creating function bodies using body()
I'm having trouble figuring out how to create a function using "body<-"
(). The help file for body() says that the argument should be a list of
R expressions. However if I try that I get an error:

Two things here
- possibly irrelevant, but I'd avoid building in the source directory. (mkdir ../BUILD ; cd ../BUILD; ../R/configure)
- don't turn on mantainer mode. You are not a maintainer, and if you want to play at being one, I think you

Correspondence and detrended correspondence analysis
Hi,
I hope someone knows the answer to this or has a real good reference about it (I am using Legendre & Legendre, Numerical Ecology, 1998).... My data is a data.frame with locations as rows and vegetation assemblages / species as columns. I've done a PCA, a correspondance analysis (CA) using ca in ca package and a detrended correspondance analysis (DCA) using decorana from vegan package.

Preserving lists in a function
Dear R users,
A co-worker and I are writing a function to facilitate graph plotting in R. The function makes use of a lot of lists in its defaults.
However, we discovered that R does not necessarily preserve the defaults if we were to input them in the form of list() when initializing the function. For example, if you feed the function codes below into R:
myfunction=function(
list1=list

already added to its db, specially compared to running

cross validation function translated from stata
Hi, everyone:
I ask for help about translating a stata program into R.
The program perform cross validation as it stated.
#1. Randomly divide the data set into 10 sets of equal size, ensuring equal
numbers of events in each set
#2. Fit the model leaving out the 1st set
#3. Apply the fitted model in (2) to the 1st set to obtain the predicted
probability of a prostate cancer diagnosis.
#4. Repeat

how to plot chi-square distribution in the graph
if i want to plot the chi-square distribution with a different degree of
freedom how can i plot it in the graph?Sometimes i plot the histogram and
cut it in a lot of piece. It's distribution like a chi-square.So i want to
plot the chi-square with a different degree of freedom to compare it .

Cross-tabulation of data from database
I am quite new to R, so please bear over with me if I have problems with the
R terminology.
I want to (try to) use R for some analyses within vegetation ecology, using
the vegan package. I have my data in a postgresql database, and I manage to
get them into R as a dataframe with columns for respectively: Name of the
analysed m2, Name of the species, coverage of species in the square in %. I

Multivariate kernel density estimation
I would like to estimate a 95% highest density area for a multivariate
parameter space (In the context of anova). Unfortunately I have only
experience with univariate kernel density estimation, which is remarkebly
easier :)
Using Gibbs, i have sampled from a posterior distirbution of an Anova model
with k means (mu) and 1 common residual variance (s2). The means are
independent of eachother, but

help with randomisation test...
Dear R-people,
I hope asking this is not too cheeky, but I do have a R Problem. I hope
that some of you like to play around with R and can help me.
Its like this. I have several plant species (A,B,C) and 10 replicates
per species. 5 plants per species are damaged, 5 not. I let a
caterpillar feed on each plant and measured the growth of the
caterpillars on control plants (CR) and on damaged

ordination in vegan
Hi all,
I have site data with plant species cover and am looking for trends. I'm
kind of new to this, but have done lots of reading and can't find an answer.
I tried decorana (I know it's been replaced by ca.) and see a trend, but I'm
not sure what it means. Is there a way to get the loadings/eigenvectors of
the axes (like in PCA)? Is there a way to do this with rda() too? How

I *need* to user rpcclient to install drivers on server ?
I have already copied drivers to $print/W32X86 directory. I tried
using rpcclient with adddriver command. But it gave following errors.

Show name of dataset in graph

I?ve written a script to run several multivariate statistical analysis
automatically.
As one result a biplot and screeplot is produced.
Now I?d like to display the name of the inputdatset as part of the title of
these graphics and I do not want to enter it each time I run the script.
How can I extract the name of a dataset?

Total inertia in package Vegan?
Dear all at the R-project help list.
I have run into a problem when it comes to getting values for "total inertia" and "R-squared" for my DCA using "decorana" in the package "vegan". I have tried the "goodness" function, but the reply indicates that it does not work with "decorana" class objects. In Canoco one gets the Total inertia in
