Samba4 not able to write to group writeable folder???
Hi... With samba4 I sometimes feel like a bloody beginner even I use samba since ages. Miracle of the day: Users connecting using samba4 cannot write to group writeable folders even they should be able to. I upgraded one 3.6 fileserver to 4.2.3. PDC is always a samba 4.2.3 instance. I am using samba4 in classic PDC mode for a couple of reasons. On my fileserver I have a folder called

Samba4: Setting up share/security permissions for shares on member server
Hello, I am running Samba 4.1.12/Sernet on Debian Wheezy 64bit and I am about to setup my member server. The DC was provisioned with rfc2307 and extended attributes. I have assigned to the domain group called "Domain Users" the GID=10000. My member server was prepared with ACL+user_xattr and winbind support. My /etc/nsswitch.conf is using "winbind" for passwd+group, and

Disallow Deletion from Trash Folder
Hello: I've been tasked with trying to find a way to keep users from ever "permanently" deleting emails. The users are running Thunderbird and are using the "Archive" option for when emails are deleted. However, they are still able to delete emails from the Archive folders... I'm wondering if there's any way that I can configure Dovecot to make sure that

Samba4 creating share and setting permissions without windows tools
Hello, I need a way to set permissions to share folder without to use RSAT, I've not found anything about that. The samba wiki said that --------------------- Change permissions on folders of a share Changes of permissions are done using the classic *nix tools 'chmod', 'chown' and 'chgrp'. Example: Code: # mkdir /srv/samba/Demo/Example/ # chown foobar:DemoGroup

sysvol permissions
At this point I have a DC2 joined to a DC1 that has all the FMSO roles. I have confirmed that 'samba-tool drs showrepl' on both DCs produces the expected results without error. I am now looking at sysvol replication. On FreeBSD the sysvol is located at /var/db/samba4/sysvol. Here is the problem. On DC1 I see this: [root at smb4-1 ~ (master)]# ll /var/db/samba4/sysvol total 1

UID/GID -> SID -> NAME mapping across multiple DCs
This isn't necessarily an issue (I don't think) but more so a curiosity. How are UIDs mapped to SIDs and then SIDs mapped to names in Samba4 across multiple DCs? I set up my DCs using Louis' how tos ( https://github.com/thctlo/samba4/tree/master/howtos). All of my DCs smb.confs have the line "idmap_ldp:use rfc2307 = yes" My policies folder under \sysvol\domainname\ has

I know the samba4/cups server is operationnal as i'm able to add new printers or drivers to it through MMC. I guess it's not a permission problem on the server as i perform the operation as

Hi, this is my first message here. I need help, the reason is in the title. The version running is SAMBA_4.0.0ALPHA18_DEVELOPERBUILD It was running just fine until I had (for some reason) had to transfer all the system (ubuntu 11.10 server) to another clean hard drive. I used "rsync -rltgoHDv /olddriveroot /newdriveroot" to copy the files, and installed grub on the new disk. Now the

I've just configured Samba4 on Ubuntu (4.0.0+dfsg1-1), and can't seem to get roaming profiles working (I followed the guide at https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_DC_HOWTO ) 1. Logons work just fine. 2. DNS is configured and working, running through SAMBA_INTERNAL 3. Clients can talk to the server and see/access shares at \\server.corp.domain.com 4. Clients are all Windows 8 and NTP

Samba4 and "inherit permissions ="
After a decent amount of online searches, I am a little bit lost on the subject of Samba4 in AD mode and ACL's. Could anybody help with the following please: 1. Is it correct that my default ACL's are being ignored (new files created don't follow the default ACL's permissions of the parent folder) because "inherit permissions = " is set to No by default in smb.conf?
