Wine, Mac, and MDAC
Hi all, I have been searching around for the past few days for a way to emulate a MySQL database access program called ES2 (http://www.veracross.com/resources/es2-setup.html) on the Mac. I have been in contact with the developer about components that the program needs, but the communication has been slow from them, so I have been exploring on my own. I believe I am close to cracking the egg, but

How to run 3D Studio 7
I used crossover to install 3DSMax 7 in ubuntu. Unlike other versions, this one is known to run with wine (and crossover). Even though the software indeed is starting and running, I'm facing trouble with directx and my ATI-graphics-card now: The viewports just don't refresh (see screenshot below). Changing to OpenGL causes ubuntu to freeze. Software-rendering doesn't work either. Are

I have a dependent variable with is very peaked and has heavy tails, something I haven't encountered before. (histogram: http://postimage.org/image/2sw9bn8pw/). Outlier removal techniques
Hello, I need to analyse a data matrix with dimensions of 30x100. Before analysing the data there is, however, a need to remove outliers from the data. I read quite a lot about outlier removal already and I think the most common technique for that seems to be Principal Component Analysis (PCA). However, I think that these technqiue is quite subjective. When is an outlier an outlier? I uploaded

Beginner Hurdles
Hey everyone, I just got Theora running on my Mac, and ran across several hurdles, that I was wondering if someone could help me with. I do a lot of tech support at work, and get the same questions over and over, so I tried skimming the archives but couldn't find the answers. Maybe these could go in a FAQ of some sort? These are fairly unavoidable issues that should probably be

[LLVMdev] Canonical way to visualize LLVM IR?
Hello, LLVM provides several ways to visual IR structure straight in its core - Function::viewCFG() to render control flow graph, then -view-* options to llc to render various stages of transforming to machine code. However, I wasn't able to find a way to render complete DAG visualization of normal IR - which besides CFG would also show dataflow (and other flows, if any). What people use to
