Wine Executes Locally, But Not With Absolute Path
I have an uninstalled portable Windows .exe. When I type the absolute path, it doesn't work: > wine /home/ubuntu/appDir/myApp.exe but, if I cd to the application directory and execute it locally, it works: Code: cd /home/ubuntu/appDir/ wine myApp.exe I'm trying to include it in my Docky dock via a .desktop shortcut I've made in /usr/share/applications/. I don't mind

Persistent desktop icons ?
Hi, Is it possible to configure persistent desktop icons, e. g. shortcuts that users can't delete ? On most of my client desktops, I have some home-made shortcuts, like here for example : http://www.microlinux.fr/configurations.html The shortcut on the lower left corner of the screen launches the public library management system. Most of the users are quite computer-illiterate, and more

Help creating a shortcut in wine
Can anyone help me with how to create a windows shortcut in wine? I want to create windows shortcuts on a Linux box that windows clients can then access. I'm trying to use wine to allow me to create the shortcut on the Linux box. I'm using the wine-0.9.31 version of wine on Fedora Core 5. I've tried two approaches, both fail. I've tried using an autohotkey script. This script runs

trouble connecting to Panduit VGA adapter
I want to connect to an InFocus projector that sits behind a Panduit VGA adapter. I use a Thinkpad P51 with a mini display-port to VGA converter. The laptop runs Manjaro and has the video-hybrid-intel-nouveau-prime installed and it works with other monitors. For some reason it does not detect the projector that is connected through the Panduit. The keyboard shortcut to switch monitor configuration

fullscreen uses panning, and xrandr has cursor moving
I'm having a problem with games running in wine fullscreen with nvidia proprietary driver 185.18 under Fedora 11 64-bit. My desktop resolution is 1920x1200, and when I run a game with 1280x960 fullscreen setup (like Halo for example), it changes resolution to 1280x960 and runs fullscreen as expected, but when I move the mouse toward the edge rapidly, it pans the game screen away as if

Wine asks to set "HardwareAcceleration" = "Emulation" and it is already set.
Hello, I wonder if somebody has an idea what could be a reason behind this error message. I am running wine version installed as rpm for Fedora Core: wine-20041201-1fc3winehq. This actually happens for two games, one of them - fallout. I am able to run some windows apps with sound (flash player). Fallout displays initial screen and then crashes with this error message (apparently when it

Mac OS X, X11, resolution problem
I'm trying to run a game in full screen mode that cannot change my resolution to 640x480... the error message is err:x11settings:X11DRV_ChangeDisplaySettingsEx No matching mode found 640x480x32 @0! (NoRes) how would I go about doing something to add this available resolution so it can auto switch? I know its possible as Crossover can do it fine... just not when i use standard Wine.

Nouveau doesn't use the maximal resolution of my screen and GPU
Hi everybody, I'm using Lubuntu 14.04 on an old desktop PC with a NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS and a screen of 19 inches. The maximal resolution of my screen with Nvidia drivers is 1280x1024. (In particular, I use the Nvidia 331.89 driver) With Nouveau driver, the maximal resolution falls to 1024x768. Is there a solution for increasing the maximum resolution with Nouveau ? Best regards,

Wine, Windowmaker and the workspace-shortcut
Hi all, I am using wine from SuSe 7.3 Pro on Windomaker to run my Lotus Notes under Linux. My Question: How can I still use my windowmaker-shortcuts to switch to the next workspace (Ctrl-Alt-Right/Left) while running Wine .... Wine does not give me the possibility while running the windows application (Lotus Notes) to accept this shortcut for Windowmaker ... is there a chance to change or

Keyboard focus in 'some' wine apps (games)
Hi, I've noticed, now that I'm using twinview, that when I click any other window outside of the Wine desktop (Civ4 or WCIII normally), I can click back to the Wine desktop but can no longer use any of the keyboard shortcuts. Things work fine before actually clicking outside the wine window (for example, on my Pidgin chat window). This happens whether the app is run in windowed mode or

Playing around with the xrandr

Screen Resolution within the "Configure Wine" window
I had to reconfigure the wine window size in order to run an app. Having changed it, the window size was fine but the letter sizes are huge. When I try to reconfigure it i cannot get to the Graphics lower part of the page in order to put things right. Is there a way to do this other than with the mouse? I.e, with some keyboard shortcuts? Bear.

Trouble with WINE
Hello folks, I have the most recent version of WINE (20010305), and have been trying to run it with no luck until now. I have tried some very simple programs like notepad and solitaire, and both don't seem to work: all I get is a sh*itload (a REAL sh*itload) of font-related fixme's. Meanwhile, the system's load average increases, reaching a point where even the X server goes down

Wine shortcuts not doing anything?
Alright, I installed LoMSE today after wiping all of Wine's files (~/.wine, ~/.thumbnails, etc) and it created the menu again, but the shortcut does nothing. Wine doesn't even attempt to load. What gives? The shortcut command is pasted below. Code: env WINEPREFIX="/home/sephiroth/.wine" wine "C:\Games\Sierra\LOMSE\LomSE.exe" /cd=D:\ If I go into the hidden Wine

Setting Resolution Modes in xorg.conf
I asked on the Gentoo forums, and surprisingly haven't gotten an answer. When I run xrandr, I get this output: Code: Screen 0: minimum 2960 x 1050, current 2960 x 1050, maximum 2960 x 1050 default connected 2960x1050+0+0 0mm x 0mm 2960x1050 50.0* I'm using TwinView with a 1680x1050 monitor and a 1280x1024 monitor. And I want to set up some different modes in xrandr. When
