help! kennard-stone algorithm in soil.spec packages does not work for my dataset!!!
http://r.789695.n4.nabble.com/file/n3031344/RSV.Rdata RSV.Rdata
I want to split my dataset to training set and test set using
kennard-stone(KS) algorithm, it is lucky there is R packages soil.spec to
implement it.
but when I used it to my dataset, it does not work, who can help me, how
reasons is it, below, it is my code, and my data in the attachment.

Help me make faster R code for Kennard-Stone algorithm [My code is so slow from Matlab]
Hi all,
Can you help me change my Kennard-Stone algorithm to faster one?
[The original code can run fast in matlab, but when I change matlab code to
R code, it is so slow.]
Since my code so crude and too many loops (changed from matlab code), it is
too slow. I hope that you can help to improve the performance.
Thanks.

app_sms - rocks!
Ok,
I just thought I'd publicly pat Adrian Kennard (revk) on the back for this application. This is an excellent contribution and gets my vote for app of the year.
For those that aren't aware app_sms allows you to send/receive fixed line sms messages from asterisk. ( you can take a look at a quick page showing this http://www.automated.it/asterisk/sms.html ).. I should point out that

Asterisk and VoDSL
Hi, I'm new to telephony Software and Hardware, so please excuse my
questioning.
I plan to set up a little system, using Asterisk and VoDSL via Belcacom
or Scarlet here in belgium.
We are yust a little 2 man company and we are not always in our office.
My idea is, to get VoDSL and set up a system that works as following:
A customer sends SMS or phones to our office-numbers, if we are out,

Vectorization of three embedded loops
Dear R-programmer,
I wrote an adapted implementation of the Kennard-Stone algorithm for
sample selection of multivariate data (R 2.7.1 under MacBook Pro,
Processor 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Memory 2 GB 667 MHZ DDR2 SDRAM).
I used for the heart of the script three embedded loops. This makes it
especially for huge datasets very slow. For a datamatrix of 1853*1853
and the selection of 556

applying summary() to an object created with ols()
Hello R-list,
I am trying to calculate a ridge regression using first the *lm.ridge()*
function from the MASS package and then applying the obtained Hoerl
Kennard Baldwin (HKB) estimator as a penalty scalar to the *ols()*
function provided by Frank Harrell in his Design package.
It looks like this:
> rrk1<-lm.ridge(lnbcpc ~ lntex + lnbeerp + lnwinep + lntemp + pop,

Callback sto InstanceMethods in a plugin
Hello there,
I''m currently building a plugin, for which I need a before_save
callback. The method I want to call is in module InstanceMethods, but
when I add a before_save foo, foo, as defined as an InstanceMethod,
never gets called.
This is the first plugin I''m building, after only two weeks of fiddling
with Ruby and Rails, so if anyone is kind enough to help me out.... :)

Re: normal distribution in samples of soil organisms.
Hi,
You didn't specify the satistical model you are intereted in, I will
suppose it is something like:
#Organims ~ Landscape + Soil + Depth + Species
I suppose you have a table of with something like...
Spec Lands Soil Depth #Organisms
A 1 1 1 10
A 1 2 1 2
B 1 1 1 0
B 2 2 2 2
... etc,
Normally, the count of organisms in soil samples follows a posisson
distribution, not a normal one.

Slideshow with Ken-Burns Effect
Hi everybody,
I've had some time and so I added a slideshow creator with the Ken-Burns-Effect to the Ogg Video Tools. Feel free to visit the following page:
http://www.server.streamnik.de:88/test.html
It's best viewed with the Mozilla Firefox 3.1 Beta 2, but a Cortado Player is also available for the other browsers.
The code is actually not publically available, as I would like to add

Ternary or Triangular Plots (soil texture triangle plot)?
Hi,
I am trying to create a triangular plot to show the 'composition' of a
set of items with three variables (historically the percent sand, silt
and clay in soil).
So far I have tried the 'soil texture triangle plot' in the package
plotrix and the 'ternary or triangular plots' in the package cwhtool
(cwhmisc). Both have strengths and weaknesses, but neither has a

Soil texture triangle in R?
Dear R users,
has anybody made an attempt to create the soil texture triangle graph in
R? For an example see here:
http://www.teachingkate.org/images/soiltria.gif
I would like to get the lines in black and texture labels in gray to
allow for plotting my texture results on top.
Any examples or suggestions are very welcome!
Thanks in advance,
Sander.

PV AMI for CentOS 7
Is there any chance we could get a PV AMI for CentOS 7 to match the HVM version at https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/pp/B00O7WM7QW/ref=srh_res_product_title?ie=UTF8&sr=0-2&qid=1442957668341
We have prepurchased reserved instances based on older PV machines (m1, c1, etc) It would be very very helpful to have a PV AMI so we could migrate to CentOS 7 on those image types.

R: ridge regression
hi all
a technical question for those bright statisticians.
my question involves ridge regression.
definition:
n=sample size of a data set
X is the matrix of data with , say p variables
Y is the y matrix i.e the response variable
Z(i,j) = ( X(i,j)- xbar(j) / [ (n-1)^0.5* std(x(j))]
Y_new(i)=( Y(i)- ybar(j) ) / [ (n-1)^0.5* std(Y(i))] (note that i have
scaled the Y matrix as well)
