TCP flow latency graphs
Hello, we have one application which gets some data from our database but to print just one result it connects many times to the database over WAN. Of course there are some performance related problems with this type of work. I'd like to analyze (not necessary online) its tcp flow especially its latency (using port redirect on switch). Do you know any software (similar to tcpdump or so) which

Problem with two subnets
Hello A really annoying question. I'm managing a high school network with two WinXP subnets (192.168.1.X and 192.168.3.X). These subnets are linked by a SUSE 9.3 server with two network cards and a Samba server (version 3.0.12-5 SUSE) acting as PDC. The /etc/smb/smb.conf has next lines: wins support = yes hosts allow = 192.168.3. 192.168.1. 127.0.0.1 interfaces = 192.168.3.2/24 192.168.1.2/24

faster fsck ?
Hi, we have CentOS ftp server (vsftpd) which has a lot of users who are writing and reading a lot of small files from/into its own accounts (and other servers - using samba client - are reading these files and putting them into outside database). Since this server is under heavy load its availability is important. >From time to time we "crash" this server (don't ask why ...) but

looking for some advice to monitor network usage in office
Hi all, I've been asked by a college to setup a monitor to monitor a Windows network, but on internet usage. They want to have detailed usage, i.e. on a per IP / PC basis, and if possible to get stats for every protocol, and see over a period of time what goes on. My first though wat ntop, which does all of this, but it doesn't save the data in a DB, so if the server reboots the stats

Each site has a master samba server, acting as a domain master and wins server. Each site has a mixture of Windows (mostly 2000 professional) and linux workstations on each workgroup. I am trying to get all workgroups and all machines viewable in 'network

Cross Subnet Browsing.
hi, I need a hand setting up cross subnet browsing. Does anyone have some good news group postings, or a HOWTO? I have 2 samba servers, and 2 subnets. Each servers sits on it's own domain/workgroup. I think this should be much simpler than it is, and perhaps I am just missing one or two settings. Of the 2 servers: A, B I would like 'A' to do any serving or hold any

NetBIOS across subnets
Hi all, I would like two Samba servers to be able to talk to each other via NetBIOS. The problem is that they are on two different subnets. I have enabled broadcast ping on the routers, and the servers can each ping the other subnet with no trouble. The two relevant IPs are 192.168.1.101 and 192.168.2.3. There is a T1 between two Cisco routers, and IP routing is all set up. Currently
