PXELINUX hanging when booting floppy images
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
I am trying to create a PXE setup with floppy images for all needed
utilities - for example, BIOS flash for various motherboards, disk
diagnostic tools, memtest86+, etc.
I've gotten memtest86+ to work (using the .bin), and some of the disk
images work - however, some disk images will not boot. All of the images
were pulled from working, bootable

Dedicated Servers
Hi,
A little bit off topic here, but I was wondering if anybody knows about
a good dedicate server provider, that offers CentOS (but ofcourse) as a
os choice, and that is very reliable.
I am using SuperbServer, but as of this moment 2007/03/19 1406
America/NewYork time, my server is down do to a power outage at one of
their facilities in VA. This is the second outage in less that 5 months.

Rackspace, Engine Yard, Heroku, etc. - Which do you recommend?
Hello.
We are looking for a new provider to host our Rails site -- we have
outgrown our current provider (for the past 4 years) since our business
is beginning to take off in a big way this year.
Which provider (e.g. Rackspace, Engine Yard, Heroku, Serverbeach, etc.)
would you recommend to run a highly scalable site?
FYI, we currently have over 150,000 users that will likely grow to a
million

Dedicated Host Recommendations?
I currently have a dedicated server at ev1servers, but
it''s getting rather antiquated (Redhat 9) and am
looking to upgrade. I''m thinking about serverbeach.com
- one of their CentOS servers. Anybody have any
recommendations for dedicated servers on which to run
Rails? Hopefully less than $200/month.
Thanks!

Newest CentOS sponsor
All,
I would like to take the time to announce our newest CentOS dedicated
server donor, ServerBeach.
So far, the ServerBeach network has been extremely fast and I especially
like their RapidRescue and RapidReboot services.
If you are in the market for a dedicated server, I have no problem
recommending ServerBeach.

Thanks for supporting CentOS :)

[OT] Godaddy hell...
Can I get some recommendations:
We are looking for a hosting provider (other than godaddy) with
1: SLA
2: SSH access
3: subversion/rsync or the ability to install binaries / compile source.
Would like them to include http/https and email.
Any suggestions?

Small Business support for *nix systems in Spain
Hello,
This message just came across on another mailing list I am on. The
little dig on Unix as being old and Windows being new got me annoyed so
I wanted to reply, but with some real contacts that he asks for at the end.
I figured there might be some folks who could help him out. Feel free to
reply on list or to me, and I will forward on your contact info.

madwifi on Centos 5.2, kernel 2.6.18-92.1.6.el5
Hello,
I just installed Centos 5.2 on my wife's IBM thinkpad T41 with Atheros
wireless.
It looks like I need to install madwifi to get the wireless to work. Our
home wireless network uses WPA2
I found the EL5 rpms at atrpms, but there is no madwifi-kmdl rpms for
kernel 2.6.18-92.1.6.el5.
So, to get the wireless working on my home network, what's the shortest
path from here? Install

Marvell Yukon 8056?
Greetings list-
I''ve got a server ''in the mail'' and I see now on the specsheet that it has Marvell Yukon 8056 NICs onboard. Since I cannot seem to find a HCL for Centos 5 or RHEL5 to help verify, I''d like to know if it works ''out of the box'' on CentOS 5.x or is there additional work to make it function (properly)?
My searching has revealed

Trouble Donating on centos.org
Hello,
I tried making a donation via the centos.org website but was blocked by
PayPal. I tried today and a few weeks ago.
The error I got in both instances was:
"The card you entered cannot be used for this payment. Please enter a
different credit or debit card number."
This strikes me as a strange response. It didn't say the card was
declined; it said it "cannot be

Lost my madwifi setup
I rebuilt my notebook that has the atheros card in it, and forgot to
save all of my setup to get it working.
I am using dkms and the madwifi rpms from rpmforge.
My modprobe.conf has a line:
alias wifi0 ath_pci
I can ifconfig wifi0 up
But the command:
/usr/sbin/wpa_supplicant wpa_supplicant -dd -D madwifi -i wifi0 -c
/etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf
fails.
Now some of my old

virt-install HVM with url and kickstart?
I have a kickstart file created that works great for installing CentOS on
PVM''s and now I want to use it for HVM''s as well. The problem is that when I
attempt to run the install, it seems to ignore the kickstart and starts
prompting me for all the things I already have specified in the kickstart.
Any idea what I could be doing wrong? Here is the command im using to get

Strange memory issue
Like most, I have a test and a production env. Both are CentOS 5, Ruby
1.8.6, Rails 2.0.2, MySQL 5, and Apache. Both were setup using the
same procedure. Except for the hardware (test: Intel, prod: AMD) and
memory (test: 512M, prod: 1G), both systems are essentially the same
right down to the Rails env. Unfortunately, memory usage is very
different for each.
The test system has 2 mongrel

the problem of buying and selling
I own a lot to the folks on r-help list, especially arun who answered every
of my question and was never wrong. I am disinclined to once again ask this
question, since it is more arithmatic than technical. But, having worked 2
days on it, I realized my brain is just not juicy enough....
Here is the problem.

Binary optimization problem in R
Dear all,
I would like to solve a problem similar to a multiple knapsack problem and
am looking for a function in R that can help me.
Specifically, my situation is as follows: I have a list of n items which I
would like to allocate to m groups with fixed size. Each item has a certain
profit value and this profit depends on the type of group the item is in. My
problem is to allocate the items
