a dedicated audio encoder
Hi,
I managed to get my hand on a Xenyx x2222usb at a friend's, so I took the
opportunity to do some testing with it.
Pi model B, one of the more recent editions (I also had an older one from
just after they were introduced and that one had trouble rebooting when
attaching/detaching network so I ditched that one). Two usb onboard.
Xenyx x2222usb has the same usb chip 08bb:2902 Texas

Audio weirdness on CentOS 6.2 with flash?
Hi List,
I have an ASUS G73S laptop with our favorite OS installed and all
up-to-date.
Sound has always "just worked"
When I use the Preferences>Sound app I can setup the hardware, input,
output and was overall very impressed.
One can check each speaker and the laptop has a front left and right and
also has a bass speaker which seems to be connected to the left rear.

No sound, no information why, where to start?
Wine and spotify used to work. Now it doesn't, and I don't know why.
Main problem is that Wine doesn't give any information back regarding why audio fails, only that it fails.
When using winecfg, opening the Audio tag, choosing Alsa Driver and pressing "Test sound", a pop up reports "Audio test failed!". Nothing more. Choosing OSS, switching to emulation, same

Trouble running 'alsamixer' as normal user on headless box with minimal system
Hi,
I just transformed an old Pentium III 500 into a headless jukebox. It's
installed in the basement, near the stereo. There's only a base CentOS
system on it (GNOME unchecked, package customization checked and then
everything unchecked). From there on, I just installed the ALSA utils,
and vorbis-tools. The machine is only supposed to do one thing (and to
do it well, UNIX philosophy

Question on script
Hi all,
I am trying to extract from the aplay -l output the Card and Device numbers.
I had a script that was working but found another motherboard that has
an EXTRA word.
HDA Nvidia and HDA ATI HDMI is what I am talking about below.
how do I search for a line that has HDMI (which I know how to do), then
ignore everything upto the device work and take the next field after that?
Thanks,
Jerry

Pulse Audio "Motorboating" Audio with Asterisk
When I use pulse audio and Asterisk 11.4.0 on the Console/Dsp port
I get a motorboating sound or warble - or - just not clear audio.
When I switch that to ALSA direct it sounds just fine.
What might be happening with pulse audio that it does not
sound clear???
asound.conf below.
Thanks,
Jerry

Problem with Centos & Alsa on reboot
I have a number of machines using Centos 6.8
They have M-Audio sound cards.
When I set the output levels using alsamixer and save using 'alsactrl
store' [creating a requested directory] the settings do not restore on
reboot.
I have no idea why they don't.
running 'alsactrl restore' works so the settings are being saved.
I think the on board card settings are loaded OK

Strange console call problem
Hi,
When I dial from my sip device to the extension 1234 which is linked to
the ALSA console driver the call fails with the message "No channel type
registered for 'ALSA'" (see below).
I would like to have the console autoanswer for paging.
However when I call from the console to the sip device the call
completes fine.
I alias alsa device hw:1,0 to card1 in /etc/asound.conf

You said you were using arecord. So what does alsamixer tell you about input level and capture?
