Direct rendering disabled - apparently common on 64bit
I'm running Debian Squeeze on an ASUS UL30VT with a GeForce G210M, using the 2.6.32-5-amd64 kernel. Obviously I'm on a 64bit system.
I've been trying to get World of Warcraft to run, but I just can't get it to start. I'm using the non-free nvidia driver and I followed the howto at http://wiki.debian.org/NvidiaGraphicsDrivers while installing it. According to glxinfo I do in

Wine unable to find DX9 / driver version?
I updated wine to latest git (wine-1.1.26-390-g31dab8f) and upgraded my nvidia drivers to 190.18. When I attempted to test some of the DX9 and 10 games I usually test, none of them seem to be able to recognize either my DX version or the drivers. I suspect that the drivers are the issue. Here is a relevant example from a test for Assassins Creed.

Help running Lords of the Realm 2 in AMD64
Hello all:
Probably it's me doing something badly, but I'm running Lords of the Realm 2
in my AMD64 Debian squeeze box and it sounds, but I don't get any image: just
a black screen or a black window.
Running wine in a Konsole shows this:
err:d3d_caps:WineD3D_CreateFakeGLContext Can't find a suitable iPixelFormat.
err:d3d:InitAdapters Failed to get a gl context for default

Hard-Locks and graphics card driver issues
Hello,
This is my first post on this list.
I am experiencing very often hard-locks while using different wine
versions (from wine 0.9.58 until 1.0-rc3).
My OS is Fedora 9 x86_64 and I also compiled 1.0-rc3 how the wine wiki
told me to do.
I am also experiencing hard-locks just by using winetricks.
The hard-locks appear not immediately but sporadically.
But that's a kernel issue I guess,

Wine not detecting correctly graphic vendor
Recently i changed my old 6600GT with a less old HD4850, uninstalled the nvidia drivers and install the propietary catalyst last version. All run perfectly, glxinfo shows direct rendering yes and the corresponding bunch of extensions and glxgears rate clear high.
But when i try to run any 3D app through wine it fails with for example:
$ wine Oblivion.exe

Problem with World of Warcraft
I am having great trouble running World of Warcraft, after it has been installed.
I copied over all the CD/DVD contents for both WoW and WoW:TBC on to my HDD and installed it, then patched it with Wine without a hitch.
However, now when I go to run the game I get the following errors in the console:
Code:
mothermayi at mmi-desktop:~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/World of Warcraft$ wine WoW.exe

Oblivion on Mint 12 wine 1.2.3 no opengl support compiled in
Hello all,
I'm pretty much a newbie in linux, and I'm trying to play The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion on Linux Mint 12.
I installed wine-1.2.3 according to the readme file (I hope).
command:
Code:
wine ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Bethesda\ Softworks/Oblivion/OblivionLauncher.exe
gives:
Code:
err:wgl:opengl_error No OpenGL support compiled in.

akmod-nvidia update, lose openGL functionality
Sorry if this has been dealt with, but I couldn't find it in a search.
I updated Fedora to the new kernel build, and there are no current drivers for nvidia cards for that. That's fine, livna made a new neat thing called akmod-nvidia that appears to have built the drivers very nicely (quite pleased with that). All is happy and shiny from within Linux (compiz works and openGL games work

Wine and opengl error!!!
Hi all,
I'm having trouble running windows games from Fedora 9, 64 bit, using wine
rc3. I've tried Command & Conquer 3, Age Of Mythology and Jazz Jackrabbit 2.
All games fail. I mostly get an error saying that direct3d9 won't work
without opengl. However, I have opengl.
I've run glxgears and it runs fine. Following is the output:
8877 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1775.333 FPS

Your message is really hard to follow, since you posted in HTML. You
need the OpenGL development packages. On Ubuntu, that probably means

"err:wgl:opengl_error No OpenGL support compiled in."
I uninstalled the Synaptic, 1.0 version of Wine yesterday and compiled the latest Git source. I had some problems (http://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?t=3929), but I installed all the development packages that ./configure mentioned, including (I think) the necessary OpenGL library. I then compiled and installed without a hitch. However, Steam now starts up illegible and generally f*cked, and
