Switching to 16 bit colour ...
"bit of trouble" - good pun!
But I do hope it gets solved. Can you make a bash file (oh no - a pun of my own!) to automate any of those annoyances? Would putting the game "in its own WINE" help at all?
Cheers,
Jake

Hi,
I need some help getting the Frontend to work - MathKernel.exe is
working but when I try wine Mathematica.exe I get a lot of error
messages - I'm using Mathematica Version 4.0 and wine20010824. At the
end of the post there is the complete message I get from wine.
Thanx a lot CFU

Convert Mathematica code into R
Dear all,
I have a reasonably short piece of code written in Mathematica 5.2 which I
would like to convert to R. The problem is that I'm not familiar with
Mathematica. I would, however, also be OK with some interface that allows me
to run Mathematica from within R and use the output of the Mathematica for
further analysis within R. Any advice on how to conveniently convert the
code or on how

Doing Mathematica Quantile[] function in R
Hi all,
I am an R newbie trying to do some calculations I do in Mathematica in
R on a GNU/Linux system.
The main thing I am interested in doing is taking a 0.999 quantile on
a data set in a file who's data is normally distributed, say foo.csv.
e.g in Mathematica if I have something like this :
a=Import["foo.csv"]
b=Transpose[a][[1]]
Quantile[b,0.999]
In R I can load all the data

Mathematica and R
What are some effective ways to leverage the strengths of R and
Mathematica for the analysis of a single data set?
More specifically, are there any functions that can assist with any of
the following?
1. Calling an R function from Mathematica.
2. Calling a Mathematica function from R.
3. Using XML or another reliable data format to pass vectors, matrices,
and/or lists from one environment to

The old question: R vs MATLAB vs Mathematica vs ...
Hi,
This question seems to be old, however I am asking it from a different point
of view.
R introduces itself as a 'statistical' language and environment. There are
many discussions about comparing R to MATLAB or mathematica (or other
similar software). It seems to me that these other software have a broader
range of applications. For example, in Mathematica one can solve a partial

Mathematica now working with Nvidia GPUs --> any plan for R?
Dear All,
I just read an announcement saying that Mathematica is launching a
version working with Nvidia GPUs. It is claimed that it'd make it
~10-100x faster!
http://www.physorg.com/news146247669.html
I was wondering if you are aware of any development going into this
direction with R?
Thanks for sharing your thoughts,
Best wishes,

Is there a difference ...?
Doh123, how is running a program off an NTFS partition asking for trouble? Ntfsprogs seems to handle it just fine. I know that NTFS doesn't let you mark a file as executable, and that the filesystem is susceptible to fragmentation, but you should just be able to tell it to run rather than display and be good. It shouldn't cause destruction. I think there might even be an NTFS defrag tool

Wine is a program that enables users to run Windows programs on
non-Windows operating systems, including Linux, and Mac OSX. Why would
you want to install it on XP?

Ubuntu 8.10 - Irfanview - no longer able to install or use
I'm not sure if it's related or different, but I've found that the
latest version of Irfanview (I think that's 4.23) will install, but will
not run properly on wine in OSX. I had to move back to Irfanview 4.10
which still works fine on my system. I'm running OSX Tiger and Wine
ver. wine-0.9.53. I didn't want to fuss with why 4.23 won't work since
it wasn't

Full guide: How to Crack DRM Video
Why isn't it possible to simply unregister users who send spam like
this? If it's not a bot and is a registered user, shouldn't there be
some consequence to posting spam? Recognizing that the idiot could
re-register with another name and manually post more of this again, it
seems like "we" should be making it more difficult for him/her to
continually pollute the list.
