Convert H:MM:SS PM /AM into 24 HR syntax
I've got an array of times in H:MM:SS PM/AM format, e.g. "5:27:15 PM" (no leading zero), and I would like to convert them over to 24 HR syntax, e.g. HH:MM:SS.
If it matters, the times are from the Central Time zone.
Is there a command to convert the time to a 24HR format?
I tried the following:
ptime("5:27:15 PM", "%H:%M:%S")

predicted HR in coxph with psline
Hi all,
I have some questions about the predicted HR in coxph function including
psline covariate.
If just fitting covariate as linear form, by default, the reference value
for each of predictions type (linear predictor, risk and terms) is the mean
covariate within strata.
If the psline is specified for the covariate, what's the reference value
for the predictions?
I did some test code

connecting to non-responding hosts: 1 hr timeout (fwd)
Hello all,
If you try to make a TCP connection to a host, and the host is down,
timeouts can be as long as an hour. This is not specific to ssh, or OS.
Is this a scenario worth working around, e.g. with a timer when
connecting or the like?

Adjustment for multiple-comparison for log-rank test
DeaR experts,
I was asked for a log-rank pairwise survival comparison. I've a straightforward way
to do this using the SAS system:

What I've found in R is shown below, but it's not a logrank test,
I suppose. (The documentation

[PATCH] Password expiry merge (AIX parts)
Hi All.
Attached is a patch introduces password expiry handling for AIX (other
platforms to follow). It is more or less the same as the previous patch
but has been updated to reflect recent changes to auth-passwd.c
I'm wondering if the AIX parts of auth.c should be moved to port-aix.c
and if the generic password change functions (currently at the end of
auth-passwd.c) belong in a separate

question in using nlme and lme4 for unbalanced data
Hello:
I have an two factorial random block design. It's a ecology
experiment. My two factors are, guild removal and enfa removal. Both
are two levels, 0 (no removal), 1 (removal). I have 5 blocks. But
within each block, it's unbalanced at plot level because I have 5
plots instead of 4 in each block. Within each block, I have 1 plot
with only guild removal, 1 plot with only enfa removal,
