SOLVED: World of Warcraft d3d crash and rendring problems
Hi wine people,
with some help from the Nvidia forum I managed to solve a problem with World of Warcraft 4.x.x that I suspect is directX / Wine related:
Enabling -d3d9 and -d3d11 would cause the below mentioned problem with Wine 1.2.2, while it would crash World of Warcraft program under Wine 1.3.15 (Ubuntu 11.04 debs), while OpenGL runs perfectly (30-60 fps with all opengl settings on ultra):

Warcraft 3 'Please Insert CD' fixed in 1 Distro, not Another
Hello Wine community. I have received lots of help in the past on this website and I'm hoping to get some more from you guys on this problem as well.
Anyways, onto the situation:
Currently I am distro hopping to see what fits me best, and I am currently typing this from Gentoo Linux. Using Portage (Gentoo's package manager) I installed nVidia's proprietary drivers and Warcraft

VideoMemorySize registry key not being applied? [wine-1.1.2]
I am using Ubuntu Hardy, using the latest release of wine from the wine repos. I have an nVidia 7600GT with 256MB of video memory. One windows game i installed, Medal of Honor Allied Assault, has a simple config utility that sets game settings based on your hardware. This utility is detecting only 64MB of video memory.
I tried setting it using wine regedit, HKCU>Software>Wine>Direct3d

Help with Registry Stuff
I've used the Wiki page to find and set my video memory size, but I am puzzled because it doesn't seem to be working.
The setting is HKCU.Software.Wine.Direct3D.VideoMemorySize
I set this to a string value of 128 which is the size in MB of my video memory. Have it set it to the wrong value type? Should the string value have been enclosed in quotes?
I am on UBUNTU 10.04 running wine

Running Warcraft 3 + Listchecker a hosting tool
Running on a fresh install of Ubuntu Intrepid and WINE 1.1.10 I'm having some issues running warcraft 3 (the only game I play, so this is somewhat offputting). When starting Warcraft in normal (direct3d) mode the top and bottom panels stay there (making the game unplayable). I'm able to use -opengl and the game fullscreens correctly, but then when I start listchecker (a hosting tool

Duke Nukem Forever Demo (Steam) not launching
Got someone this demo working? 50,- EUR is a lot money to me so I like to play the demo first. But it seems to be impossible?
I have latest Wine from GIT and did the required winetricks steps (dinput8, xinput, removed asterisk from dinput8 user.reg line, added xinput1_3 (with native only) to winecfg, corefonts, tahoma installed; all done in a new wine bottle aka. WINEPREFIX). A +d3d logfile

Wine with 2x nVidia GTX260 lame peformance ingame?
Hi people.
So I got Steam running properly in WINE by reverting to version 177 of the nVidia driver. Now I have a new problem.
I have really shitty performance for Source games in WINE. This means rainbow-y colors, glistening walls, at ~13 fps with all lowest graphics settings.
High quality native linux games run beautifully at all highest settings, including Penumbra and Prey and Quake 4.

Warcraft 2 BNE - performance problem...
Hello to all.
I have recently installed my Warcraft 2 BNE under wine (Ubuntu 6.10 -
wine version 0.9.29). It runs almost perfect. There is intro, sounds
but... game itself is slow. I mean my machine (Duron 1200; 384 MB;
GeForce 5200 128 MB (drivers installed 9746); should run this game
flawless (and it does under Window$) - but unfortunately, under wine
game is pretty choppy - especially when I

Mouse cursor not visible in World of Warcraft 3.0.9
I'm running Linux Mint 6 "Felicia" and Wine 1.1.18, and I'm trying to get World of Warcraft Wrath of the Lich King working. I was able to install everything and get it running, but after the intro movie, the mouse cursor is completely invisible. It's still there, as I can mouse over buttons and click them, but I have no idea where the cursor actually is. Every so often,

City of Heroes / wine not identifying NVIDIA video card
I've been using wine for some time now to play City of Heroes and overall I've been very satisfied. One issue that has always bothered me is that COH gives a warning about outdated video card drivers even with the most recent drivers from NVIDIA installed. This limits the settings that can be chosen in the video options. I also suspect it's not making the most efficient use of my

Warcraft 3-ROC and screen resolution
Hello there,
I have successfully run Warcraft3-ROC (patch level 1.2e) with wine-0.9.24.
Everything works fine (copy protection, sound, ...), but wine refuses to launch
the game in another resolution but 800x600x16bpp either in fullcreen or
windowed mode.
My config :
- 1680x1050 TFT display,
- geForce 6100 with 128M of videoRAM, and latest Nvidia drivers (1-9629)
- a sempron 2800+

Squeezing every last drop of performance out of DirectX
Hi Folks,
I have been using Wine for some time now to run Team Fortress 2 (and other HL2 based games) on my Ubuntu system. I was previously running Ubuntu 7.10 with an Athlon64 3800+, a 7600GT (256MB of RAM), and 2GB of DDR2 333MHz. Recently I upgraded to Ubuntu 8.10 (i386) with an AthlonX2 64 6000+, an 8800GT (1GB of RAM) and 4GB of DDR 800MHz. I was really hoping for a nice performance bump
