How to boot into a different kernel
CentOS Community,
Is there a command to boot into a different version of the kernel? I
believe this is setup via grub.conf but unsure. There are a few
different kernels loaded into /boot but I want to see if there is a
command to boot into a different kernel as a single instance or
permanent if needed. Please advise

Erros and warning using kernel 4.10-rc2
could you grab the vbios from /sys/kernel/debug/dri/1/vbios.rom and
maybe also do a mmiotrace with the nvidia driver (using bumblebee or
second X server by hand or so)?
thanks

Erros and warning using kernel 4.10-rc2
Hi guys,
I don't know if it is useful to just post some random kernel warnings/errors, but here they are:

LVM question
CentOS Community,
It is to my understanding that the /boot partition should never be
placed on LVM and should be a physical partition on the hard drives
(or on top of a RAID array). Is this an accurate statement?
Also please advise if the SWAP filesystem is safe to be placed under
LVM, or if this should be a hard partition / hard limit as well. I am
unsure if boot issues or any filesystem issues

6.2 - How to check for a failed disk using LVM with a hardware RAID (3ware)
CentOS Community,
What commands can I use to check the disk health of the system when LVM2
is being used on top of a RAID 10 using a HARDWARE 3ware raid card. The
OS sees a hardware raid usually as one big drive. Is there a way to
check the disks individually to see if any are failing, or throwing hard
or scsi transport errors?

CentOS 6.2 software raid 10 with LVM - Need help with degraded drive and only one MBR
CentOS Community,
I have a dedicated server with 4 hard drives in a RAID 10 software
configuration running LVM. My OS is CentOS 6.2. Earlier today, I
rebooted my system and my system did not come back online. I opened a
ticket with my datacenter who informed me that one of my hard drives is
no longer recognized by the bios and has failed. I was told that an OS
reinstall was needed.

Even in handset audio circuit ?
I was thinking that any handset is a potential echo source due to this audio
circuit ...
Do you agree ?

Latest 6.2 kernel is broken
I just kickstarted a new machine with the latest CentOS 6.2 files, including
kernel 2.6.32-220.13.1.el6.x86_64. It came up without network interfaces.
 dmesg says:

Postfix mail server procedure
CentOS Community,
I was wondering if anyone had a good resource or procedure for a step by
step in installing a mail server with Centos. There ARE documents on
google, however almost all that i've found were outdated from 2005. Does
anyone know where I can find this type of document for a mailserver
Postfix + MySQL + SpamAssassin + ClamAV + Squirrelmail + Postfixadmin, etc?

What's "NT Trans Response : STATUS_CANCELLED", and why does it take so long?
Hi folks,
I have a samba 3.0.25b server running on Centos 4.6. My users complain
of intermittent responsiveness issues, but I haven't been able to
identify the problem. I've done some traffic dumps with tethereal, and
have run them through Wireshark's "Service Response Time" report. I've
identified several packets identified like this:

One-way audio after several minutes 1.4.0
Three sites are experiencing ~10sec period of one-way audio. This
happens several minutes into the call, and it is very intermittent
(infrequent). It does not happen on inter-office calls but only on
calls to/from the PSTN.
Occasionally, a spurt of white noise precedes the drop-out much like a
cell phone drop-out.
One site uses one port of a Sangoma A102X (PCI-X). Another site uses a

Codecs and pauses
Hi all
My * implementation is working brilliantly with only one small fault left to
kill.
I'm using IAXTalk from Telappliant for my incoming/outgoing calls to the
pstn network; if I set my codec to GSM everything works great - no pauses
but quality is a bit poor. If it set the codec to alaw (I think I'm using
the correct one - I'm in the UK) I get intermittent pauses on the call.

Dealing with bandwidth limitations
We have a number of sip-connected customers whose broadband connections
have suddenly become, uh, less than reliable. Actually, there is nothing
wrong with the broadband connection, but rather the network backbone in
the country they are connected through has become bogged down. Although
latency between the sip clients and the * server is only 125ms (ping
times), it seems larger packets either

CentOS 6 yum Groupinstall vs Manual install
Gentlemen,
I have a question regarding yum groupinstall vs just using yum install.
I have been reading tutorials online (for example how to run a Centos
LAMP). Most of the tutorials have examples to install httpd, mysql, etc
using yum install httpd....
The reason for this e-mail is that I noticed in yum grouplist that there
is an option to install Web Server, MySQL database server, etc.
