mixing tcp/ip and ib/rdma in distributed replicated volume for disaster recovery.
Hi, we would like to build a gluster storage systems that combines our need for performance with our need for disaster recovery. I saw a couple of posts indicating that this is possible (http://gluster.org/pipermail/gluster-users/2010-February/003862.html) but am not 100% clear if that is possible Let's assume I have a total of 6 storage servers and bricks and want to spread them across 2

Samba and /etc/passwd
Hello all, I was wondering if anyone knew a way to configure samba so that it does not use /etc/passwd for a list of users, group id's,etc. I am currently setting up a server to authenticate against AD. I have that configured fine. The overall goal here is to provide a samba backup to our existing fileserverserver. Here is the problem: we need a way to sync the info in /etc/passwd

Gluster-users Digest, Vol 41, Issue 16
Hi Phil, we?d the same Problem, try to compile with debug options. Yes this sounds strange but it help?s when u are using SLES, the glusterd works ok and u can start to work with it. just put exportCFLAGS='-g3 -O0' between %build and %configure in the glusterfs spec file. But be warned don?t use it with important data especially when u are planing to use the replication feature,

timer service
hi everyone, I have this case where I need to check some records in the database of a specific data condition every 5 seconds and do some business logic if this scenario is true. Problem is there doesn''t seem to be any timer service in the rails framework. Anyone have a general idea of how to attack this problem? thanks, -dan -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

HVMAssist BIOS boot device problem
Hello, The xm config option boot="c" is intended to boot from the "first" harddrive; however, the enumeration of harddrives is independent of device enumeration (hda|hdb|hdc|hdd), leading to unreliable boot device selection. Example A: I am building a Windows HVM appliance which performs file-system level operations over mounted NTFS volumes - for example a file-system

HP Proliant DL360 G7
Hello, Has anyone out there been able to qualify the Proliant DL360 G7 for your Solaris/OI/Nexenta environments? Any pros/cons/gotchas (vs. previous generation HP servers) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! -Anh

Magic List: Thanks Shain Rufeel & Danny Nicholas.
Thanks.... Actually, I tried everything before... I even do a genzapconf -d. I really don't know what happened. After I posted to the list, I made another genzapconf -d and then genzapconf - l and the card just appeared. Don't know the exact reason, but... it's working (the card, I still need to migrate the asterisk from one machine to other)....

Samba Issue
We currently have Samba installed on a Solaris 8 server. It is serving several fileshares. Within the last couple of months we have had an issue with connecting to the share from the XP desktops. On the same share it will work fine for a while and then all of a sudden when you try to mount the share it will ask for an ID and password (it normally does not). If you try again a few seconds later

Adding larger bricks to an existing volume
I have a 10x2 distributed replica volume running gluster3.8. Each of my bricks is about 60TB in size. ( 6TB drives Raid 6 10+2 ) I am running of storage so I intend on adding servers with larger 8Tb drives. My new bricks will be 80TB in size. I will make sure the replica to the larger brick will match in size. Will gluster place more files on the larger bricks? Or will I have wasted space? In

OpenIndiana production-ready?
Hello list, What''s the current production-readiness of OI 151a? I''m evaluating Solaris 11 at the moment on HP server hardware + SAS JBODs. Also considering picking up a Thumper/Thor on the used market. For a ZFS storage server, is it a better idea to just stick w/ Oracle Solaris, or is OI also a good bet? How do the ZFS implementations differ between Solaris 11 and OI? Thanks

Hi, We are using samba2.2.6pre2 and still have the problem with the printer duplex/tray settings like in samba2.2.5 (although the duplex/tray options are configured on samba, they are not correctly set to w2k clients) Does anybody know why? AW: duplex settings [ was Re: parsing fix for spoolss & s amba-2.2.5]
Hi Jerry, It seems that the "samba-2.2.5-printing.patch" has only fixed the problem for PCL drivers. With PS drivers (Laserjet 4050 PS) are the duplex & tray settings still missing. Change time and stat on Gluster
Hello, Can someone please check a file or two on via there gluster mount and tell me stating a file changes the value of the 'Change time' field? I have one backend server that updates the 'change time' every time I run stat...and I have another backend server which does not change the value (when called from gluster). I am trying to determine which one is working correctly so I
