Slow performance with many 3D games
Lots of 3D games such as Team Fortress 2, Audiosurf or Stalker have very low performance in comparison to running on the same computer on Windows. What can I do to improve it? What developers have still to implement to fully support 3D rendering?

AudioSurf - Runtime error
Hello,
Just trying to get Audiosurf to work under wine 1.3.8. I'm running 64-bit GNU/Linux with 32-bit wine (64-bit Wine Prefix). When I launch Audiosurf everything goes well and it loads up to the main screen. I choose my character, and then move onto the song selection. I head to "My Documents" (/home/user) and pick a .mp3 out of there. The the game heads to the loading screen,

Disks errors not shown by zpool?
Ok, this is not a OpenSolaris question, but it is a Solaris and ZFS
question.
I have a pool with three mirrored vdevs. I just got an error message
from FMD that read failed from one on the disks,(c1t6d0). All with
instructions on how to handle the problem and replace the devices, so
far everything is good. But the zpool still thinks everything is fine.
Shouldn''t zpool also show

Team Fortress 2 Bug Fix Undone by New Patch
Okay, so awhile back I had a problem with Steam. It wouldn't start and so I fixed that after installing a minimal version of winetricks (I removed a few things I knew I wouldn't need). Then Steam worked.
Unfortunately I then had a problem with Team Fortress 2. This time the game wouldn't load. So I read the AppDB for Team Fortress 2 again and it said to disable Steam Community

[LLVMdev] Fortress project calls it quits due to lack of a decent VM
One sort of questions why a company the size of Oracle, working with DARPA funding, wouldn't have the resources to design the virtual machine they required for the project... although reading the article they never do *quite* say that Fortress is being put down... just that the research group is winding down on it, the JVM target work isn't going to be completed, and the current

Grandstream message light button
I have finally set correctly the Message Wait Indicator feature on my
Grandstream (I was using the wrong context - I thought the documentation
referred to the {mailbox=210@Context} extension context not the
voicemail context).

[LLVMdev] Fortress project calls it quits due to lack of a decent VM
I thought this would be of interest to LLVM developers: The Fortress
project, which was an attempt to create a very advanced language with
implicit parallelism, parametric polymorphic types and many other cutting
edge language features, has announced that they are winding down the
project. What I found very interesting was that one of the reasons they
gave was the lack of a suitable execution

Driver bestfcom - Timing problem with Fortress LI1420
Hi,
my UPS is a Best Fortress LI1420 with the monitoring master running fedora 7.
I have to replace the manufacturer's software "Checkups II" because it's not
working with releases after fc4.
My choice is the nut package.
But it isn't just installing rpm's and configure the parameter files.
?
The first hurdle to take was realising the UPS doesn't send a prompt.

bestfortress driver establishes/loses/establishes communication and so on...
[As posted as Ubuntu Question #184284 on Launchpad]
Hi, I try to set up nut (2.4.3) on my Lucid (10.04.3 LTS) to make use of
my old but very trusty UPS (Best Power Fortress 660 LI).
Yes, this UPS is old (about 16 years), but with its third battery pack
last week it is as good as new. It runs perfectly well with Windows XP,
Vista and even Windows 7. But not so with Ubuntu and nut.

Team Fortress 2 gaminfo.txt
Hello, I'm trying to run Team Fortress 2 on Linux using Wine 1.0.
I tried starting the game from Steam, but it shows the loading TF2 window, then closes and never starts the game.
I know the game isn't supposed to run on Linux, but I have a question about gameinfo.txt.
I tried starting hl2.exe in:
/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/steam/steamapps\*user*\team fortress 2
folder, but it said I

Team Fortress and steam friends list
I haven't been able to find a way yet, but is it possible to somehow have steam run not in a virtual desktop or at least a seperate virtual desktop than team fortress 2? If I could alt tab or switch desktop spaces and be able to access steam from my taskbar so I can talk to my friends in the game (since in-game overlay doesn't work) Or join them using the steam friends options without

Best Fortress LI660VA-Question(s)
Hi,
I recently got a Best Fortress LI660VA which was until then used on an
AS/400 System. It's quite old and even with minimal Load only keeps the
Line for a few seconds -- however, two new (Panasonic) Batteries cost
less than half of what a new UPS will cost and so I decided to keep it.
However, I'd like to run some Monitoring SW for the UPS. No Problem, I
found NUT and was impressed by

WIne - HL2 and cursor
I'm having an issue with WINE and HL2 and games on steam. I am a new Linux user (sorry). I can't get HL2 or any games to go true fullscreen to cover my panels on the top and bottom and also in Audiosurf and HL2 and whatnot I can't get the cursor to register properly. It's always above where the actual cursor is on the screen. Is there a way to fix these 2 issues?
