Please may you help me setup VPS
I am new to Linux so I do not have any special preferences. Yes I have a root access and the VPS is un managed. I am newbie to the Linux world. I will have a new website or maybe 3. I've found that un managed costs vary a lot, as I've found various ways for settings ... some using Xen, others using OpenVZ, and other using Virtuozzo and I found that it all vary regarding Ram allocations

Firewall/router
I was using pfSense in a vm under esx but I want to move to Xen and prefer something that can run as a pv guest. Anyone got any reco's of what can run on top of CentOS to perform a similar role as pfSense (perform nat/pat and firewall etc between two interfaces)? Thanks for any ideas! jlc

Anyone with a working pfSense firewall configuration?
Other SIP clients behind the firewall (not using STUN, work). We have a SIP client using STUN and ICE behind a pfSense firewall. The firewall is behaving oddly. REGISTER packets work fine. But when the client tries to make a call, the first INVITE packet from the client pass through the firewall and makes it to the Asterisk server. The Asterisk server sends back a 401 client sends ACK,

looking for alternative to SME & Clark Connect
Hi all, I'm looking for a (preferably free) alternative to SME / Clark Connect. I basically need the following: - firewall - nat - VPN - bandwidth limiting / monitoring - email (SMTP / POP3 / IMAP) & groupware - file & printer sharing - RAID support - if possible fail-over / high availability support. I need to support about 15 - 30 (some part time) students, so I would like to keep

Do I need a dedicated firewall?
Hi All, So my electricity bill is through the roof and I need to pair down some equipment. I have a CentOS 6.5 Server (a few TB, 32gb RAM) running some simple web stuff and Zimbra. I have 5 static IP's from Comcast. I am considering giving this server a public IP and plugging it directly into my cable modem. This box can handle everything with room for me to do more. Doing this would allow

Networking problem on virtualized pfSense firewall
Hi. I've a strange problem with networking and a KVM virtualized pfsense firewall. My hw host is Ubuntu 12.04 fully updated, with two bridges br0 (LAN) and br1 (WAN). pfSense is a KVM guest with the two interfaces in virtio mode. When I run pfSense as fw, the host doesn't seem capable of doing tcp connections outside. I can ping any internal and exernal host, but when I try telnetting

Build a Firewall (Can I learn to do this...)
Hi All, I have a home business circuit and I am gearing up to host my business affairs in my place. I have Comcast and 13 static IP's. I have an extra PIII 1U, 2 9gb SCSI, 1gb RAMm dual NICS. So I am wanting to build a firewall to front end my traffic. Assign one of my statics to it and have Comcast statically route my traffic to this IP. Then when traffic comes have it decide if it

Linux router with CentOS
Hello everybody. I'm wondering here if is it possible to setup a CentOS machine as a router for two Internet connections in a LAN. This _router_ would work as the gateway for the workstations using DHCPD. The purpose of this is to optimize the broadband "joining" both connections, and given the case, do not lose the Internet access. ?is this possible? ?too much complicated?

Dedicated Firewall/Router
Hi All, I want to build a dedicated firewall/router as I am launching a NPO and I can host this in my garage. (Comcast offered me a 100 x 20 circuit for $99/mo with 5 statics) I used to run Untangle, but as of version 9, you are forced to use their build in protocol policies versus the firewalling I am used to (Deny All and then opening holes for specific IP's, etc). There are so many

Best Firewall Suggestions?
Hi, My customer has a outdated firewall that is also presenting a NAT nightmare for getting the Asterisk server reachable from the internet. What firewalls work good with VOIP? I really want to steer away from any ALG supported firewall. I just want a good firewall that works well with Asterisk. Thanks, David Wathen -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...

[OT] Corporate Firewall
Hey, The company I work for is in the market for a new firewall. Right now we're hosting all of our own stuff (on CentOS servers) behind an old checkpoint firewall. I think Checkpoint is overkill for our needs and very expensive, plus I don't like the "per-user" charges of some commercial solutions. What do you guys suggest that we upgrade to? Here are some of the

OpenVPN server and firewalld
How do I insert the iptables rule below using firewalld? I'm moving up from CentOS 6 to 7 on an office gateway and I'm trying to get OpenVPN working to allow home workers to access PCs at the office. I've got it all working but only by manually inserting an ACCEPT rule in the FORWARD iptables chain: iptables -I FORWARD 3 -i tun+ -j ACCEPT This rule was extracted from my iptables

(OT) Firewall Question
Hi List, I am not familiar with the commands of IPtables so I want use tools on top of it. What do you suggest. Can I make test of it inside CentOS on top of VMWare server with only one LAN inteface? I try to use Pfsense, I believe it has easy to understand GUI but it fails to install on my desktop machine to test, maybe due to hardware comaptibility. Kernel panic during boot even after disabling

Which router/firewall would you use for a virtual-PBX Asterisk installation?
Hi everyone. We've got a fairly large base of customers who use our Asterisk server for phone service in a virtual PBX kind of way, where the server is security hardened and exposed to the internet for them to connect to remotely with SIP and IAX. It's certainly not the sort of affair where we're running it as a PBX just within the building. As a result, we see network traffic
