Metatrader Installation error
I am experiencing a problem with the installation of Metatrader4. The problem is that at the end of the installation I receive an error message: 'Error changing registry data'. The system then proceeds to carry out a roll back routine. I have previously managed to complete this on a Sony Laptop running Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic) with Wine 1.1.42. Wine has since been updated to 1.1.43 and

question about WINEPREFIX
I wanted to ask to the wine experts something about WINEPREFIX or the crossover bottles... how does the concept of "bottles" compares/differs with the concept of application virtualization (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Application_Virtualization) used by VMware's Thinstall (http://www.thinstall.com/products/virtualization_suite.php) (aside for the .exe container*) and

multiple users on LINUX - way to share a single .wine
Basically, I'd like to have just one .wine dir on my file system that multiple users on LINUX can share thus allowing me to keep a single install of my windows apps. The default is to install to /home/CURRENT_USER/.wine so I'm wondering, as long as the LINUX users are in the same group, can I relocate the .wine dir to say, /home/share/.wine and update the wineconfig? I just started using

Easily changing directory where program files should be installed to by default?
Dear Wine users, installing a Windows program the program?s installer should look up some registry entry(?) (ProgramFiles [2]) what folder to use to install the program files into. For Englisch installations this is normally `C: \Program Files` in my home directory. I have small space left in my home directory, so I would like to install the program files in a different location, for example

regapi with global registry
Hi, I have a global windows fake tree, which every user in the group "wine" can access. However I got a problem dealing with new applications installed. When a user (any user, even root) installs an application, the registry entries goes to $HOME/.wine/*.reg . This also means that other users will not be able to use it because of the missing registry entries. I use the regSet.sh,

Regedit issues, not owned by root
Hello. I have been pretty satisfied with wine since I have become aware of its existance and am having a pretty good time with it. There are, however, a couple issues I can't wrap my head around. First of all, I cannot run regedit as root, it says: Code: wine: /home/mokuren/.wine is not owned by you I don't know how the root is supposed to "not own" something. This isn't

I can't remove wine applications!

Howto change default wineprefix settings?
I have a dilemma. When freshly installing game (i usually used wineprefixcreate, but now I just use WINEPREFIX when installing) I want certain settings to be used when starting wine. Now I have to click-click through my winecfg to make them right every time I install new game or software. Most notable edits are Sound, Drives and Desktop integration (where the personal folders are configured).
