A silly question about getting access to webapp installed with yum
Greetings, I have helped host a few applications such as GLPI, OCSInventory, etc etc. using the tarball method and untarring them in /var/www/htom directory. I have never done them though using yum. I was trying to install Trac, Bugzilla etc using yum install method on a Centos 6.2 box. Somehow I am not able to see the respective pages say even using http://localhost/trac or

No ices for icecast ?
Hi, and a Happy New Year to everyone. I have followed this tutorial to install icecast on Centos 5.5, http://www.howtoforge.com/linux_webradio_with_icecast2_ices2 but cannot find the ices package for sending the audio to icecast for it to stream. I would like to send the data as mp3, if there is a suitable program to do this. Has anyone on the list done this on Centos? Kind Regards,

During today's big Centos 6 update I lost my connection to a machine during the "yum update" and when I logged back in and ran yum update again it told me to run yum-complete-transaction. When I ran yum-complete-transaction I got screen after screen of "x is a duplicate with x" where x consists of a huge list of packages. "package-cleanup --dupes" gives me a

Browsing and Mapped Drives over a VPN
Hello All: I have a situation where I have a Samba box (RH 7.3 w/samba 2.2.4) that I set up for a client. Another consultant came along and installed a VPN using SonicWalls between the main site and a remote site. So now they want the remote users to save files on my Samba box. No problem except that the remote users can't see my local workgroup or any of the local machines. Here's

Suddenly I can't see either printer from the other machine and as far as I know nothing has

Centos 6 - vnc - authentication is required to set the network proxy used for downloading packages
A window keeps popping up on my remote desktop stating "authentication is required to set the network proxy used for downloading packages. An application is attempting to perform an action that requires privileges. Authentication as the super user is required to perform this action" and asking for the root password. If I hit cancel it comes back several minutes later. I've found

How to apply a function to subsets of a data frame *and* obtain a data frame again?
Dear all, First, let's create some data to play around: set.seed(1) (df <- data.frame(Group=rep(c("Group1","Group2","Group3"), each=10), Value=c(rexp(10, 1), rexp(10, 4), rexp(10, 10)))[sample(1:30,30),]) ## Now we need the empirical distribution function: edf <- function(x) ecdf(x)(x) # empirical distribution function evaluated at x ##

ANCOVA for linear regressions without intercept
Hello R experts I have two linear regressions for sexes (Male, Female, Unknown). All have a good correlation between body length (response variable) and head length (explanatory variable). I know it is not recommended, but for a good practical reason (the purpose of study is to find a single conversion factor from head length to body length), the regressions need to go through the origin (0

AIC function and Step function
I would like to figure out the equations for calculating "AIC" in both "step() function" and "AIC () function". They are different. Then I just type "step" in the R console, and found the "AIC" used in "step() function" is "extractAIC". I went to the R help, and found: "The criterion used is AIC = - 2*log L + k *

Zimbra help?
Hi All, Is anyone versed in Zimbra? I have most things working except some MTA issue. I tried posting on the Zimbra forums after reading the docs, but my post was labeled as SPAM and the moderators have not replied to my private message to get my post reviewed. Who uses this type of method for getting help anyway? Aren't the days of Bulletin Board BBS's gone? Anyway... I installed ZCS

Zimbra benchmarking
Now that I have a working kvm setup, I thought I'd finally try how Zimbra works. This is mainly some microbenchmarking, so it may not have much to do with actual performance in real life. Setup: - 1GB memory given to kvm (from host's 2GB) - Intel Core 2 6600 (kvm uses only one CPU) - CentOS 5 - 15GB qcow2 image on XFS filesystem - Zimbra 5.0 RC2 RHEL5 x86_64 - Dovecot latest hg,

Cannot startup IA32/IA32pae VMX domain on IA32e platform
We cannot startup IA32/IA32pae unmodified linux guest OS. Booting 32bit VMX domain will stop at printing "ACPI: Unable to locate RSDP". Booting 32pae VMX domain will get a kernel panic. No abnormal info found in serial output. It''s interesting that sometime we can boot Windows 2003. Booting Windows SP1/SP2 Guest will crash with attached serial output. Bests Jeff
