ZFS vs mpxio vs cfgadm in Solaris.
Folks,
I''m trying to figure out whether we should give ZFS / mpxio a shot
on one of our research servers, or simply skip it (as we have
previously).
In Nov 2009 Cindy responded to a thread concerning ZFS device
issues, cfgadm, and mpxio:

[LLVMdev] AliasAnalysis calling failed in Pass interaction
Dear LLVM developers,
I am Shen, a PhD student at Lehigh Univ. PA. Now I am implementing a
Program Dependence Graph(PDG) on LLVM. I have 4 passes here:
1. ProgramDependenceGraph (a *ModulePass *on the highest level)
2. DataDependenceGraph (a Intermediate *FunctionPass*).
3. FlowDependenceAnalysis Pass (a intermediate *FunctionPass*) which uses
llvm built-in AliasAnalysis (-basicaa)

[LLVMdev] Why a function pointer field in a LLVM IR struct is replaced by {}*?
Dear LLVM developers,
My name is Ben Niu and I am a Ph.D. student at Lehigh University. I
compiled the MUSL C library using Clang 3.3, and dumped the generated LLVM
IR files. I found that the MUSL-defined FILE struct (aliasing __FILE_s)
struct __FILE_s {
unsigned flags;
unsigned char *rpos, *rend;
int (*close)(FILE *);
unsigned char *wend, *wpos;
unsigned char *mustbezero_1;

new install CentOS 6.2 and 4.5.1-2 run error.
Hi List,
I have a new install of CentOS 6.2 and shorewall 4.5.1-2. I usually
have no issues
with shorewall until now.
When I execute < #shorewall start > I get the following error.
root@poweredge > /etc/shorewall# shorewall start

Can''t locate Shorewall/Compiler.pm in @INC (@INC contains:

Centos 6.2 Postfix - forward through SMTP smarthost with SMTP-AUTH
Hi All,
I have set up three servers in a development environment. Via CR they're
updated to Centos 6.2
It appears that these servers have postfix installed on them by default,
which unfortunately I'm not very well acquainted with.
All I want is a quick and dirty way to enable these hosts to send email
through my own SMTP host.
My (sendmail) SMTP host uses SMTP AUTH on a non-standard

[LLVMdev] insert nop instruction
Dear All,
To add to this, you can find examples of inserting NOPs for X86 in the
CFI pass originally written at Lehigh University that we ported to
64-bit X86 for SVA:
https://github.com/jtcriswell/SVA/blob/master/llvm/lib/Target/X86/X86CFIOptPass.cpp
Alternatively, you could use an InlineAsm call at the LLVM IR level
(which I think would be easier to implement).

John Criswell

Software RAID1 with CentOS-6.2
Hello,
Having a problem with software RAID that is driving me crazy.
Here's the details:
1. CentOS 6.2 x86_64 install from the minimal iso (via pxeboot).
2. Reasonably good PC hardware (i.e. not budget, but not server grade either)
with a pair of 1TB Western Digital SATA3 Drives.
3. Drives are plugged into the SATA3 ports on the mainboard (both drives and
cables say they can do 6Gb/s).

Seattle Meetup?
Hi all,
It looks like I''ll be in Seattle on Sunday, September 16th through
Tuesday the 18th, and I''d like to have Puppet Meetup either Sunday or
Monday night.
On Adam''s recommendation, I''ll be staying at the Queen Anne Inn, so
something near there would be best. Hopefully Adam or Blake can do
the actual organization. :)
Any takers?

ViSpan
I was looking for the old Vispan stuff, and it seems to have disappeared
from the web. Now I realize it was old, but it did provide some details
that I liked on my old servers. I've got mailscanner-mrtg running, but
that only provides a view of what mailscanner sees.
Does anyone know of a good replacement for vispan that might give
complete stats on what the mail server is doing instead

rhel/centos alternative to logwatch?
Logwatch file shows last upgrade to the code was 2007.
The unmatched entries are killing me in the reports.
I figure there must be a newer utility centos has in the repo but I
cannot find one.
Is logwatch the only one that is included?
thanks

Back to eth shuffling ...
Actually, I know what the MAC is for the builtin Port1 and 2. Those are
listed in the BIOS. But ultimately I don't want to rely on them as I want
the same kickstart file to work for other machines, so hardcoding those in
the kickstart file wouldn't quite work, unless I start writing multiple
kickstart files, one per machine.
Anyway, lspci reports this:
00:19.0 Ethernet controller: Intel

Back to eth shuffling ...
Right, I understand that part. However I believe I'm now in the realm of
making this specific to this machine as I have no guarantee that another
identical machine will pop up with those same bus IDs. Maybe for the
internal ports, but I don't know if the same will happen for the PCIe bus.
Would that be correct?

mounting & partitioning Seagate FreeAgent external HD
Hi all,
As a disclaimer, I'm new to this list and very green administering
CentOS. I run it on my test servers and do very basic networking and
server administration (most users, permissions, and web app stuff).
I have a backup server that I am using rsync to collect important
in-process file for our digital library from both Windows and Linux
servers, as well as a specific applications

Fwd: RFC: Moving toward Discord and Discourse for LLVM's discussions
Slack's community moderation features are pretty terrible - it's simply
not set up for managing public-facing communities; it's set up for
managing private workplace team collaboration. The best way to try to
explain the features which are missing are to look at something like the
Matrix moderation guide (https://matrix.org/docs/guides/moderation/);
many of these features are
