Sound drop out with totem. mplayer Can't open audio device /dev/dsp
Hey all.
This morning I found that my audio playback is randomly sprinkled with
sound skips and dropouts. I went to /var/log/yum.log and found this:
Feb 09 20:18:22 Updated: lame-3.99.4-2.el6.rf.i686
I'm not saying that caused the problem but it's all I could find that
changed.
When I ls in /dev there is no dsp entry.
That would explain why mplayer Can't open audio device

RPM file download
I see a package "x246-0.120-5.20120303.el6 (i686)" available in my
Add/Remove Software tool. I can't find said package in any of the repos
I've searched through.
Can anyone point me to a link where I can download that package to my
local repo?

Sound Stutters and Sputters then dies
Hey Y'all,
Recently my sound has been misbehaving. The issue exists when I play
sound using Rhythmbox, Totem Movie Player, or even Youtube video in
Firefox or Chrome. The sound stutters and drops out. Sounds very
rough. On Youtube the sound will eventually just die and can not be
restarted until the browser is shut down and restarted.
I've had issues related to Repo Forge

Can't find qemu-kvm
I just installed CentOS 6.2 32 bit today. When I try to start the
Virtual Machine Manager I get a error:
Packages required for KVM usage
The following packages are not installed:
qemu-kvm
These are required to create KVM guests locally.
Would you like to install them now?
If I click on the [YES] button I'm told that the packages could not be
found in any software source.

video capture
Hey all,
I'm looking for a application that I can use to capture video from a USB
web camera.
I have Cheese Webcam Booth 2.28.1 installed but it leaves a lot to be
desired in the video capture field. Things like actually working. It
does an adequate job of snagging a batch of single images in burst mode.
Any suggestions?

totem fails to open .wmv file
Hey All,
Totem has stopped playing .wmv files recently. I don't know exactly
when this happened, but I know I've played .wmv files not too very long
ago. I've got 372 .wmv files all of which I've played at one time.
When I try to launch any one of the .wmv files from file manager totem
pops up but the controls are not functional.
If I start totem from a terminal there is no

openscad available?
Does anyone know if there is a repo that has openscad for CentOS?
rpmfind.net doesn't turn up anything.
The openscad wiki page says, "As of 2013, prebuilt OpenSCAD packages are
available on many recent Linux and BSD distributions, including Debian,
Ubuntu, Fedora, Arch, and NetBSD. Check your system's package manager
for details." I though that maybe CentOS might have one

Desperate plea for help with printer share
Hey Y'all,
I've been trying for months to get samba to share my printer with my
wife's Win XP machine. I've RTFM, and spent hours on google to no avail.
I can't see the printer from Windows so I can't mount it up. Nothing
appears in the logs. The file shares work just fine.
It looks like I've got Samba 3.6.9 on this machine:

Rhythmbox Replacement
Hey Y'all,
I though I would resurrect a long dead mail chain.
I'm looking for a good replacement for Rhythmbox. I need a pod catcher
to catch podcasts and download them to my HD where I can then move them
onto my mp3 player that I take to work every day.
I don't need a new mp3 player so don't suggest VLC. It is not able to
download podcasts.

Video corruption bug in stellarium
Just installed stellarium-0.10.2-1.el6.rf(i686) last night with the
Add/Remove Software tool. I'm getting video corruption and this message
in the terminal:
StelAppGraphicsScene: drawBackground needs a QGLWidget to be set as
viewport on the graphics view
A bit of Google work turned up this on the Ubuntu forum:
"The new version of Stellarium 0.10.3 resolves my display problems.
