Labels on a pyramide
I am using pyramid.plot() from the plotrix package. I have something like this ############################################ xy.pop<-dados$masfr xx.pop<-dados$femfr #agelabels<-dados$femlab xycol<-color.gradient(c(0,0,0.5,1),c(0,0,0.5,1),c(1,1,0.5,1),11) xxcol<-color.gradient(c(1,1,0.5,1),c(0.5,0.5,0.5,1),c(0.5,0.5,0.5,1),11) xylab<-dados$maslab xxlab<-dados$femlab

Confused with an error message related to "plotrix" library in the newer versions of R.
Dear R Users, Greetings! I am confused with an error message related to "plotrix" library in the newer versions of R. I used to run an R script without fail in the earlier versions (R 2.8.1) of R; but the same script is now throwing up an error message in the newer versions (Now I have R 2.13.0 & R 2.14.0). Herewith I am furnishing the same code for your perusal. It would

getting a Likert plot from a data frame
I'm creating a stacked bar chart using the likert command in the HH package. My data are in a data frame, with two numeric variables and a categorical variable, I can't get likert to use the column containing the categorical variable as a my y axis label. Here is a quick example: library(HH) #my data are:

Christmas tree graphs
Hello R users, I wish to draw a type of horizontal bar chart for two groups (males and females). The values for one group will start at the y-axis and point to the left, and the values for the other group will start at the y-axis and point to the right. If you're (un)lucky, the resulting graph can assume the shape of a Christmas tree. The data are left.side <- c(107092, 113053,

Transparency and pyramid.plot
Hi all Another question related to my earlier -- how might I get transparency to work with pyramid.plot in library(plotrix)? I can't figure it out, and the help page says it is there but doesn't give an example. Thanks!

how to draw a perspective pyramid
Dear list, I am trying to construct a perspective plot of a 2D triangle, or pyramid. I can easily do the one dimensional plot (code below), but I can't figure out how to do it in a perspective plot for two input variables. Does anyone have a simple solution? Thanks! Derek #code for a triangle u <- seq(-1,1,.001) tri <- (1-abs(u)) plot(tri~u,type="l",main="Second

Doubts about chi-square distribution
Dear list, For educational purposes I have been working with the script below. I have a observation: line 31 #CScal[i] = (amo^2) # IT IS WRONG, I KNOW, BUT IT MAKE R TO CRASHES! I'm thinking this is a possible bug in the R! And I have a couple of doubts: 1) line 51 #curve(dchisq(x, n-1), add = T, col = 'red' I think that it is correct, but the function no

Different LDAP filters for different protocols
Is it possible to query LDAP differently for different protocols? I am using dovecot for both pop3/imap and lmtp deliveries and there are different enable flags in ldap for them. I tried wrapping user_filter inside the protocols in the file dovecot-ldap.conf.ext as shown below but this didn't seem to work. protocol lmtp { user_filter =

Gnu sieve vs Dovecot sieve-filter - sieve-filter extremely slow at lda (writing emails to local mbox files)
I am wondering why sieve-filter is so slow compared to gnu sieve. I run mpop (like getmail) to download from a pop3 server to a local mbox file: ~/mail/email-incoming-unsorted This step is very fast. The next step, I throw the email-incoming-unsorted mbox file at a sieve processor, to sort the emails from that mbox, into other mboxes, according to the sieve rules file. Up until a couple days

Permutation or Bootstrap to obtain p-value for one sample
Hi, I am having trouble understanding how to approach a simulation: I have a sample of n=250 from a population of N=2,000 individuals, and I would like to use either permutation test or bootstrap to test whether this particular sample is significantly different from the values of any other random samples of the same population. I thought I needed to take random samples (but I am not sure how

Reproducable Infiniband panic
Hello, I see a reproducable panic when doing ibping and aborting it with ^C. My setup is two machines with Mellanox Infinihost III HCAs (one Linux one FreeBSD) connected back-to-back. Details below. I can upload 2 crash dumps, if this is useful. For some reason the port doesn't become ACTIVE, so no packets arrive, but that is probably unrelated. % uname -a FreeBSD cosel.inf.tu-dresden.de

Population pyramids
Hi, I hope somebody can help me with this issue: I am doing population pyramids using the barplot command, so in the left side I have male age structure and in the right side the female age structure. To plot the male age structure I put the data in negative numbers. Now, I want to change the sign in the bar plot in such way that I have no-sign numbers, both in left and right side of the graph. I

Custom mail directory with LDAP
For certain users, I have their mail boxes under /srv/mpop/<username>/Maildir. For the rest, I have their mail boxes under /srv/vmail/<username>/Maildir. mpop/ users are stored in LDAP, vmail/ users are local users so I discard the idea of set a fixed mail_location. In dovecot-ldap.conf I can't get the picture to set /srv/mpop/<username>/Maildir as mail. I'd tried

ggplot2 - help with intervals in geom plot
Hi; I have created a geom_tile plot which does roughly what I want but I have a small tweak I cannot sort out. I have a dataframe binL, binR, HCount, HProbCount where HCount and HProbCount have values ranging from 1-150. I plot binL and binR on the axes respectively and create two charts with the fill being represented by HCount and HProbCount respectively. The problem is that I want
