dsync mbox->mdbox: Unexpectedly lost From-line and other issues from a big conversion.
Hi, I'm trying to convert a 33GB mail store from mbox to compressed mdbox (largest mbox is 2.7GB). The source store is live, e.g. there are mails delivered into it and mails are being read. Actually it is my own mail. :) Although my test runs were very successful I have run into trouble with the first run on the whole store. After fighting a bit around with errors like Error: Trying

dsync migration questions
We are currently in the process of replacing one of our customer mail systems with a dovecot solution. However, one of the sticking points right now is how to get the old mail to the new system. On the dovecot side, we are using mdbox storage. On the old system we are using qpopper/mbox mailboxes in the following setup. All user inboxes are in /mnt/mail/mail_spool. Only select, privileged,

dsync-local(user): Error: proxy client timed out
Hello, I have an intermittent but frequent problem using dsync backup. The command outputs: dsync-local(user): Error: proxy client timed out Then dies with exit code 75. Any subsequent attempts to re-run the backup invariably fail like this: dsync-local(user): Warning: Destination mailbox INBOX has been modified, need to recreate it before we can continue syncing dsync-local(user): Error:

how-to use dsync to do a 2 ways replication ?
Hi, I want to set-up two dovecot imap servers, with active-active replicated maildirs. The goal is to have a hosted public server on Internet, and a private server on my LAN to speed-up local connections. So I compiled dovecot 2.0 beta 1 in order to use dsync utility... Actually my config is pretty simple as I just want to setup a proof of concept before going ahead in this way : (Both servers

dsync and pop3 migration plugin fails for large inbox due to idle timeout
Timo, There is a problem with the dsync POP3 migration plugin when syncing a large INBOX. What happens is dsync establishes a connection to the POP3 server at the beginning of the sync, but then it sits there idle until it's used to sync the UIDLs. On a very large inbox with many thousands of messages it will be idle for longer than a POP3 server's idle timeout setting. When the UIDL

syncing mailboxes with dsync after switchover
Gents, I'm relocating mailboxes to a new server. Before switching over to a new server I ran syncing a few times without any issues first I sync files with rsync from the old server to have a local copy, then I sync mailboxes with dsync /usr/bin/doveadm -Dv sync -u $MBOX -R "sdbox:/srv/vmail/temp/srv/srv.bgoperator.ru/${MBOX}:DIRNAME=DbOx-mAiLs" After switching over smtp

dsync problems
When a user renames their username, I am using dsync to copy their mail over to the new username's mail location[0]. Some of the dsyncs are failing with errors that I dont know how to work with, for example: dsync(<username>): Error: Trying to open a non-listed mailbox with guid=41fcd40303c8a64e432300007ef44c7a dsync(<username>): Error: msg iteration failed: Couldn't open

problems running dsync
First I had to do "chmod a+rw /var/run/dovecot/auth-userdb" to avoid permission problems. I assume this isnt how I should do it right? Next I get: dsync -u joakim mirror 'ssh exodia dsync -u joakim' Enter passphrase for key '/home/joakim/.ssh/id_dsa': dsync-local(joakim): Error: Log synchronization error at seq=186,offset=29436 for /home/joakim/Maildir/dovecot.index:

dsync error: Error: Can't delete mailbox INBOX: INBOX can't be deleted.
Hello, I'm aware of these two threads http://www.dovecot.org/pipermail/dovecot/2012-March/thread.html#134311 http://dovecot.org/pipermail/dovecot/2012-June/thread.html#136488 but unfortunately I wasn't successful with my dsync mailbox migration attempt despite the information I could find there. I'm using iRedMail setup for the dovecot server. I made sure that the dovecot mailbox

Dovecot dsync mail replication issues
Hi, I'm trying to set up some dsync based replication between two hosts on my network. The current topology is a single server running Postfix with a single dovecot installation with a Maildir per user (only 4 users including myself). No NFS, just local system users on ext4. I am only using system users, ie no virtual users. I am using dovecot deliver to deliver mails into the

dsync issues due to Prefix difference?
Hi everyone, I'm hoping I am just missing something obvious - but I cannot seem to get a one-way migration dsync working between two Dovecot servers because the Prefix configuration is different. I am doing a migration from our old Dovecot servers to some new cPanel based ones. Source: 2.2.15 Dest: 2.2.21 Here is the debug output for the sync: doveadm(root): Debug: Loading modules from

dsync deleting too many emails (sdbox)
I'm using dsync to synchronize emails on a laptop where wifi connectivity sometimes fails in the middle of a sync. I have a shell script that runs dsync, and here is one line of it including the output of dsync: + dsync -f -m realmail mirror /home/paulproteus/projects/ssh-attach/run ssh rose.makesad.us dsync dsync-local(paulproteus): Error: dbox

Trouble using reverse dsync backup (log in successful but almost nothing happens)
I am migrating an old dovecot 2.2.30 (macOS High SIerra, macO S Server) to a new server with dovecot 2.3.7 (macOS Mojave, macports). To get the data over, I?m trying to do a reverse backup with doveadm between an old and a new mail server, but failing to do so. I?m trying (from the new server, the old server is 192.168.2.67): doveadm -Dv \ -o imapc_host=192.168.2.67 \ -o imapc_user=gerben \

Migrating to mdbox
Hi all, I think it would be a good idea for me to move from mbox to mdbox, as I have 57,000 messages in my inbox, and clients hang for a minute whenever they request a CHECK, or Dovecot feels the need to run one itself. Looking at past threads: http://www.mail-archive.com/dovecot at dovecot.org/msg35212.html http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.mail.imap.dovecot/53936 it seems that the safest way

Migrating with dsync and INBOX.INBOX namespace issue
I'm working on migrating IMAP users from Mirapoint Message Servers to Dovecot servers. The Mirapoint IMAP server uses INBOX as a namespace for private mailboxes. I created the same namespace in Dovecot, but when I migrate mailboxes dsync seems to ignore/miss the namespace on Mirapoint and I end up with all mailboxes under a INBOX.INBOX hierarchy. Mirapoint Source Server

Issue with mailbox conversion using dsync in v2.2.32 (maildir <-> mdbox)
Hi all, I've run into an issue with in-place mailbox format conversions between mdbox and maildir and wondered if someone could assist. When using dsync to convert a mailbox, the conversion loses a mailbox GUID and produces a warning. This behavior seems to have been introduced between version 2.2.31 and 2.2.32. See below for the full debug output from both versions followed by the dovecot

2.1.1: doveadm backup errors
Hello Timo, I'm experimenting with 'doveadm backup' on 2.1.1 (latest hg, full dovecot -n output attached) and haven't managed to get it working. This is what I have done: 1. Create the directory /tmp/backup which is empty 2. Run doveadm -v backup -u testuser at ubuntu-test.localdomain mdbox:/tmp/backup/ Then I see the following errors: doveadm -v backup -u testuser at

dsync replication errors
Hi I'm trying to build a cluster of two servers with dsync replication (based on http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Replication). My test setup works fine for very simple tests, I can log in to both servers, copy a message to one of the servers and it successfully apperars in the other account. But, if I try to copy a large amount of messages at once to one of the accounts, my maillogs get flodded with

dsync backup errors with maildir -> mdbox
Hi, In preparation for a migration from maildir to mdbox, I am using dsync backup to do initial mailbox copies (at this point I do not want to risk any changes to the maildir). The initial run of dsync runs fine, but a second run to migrate any changes since the first run produces errors for many users. Here is an example of the type of error produced: > # dsync -u user backup mdbox:~/mdbox
