Troubleshooting underidentification issues in structural equation modelling (SEM)
Hi all, hope someone can help me out with this.
Background Introduction
I have a data set consisting of data collected from a questionnaire that I
wish to validate. I have chosen to use confirmatory factor analysis to
analyse this data set.
Instrument
The instrument consists of 11 subscales. There is a total of 68 items in
the 11 subscales. Each item is scored on an integer scale between 1 to 4.

Confidence Intervals for Random Effect BLUP's
I want to compute confidence intervals for the random effect estimates
for each subject. From checking on postings, this is what I cobbled
together using Orthodont data.frame as an example. There was some
discussion of how to properly access lmer slots and bVar, but I'm not
sure I understood. Is the approach shown below correct?

panel ordering in nlme and augPred plots
Hi,
I'm new at this, I'm very confused, and I think I'm missing something
important here. In our pet example we have this:
> fm <- lme(Orthodont)
> plot(Orthodont)
> plot(augPred(fm, level = 0:1))
which gives us a trellis plot with the females above the males,
starting with "F03", "F04", "F11", "F06", etc. I thought the point of

Problem with pairs() in nlme
Dear r-helpers,
After successfully running
require(nlme)
vfr.lmL <- lmList(
estimate ~ (slant + respType + visField + hand)^2 | subject, vfr
)
pairs(vfr.lmL, id = 0.01, adj = -0.5) # Pinheiro & Bates (p. 141)
produces the following error:
Error in sprintf(gettext(fmt, domain = domain), ...) :
object "form" not found
Any guesses as to what I may have done wrong?

paquete Rcmdr y BiodiversityR
Estimados,
Muchas gracias por sua ayuda, ya pude instalar data.table y esta funcionando.
Respecto al paquete biodiversityR, no se porque ahora no me corre. El script esta correcto, pero no se porque me tira error.

samba as a time server (newby question): time not updated
Colleagues,
I am trying to use my PDC as a time server.
time server = yes
upon login a group based scripts are executed. Scripts include line:
net time \\samba.server /set /yes
Time changes only if a user who logs was added Power Users Group on the
local machine.
My users belong to either staff, pgrads, ugrads, vis UNIX groups.
What do I need to do to ensure that time is synchronised on

rarefaction curves: unable to run the R script from Gimlet
Hi everybody,
i'm trying to draw rarefaction curves to estimate a population size from
genotyped faeces.
I used the Gimlet software which gave me a script and a "rarefaction.txt"
file. I've copied both files in the work directory of R.
I changed library(nls) by library(stats) in the script.
But now, i'm still unable to run it.
If i ask to show error messages, the software

Rarefaction Curve by Individuals not Sites - vegan (specaccum)
Hi List,
I’m using the vegan function specaccum to produce a rarefaction curve. In
the function’s help it says: “Function ‘specaccum’ finds species
accumulation curves or the number of species for a certain number of sampled
sites or individuals”. Well, I would like to finds this curve for
individuals, but when I compute it the function (using the ‘rarefaction’
method) gives me Sites, Richness

Extrapolation of rarefaction curve
Hi all,
I used R (vegan package) to make rarefaction curves and I calculated the
Chao index for each curve. However, the plateau is far from reached.
What I want to do now is the following:
Based on the Chao index, I want to extrapolate the curve so I get an x-value
which gives me an estimation of the total number of clones I'd have to pick
up and sequence in order to have a full coverage of

rarefaction variance
Here's a question for ecologists on the r-help list-- I'm addressing this
to ecologists in particular because they're most likely to be familiar
with the equation in question but I'll be happy to discuss the problem
with anyone who's willing to take a whack at it.
I'm trying to write a function to calculate the large sample variance of

Security hole in mgetty+sendfax
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hi,
a security hole has been found in the auxiliary fax scripts "faxq" and
"faxrunq" in the mgetty+sendfax package. It has been in there since
the first day those scripts were written.
Due to improper quoting in these shell scripts, it''s possible to execute
code with a foreign user id, and get root access to the machine. The

Ask help
Hello!
I am eager to learn if I only have a data about the relationship between otu and sample, could I use the function capscale, and final make a point plot that x-axis is CAP1 and y-axis is CAP2? Besides, what function could I use to make the different rarefaction curve with different color in the a plot in R? Appreciate very much.

Error in library (nls)
Hi everybody,
I'm not very experienced with R software. I have used it several times for
some of the population genetics analyses. I have problem with executing one
of the script. The script is created by another software called Gimlet and
it is aimed to calculate rarefaction curve in R software.
However, when I try to execute the script, it says: *Error in library(nls) :

The RV coinertia coefficient to interpret multivariate analysis plots
Dear all community,
My issue is related to the R package (made4) that permits me to calculate
the RV coefficient of co-inertia. However, it is a theoretical question.
And if I am not mistaken, the list Usenet groups sci.stat.consult is not
currently active.
Let me explain briefly:
Through different microbiota datasets, I have plotted PCoA, db-RDA and
sPLS-DA using 3 different types of

[LLVMdev] The use iterator not working...
Thanks Dan and Jon. I made an incorrect assumption that the "use" iterator
was actually giving me the "user" when de-referencing it.
Did it always have this behavior in previous LLVM versions? I've seen lots
of examples of the "use" iterator being dereferenced and resulting
Instruction pointer being treated as the "user"?
Thanks,
Zack

samba & winbind with AD 2K auth problem
Hi
I cannot make winbind work correctly. My problem is that my AD users &
groupes are not authenticated on my samba box. I made it work correctly on my
samba 2.2x, an dfrom my understanding, each time a AD user is connected, a Unix
account is created, nad winbind synhronize both accounts.
It looks like the user script "/usr/sbin/useradd -s /bin/false %u" doesn't work,

Roaming profiles with Samba
Hi all,
I've followed the instructions in the DOMAIN.txt document to setup roaming
profiles for my Win 95/98 workstations with great success....except for one
thing.
Prior to setting the samba server up as a domain server I had the
workstations mapping the users' home directories to E drive (right click
the share on the server & select Map Network Drive).
After setting up the samba
