Cannot use negative argument in function
Hi, today i wrote a function in R of the type: index.refraction <- function(Temp,Press, RH, CO2) When i try to plug a negative number in Temp, i got this type of error: " n <- index.refraction(Temp= -40,100,80,CO2) Messages d'avis : 1: In Ops.ordered(left, right) : '-' is not meaningful for ordered factors 2: In Ops.factor(left, right) : - not meaningful for factors 3:

Problem with Rsync or Users will be Users?
I'm using CWRSync 2.6.9 protocol 29 on a Windows 2003 Standard R2 server. I'm trying to copy files onto a local usb harddrive. Both filesystems are NTFS. Rsync is failing to copy some files due to the file name length. I kind of assumed that Rsync could handle the same file name length that Windows users are allowed to enter. :-) Is there *anything* I can do with Rsync to allow these

mathematica -> r (gamma function + integration)
Dear R-list, I try to transform a mathematica script to R. #######relevant part of the Mathematica script (* p_sv *) dd = NN (DsD - DD^2); lownum = NN (L-DD)^2; upnum = NN (H-DD)^2; low = lownum/(2s^2); up = upnum/(2s^2); psv = NIntegrate[1/(s^NN) Exp[-dd/(2s^2)] (Gamma[1/2,0,up] + Gamma[1/2,0,low]),{s,sL,sH}, MinRecursion->3]; PSV = psv/Sqrt[2NN]; Print["------------- Results

integration problem with gamma function
Dear R-list members, I have a problem with translating a mathematica script into R. The whole script is at the end of the email (with initial values for easy reproduction) and can be pasted directly into R. The problematic part (which is included below of course) is <--- Original Mathematica ---> (* p_svbar *) UiA = Ni (Dsi - 2Di A + A^2)/2; UiiA = Nii (Dsii - 2Dii A + A^2)/2; psvbar =

apache log backups
I'm watching my backup via rsync, throttled to a very low speed. Looks like downloading apache logs is taking the longest time (when I'm rsyncing over an old copy of the same data) because it's not noticing that, for example, www.chaosreigns.com-access.log.196.gz on the origin is the same file as www.chaosreigns.com-access.log.186.gz on the destination, so *everything* is getting

Separating parts of a column of data in R
Hi there, I am fairly new to R and I have been trying to figure out how to separate a column of substrate data that I have into separate parts using R. An example of my data looks like this is: gmtTime Classification ClassValue Species Count 1449 Sand 30 1449 Mud 70 Brittle Star 1 1449 Mud 70

more transitional joys
well, now that I have moved to dovecot, I'm not getting any spam... in fact, I'm not getting e-mail at all. default_mail_env =mbox:~/IMap2/:INBOX=/var/spool/mail/%u when I first tried to access my inbox, I was told I had permission problems: Aug 14 17:47:22 harvee imap(esj): open(/var/spool/mail/esj.lock) failed: Permission denied Aug 14 17:47:22 harvee imap(esj): file_lock_dotlock()

joys of transition.
Red Hat 8.0 stock dovecot 99.10 for a variety of reasons, I decided to cut over to dovecot this morning. I extracted all of my mailboxes from mbx purgatory back to mbox purgatory, set up dovecot and proceed to get authentication failures. (am using simple password based authentication either direct or through pam) I turned authentication verbosity on and got: Aug 14 11:51:38 harvee dovecot:

The Joys of ADSI
Hey Everybody, You may remember be as the one that was generally running in circles trying to get ADSI phones to work? Well, five phones later, I've got a phone and a code that works to program it. I have been discouraged from just posting it to an e-mail forum, but I have been encouraged to get it embedded in the program. Is this possible? How should it be done? Next, after getting it

Aion f2p - freezes on certain objects
I just installed Gameforges's free 2 play version of Aion with: Code: winetricks d3dx9 vcrun2005sp1 vcrun2008 dotnet20 dotnet30 gdiplus the launcher doesn't work for me but that's alright, I simply run it with: Code: wine .wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Gameforge/AION\ Free-To-Play/bin32/aion.bin -ip:79.110.83.80 -port:2106 -lang:enu -cc:2 -noauthgg -noweb with the default

Problems fetching messages.
Hi, I have problems reading some mail with the latest version of dovecot. I use maildir etc but it all worked before... It seems like dovecot sends something that throws Evolution off the track since the actual information is sent, but in a broken form it seems. I also get some odd chars (this is raw tcp packet decoding): "??a-? "??c-?* FLAGS (\Answered \Flagged \Deleted \Seen

Nesting in Cox proportional hazards survivorship analysis
Hello, My advisor and I have been working on some survivorship analyses in R and we are hoping to get some feedback on a particular issue involving nesting. We are interested in patterns of food discovery by ant species. Our observations consist of time to discovery by an ant for three different food types, each of two different sizes. These data were collected at 6 plots located in each of

Missing connect indication on pri?

We have asterisk connected to both the pstn and our pbx via two E1 pri connections. We use overlap dialing to cope with different number lengths in Sweden. Incoming calls work perfectly. Outgoing calls seem to not get the repsonse it

Re: [Asterisk-Dev] Softphone for PocketPC or iPaq
I have tried sjphone - worked well, although I think my 3 year old IPAQ had a bit of a hard time keeping up with the pace as there was quite a delay in the speech. Probably says more about my ancient IPAQ than SJPhone. Re: Zaptel doesn't see remote hangup ?
Thanks Peter, Yes, indeed the problem seems to be exactly what you describe. It's overhere the same. If I dial a mobile number it disconnects immediately when I hangup the mobile. But for analog numbers it takes around 10 seconds or so... Well, at least now I know how to debug pri :-) Walter. PRI D-channel signalling error? "Ring reques ted onchannel 0/1 a lready in use on span 1. Hanging up owner."
Now that's quite interesting - yes, this is a two way span. I thought that the D-channel negotiation that happens before the B-channel is set up would have implicitly avoid the glare condition through signalling the intent-to-use to the resource to the remote end (a-la E&M wink start). So what seems to be happening in my case is my CPE is set for a 'Descending' b channel sequence
