What version of Gecko is this based on? Will this improve the way installed apps render pages? 2. How will this affect existing programs that have Wine Gecko 0.1.0 in their Wine environment? I have the old cab file in /usr/share/wine/gecko which gets installed whenever I wineboot. Will

html rendering and gecko on a winmx install wine 1.1.11
opensuse 11.2 64 bit I have downloaded and compiled/installed wine 1.1.11, so that I may use a windows program called WinMX 3.54b4 [32 bit] on my linux opensuse distro. I had been advised that Wine versions higher than this do not work well with WinMX. At the end of the compile it tells me that libgphoto2-32bit was not found and that cameras won't work. I check in Yast2 to see if it can

Re: winetricks ie6/ie7 on 64bit system
Although this question is very old, I thought I'd reply to the post since I had exactly the same issue with openSUSE 12.1 but have solved it. I couldn't find an answer anywhere else on the internet so this is to save other people spending time solving it like I just had to. In openSUSE, the bulk of the wine tools is contained in the 'wine' package and not the 'wine-32-bit'

Problem installing Gecko
Hello, I have just installed wine. In addition, I would like to install Gecko. So, following your instructions, I run the wine iexplore... command. Problem is that the Gecko installer keeps getting stuck at some point (My internet connection works fine at this time). Is there another way to install Gecko (maybe download it from somewhere)? My box runs RHEL5 Linux BTW. Cheers, D.
