delaying symlinks sync until the data it points to available
Hi,
Is there an easy option in rsync which enables it to sync the data
first and then the symlink pointed to it. For e.g. at destination I
have a symlink "new" which points to anything latest at source. The
problem is that when the sync happens it updates the "new" link first

dynamic bwlimit with rsync
Hi,
Is there a way to do rsync with varying bwlimit during the transfer. I tried to look using Linux 'tc' but it looks trivial. Do somebody has working model for it?
Our pipe is limited and we don't want to give everything to rsync, We have situation where we want rsync transfers to scale up or down within a specified bandwidth limit. For e.g. if there are two (or multiple) rsyncs

/opt/rsync-v2.5.5/bin/rsync --delete --checksum -lptgoD --rsync-path=/opt/rsync-v2.5.5/bin/rsync --hard-links --timeout=5184000 --exclude=.snapshot

Optional filter files
Is it possible to call rsync and tell it to use a filter file if it
exists, but otherwise continue without errors?
If I pass "--filter=. .rsync-filter", it will fail if .rsync-filter
doesn't exist.
I know you can pass "--filter=: /.rsync-filter" to search for filter
files in each directory. That won't fail if there aren't any such
files. But I'm only

Comparing R and SAs
Hi:
For those of you who are adept at both SAS and R, I have the following questions:
a) What are some reasons / tasks for which you would use R over SAS and vice versa?
b) What are some things for which R is a must have that SAS cannot fulfill the requirements?

Deleted smb.conf
I have RedHat 9.1 running. Installed Samba that comes along with the OS to
test it out. When I was playing with it, I deleted the smb.conf file
inadvertently.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the Samba utilities, but that didn't help.
How do I get back the default smb.conf file?
Thanks in advance.
